Today's Considerations
The postings prior to the recent restructuring of the website were focusing on the nine basis personality types (which appear to one degree or another in every non-Realized human on planet earth) and how the hidden agendas of those nine types drive persons to go and do and zoom and race about throughout their entire relative existence.
Those discussions will continue after reviewing Maharaj's ultimate understanding of the source of the Ultimate Sickness which came after he saw - through his own experiments and experiences - which versions of the Ultimate Medicine are totally ineffective and which version has some chance of addressing the Sickness and its key symptoms which he identified as "ignorance and stupidity and insanity." Note that his final take was that neither the symptoms nor the Sickness have anything to do with "the spirit" or with "the soul" but are only about the mind instead.
A site visitor asked yesterday, "Would Maharaj would have likely said that the greater contributor to the Ultimate Sickness is the mind or the personality?" The reply: "What would an oncologist say if you asked, 'Which is making me miserable and causing my suffering? Is it my cancerous polyps, or is it what is inside the polyps'?"
There's no separating the two, and that is the case when identifying with the mind and with the personality (or, more accurately, with multiple personalities). The assigned and assumed personalities which persons think define "who they are" are stored in the mind, along with the accumulation of what they take to be their "valued and defining beliefs." There is not a "mind aspect" of the Sickness standing alongside a "personality aspect" of the Sickness. Both aspects operate hand-in-hand, so to speak.
Therefore, when Maharaj warned seekers about what a hazard the mind is, his warnings were really cautions about the hazards of the content of the mind, and that content includes all beliefs about personal, false identities as well. So before continuing with the various traits of the nine basic personality types which drive persons to go and do and zoom and to suffer from restlessness and dissatisfaction and from the little interest that they have in being calm and peaceful and quiet, consider other pointers about the mind which Maharaj offered:
" . . . The mind obscures and distorts."
" . . . It is the mind that creates illusion."
"Stop making use of your mind and see what happens."
"Don't rely on your mind for liberation. It is the mind that brought you into bondage. Go beyond it altogether."
"Beyond the mind there is no suffering."
"There is no such thing as mind. There are ideas . . . . "
"Learn to separate yourself from the image and the mirror. Keep on remembering: I am neither the mind nor its ideas."
"Abandon the wrong ideas, for they are false and obstruct your vision of Yourself."
"To know that you are a prisoner of your mind, that you live in an
imaginary world of your own creation, is the dawn of wisdom."
"The death of the mind is the birth of wisdom."
"I find that I have lost the mind irretrievably."
To be continued.
Please enter into the silence of contemplation.
