Today's Considerations

There remains the discussion of the way that the last three of the nine basic personality types drive persons to develop racing minds which, in turn, drive the body to go and do and zoom in order to try to attain an internal sense of unity and harmony by speeding the body up in an effort to make it synchronize with the speed of the mind.

What is the greater problem which results when (1) a composite unity of body and mind and consciousness are out of sync; when (2) that lack of synchronicity generates a constant sense of disharmony; and when (3) the subconscious plan to address that internal sense of dissonance and discord is to drive the body faster and faster until it might align with the same speed of the mind in an effort to put the mind and body in harmony?

The problem with that plan is that a body will never be able to reach the speed of a racing mind. Again, Maharaj said that someday science would advance to the point that it would confirm the validity of every non-dual pointer. That has happened, so what can science reveal about that subconscious (and insane) plan which non-Realized humans try to use in their effort to put the body and mind in sync? Consider:

An adult human brain is fast - astonishingly fast - having about 100 billion cells that are constantly at work . . . that are always in motion. A neuron inside the brain can fire about once every millisecond or about 200 times a second. To align with the mind's speed, a body would have to move at 720,000 m.p.h. (or 1,158,480 k.p.h.) The mind-part of the brain races at speeds that no human could ever approach.

It should be clear, therefore, that the only way for an internal sense of harmony to manifest is not by trying to drive the body faster and faster but for the mind to slow down. What, therefore, must happen for a body to be able to slow down, relax, take it easy, and be at peace while sitting in the quiet for a spell and doing nothing at all for a spell? Obviously, for the body to be able to stop and rest like that, the mind would have to stop and rest like that first. But, again, that is impossible.

The alternative? The mind which is driving the body to race must go. Any and all functioning that is generated by a near-infinite number of bogus concepts, ideas, perceptions, false identities, learned ignorance, and nonsense must end.

By weight, the mind-part of the brain is only 1/600th of 1% of the brain's total weight. No big loss. How to end the mind? Empty it of its bogus concepts, ideas, perceptions, false identities, learned ignorance, and nonsense (a.k.a., "beliefs"). When the last belief goes, so does the racing mind.

To continue with the discussion of the final three of the nine basic personality types which drive going and doing and zooming:

The racing about which is engaged in by Personality Type Sevens (The Adventurers / The Enthusiasts / The Potential Addicts) is driven by their basic fear of being trapped, deprived, or in pain (be it mental or emotional or physical). They cannot stand it. "The Job From Hell" for a Type Seven in one that involves a cubicle. They find boredom and a sense of entrapment anathema. Sevens feel entitled to play, no matter their age. They will be driven to escape, whether the means they try to use to do so involves escaping mentally, emotionally, physically or all three.

They are also driven to move at a non-stop pace in order to fulfill their basic desire to be free, to have their "need" for exciting and enjoyable and stimulating activities fulfilled, and to avoid all pain or suffering or misery. (In the process, they usually end up generating all sorts of pain and misery and suffering.)

The racing about of Type Eights (The Controller / The Boss / The Always-Assertive One / The Abusive One) is driven by their basic fear of being harmed, violated, or controlled by others. The result? They harm, violate and control others instead, and they do it first because of their "head 'em off at the pass" mentality. (The abused become abusers, and usually the Type Eight Personality develops as a result of having been abused.)

Thus, they race about to fulfill their basic desire: to protect themselves by being aggressive and overwhelming, to gain control of their lives by trying to control the lives of all others, and to be in charge at all times and in all places and in all ways, including in relationships, business, traffic, at checkout counters . . . anywhere . . . everywhere . . . always.

Type Nines (The Procrastinators / The Avoiders / The Guardians of Their Own Peace at the Expense of Others Losing Their Peace) do not appear to race about as much because they are often lethargic or downright lazy. Yet it can be a 24 / 7 task to work at finding others and manipulating others to provide all of the things which their high levels of egotism tell them they are entitled to. They are like Sevens to the degree that they hate work, but at least Sevens will - at least for a time - do some work in order to have the money required for them to play in the style which they prefer. Nines work as a last resort.

They are driven by a basic fear of loss and separation and not being taken care of. They are also driven by the basic desire to maintain their own "peace of mind." Some are called "Peacemakers," but they are not about the business of making the peace and keeping the peace except in the most passive-aggressive ways. Instead, they are about the business of avoiding anyone disturbing their peace. In reality, they have no peace because, in almost all cases, their desire (a) to be taken care of and (b) to reap the benefits of being given everything which they think they are entitled to hardly ever meets their expectations.

TOMORROW: Earlier, there was a look at Simon and Garfunkel's suggestion to "slow down - you move too fast."  Tomorrow, another invitation from a singer who offers a message about "slowing down."

To be continued.

Please enter into the silence of contemplation.
