THERE’S NO SUCH THING AS PEACE OF MIND [Continued from yesterday] “If you seek reality you must set yourself free of all backgrounds, of all cultures, of all patterns of thinking and feeling.” ---Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj   “You imagine that you were born at a certain time and place, that you have a father and a mother, a body and a name. This is your . . .  calamity!” ---Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj   “You do not want to give up either worldly knowledge or so-called spiritual knowledge and yet, through these worldly concepts, you want to understand the riddle of your existence, and that is precisely why you are not able to understand.” ---Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj   "After the information given to you by the mother, that you are a boy or girl, all your further acquisitions are by hearsay." ---Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj   The interesting thing about “seeking” or “following a path” or “undertaking the journey” which was discussed yesterday is that (a) most will never seek and that (b) the few who do seek haven’t the slightest clue what they are to seek or what path to take to find that which they seek or what the “journey” they discuss should involve. Regarding that, Maharaj said, “Having never left the house you are looking for the way home.” You are where you need to be - wherever you are right now - to begin using the proper methods to seek the proper thing that is to be found. If Maharaj’s point about the Ultimate Sickness is correct - that it is a sickness of the mind which results in persons being driven throughout an entire relative existence by ignorance, stupidity and insanity - then the proper task of the seeker is be free of the influence of those symptoms. And “the proper thing that is to be found” is the source of the ignorance, stupidity and insanity so that one can eliminate the attachment to the source and thereby set the stage for being free of the attachment that passed those three along to you and which stored them in the mind part of your brain and which lad led you to so admire the beliefs stored therein. Hence Maharaj’s pointer above that “if you seek reality (to end the insanity which blocks humans from understanding what is real and what is not and what is true and what is false), you must set yourself free of all backgrounds, of all cultures, of all patterns of thinking and feeling.” So what are some of the factors that result in the masses contracting the Ultimate Sickness? First, acculturation and conditioning and domestication and programming and indoctrination and brainwashing. And what are the common sources of those? #1 Parents (who pass down all six of the above). How? 1.   Heredity (genetics): Many mental disorders run in families, suggesting that the disorders, or more accurately, a vulnerability to the disorders, might be passed on from parents to children through genes. For example, some professionals and researchers suggest that “one of the most highly genetically inherited psychiatric disorders is the bipolar personality disorder.” Professionals and researchers have explained: “When people discuss toxic parents they are typically describing parents who consistently behave in ways that cause guilt, fear, or obligation in their children. That means that they may make mistakes, yell too much, or do potentially damaging things to their kids - even unintentionally. 2.   Many children grow up with a parent who, at some point, has a mental illness. Mental illness in parents represents a risk for children in the family. These children have a higher risk of developing mental illnesses than other children. Some estimates are that more than 25% of parents have some mental disorder. (The wise know that the actual percentage is much higher.) #2 Religions (which pass down all six). Relatives (who pass down all six). Neighbors (who pass down acculturation). Schools (which pass down all six). Governments (which pass down all six). Businesses (which pass down all six). Let it be said that all of those function much like a wind-up toy car I had a child. I would tighten the spring attached to the wheels by using a turnkey and then setting the car down. It would race off straight ahead until it bumped into something: a baseboard, a chair, whatever. Then it would back up, turn 90 degrees and then race off again until it bumped into something. It would repeat that pattern until the tension in the spring ended. (The car can accurately symbolize the relative existence of most humans.) Free means free, and to be freed from the BS stored in the mind is to first be freed from an attachment and egotism-inspired over-evaluation of the source(s) that put it there. As long as that attachment remains and as long as an excessive valuing of the source continues - to one’s parents, for example - then the BS they pumped into one’s brain will remain. Must one seeking realization hate the sources listed about? Absolutely not, but one has to be able to witness and assess what those sources passed along before what they passed along can be witnessed and assessed accurately. And only witnessing and assessing accurately the ideas, thoughts, impressions, images, views, concepts, notions and theories (all of which can be summarized as “beliefs” which are stored in one’s mind) can the inspiration come to reject all of the BS. I’ve watched a woman I met in college in 1970 who wanted one thing above all else: her mother’s love and admiration. She could have died “happy” if she could have gotten one “Attagirl!” from her mom. But her mom had neither love nor attagirls to give. Her mom had twelve pregnancies because of the programming she had received in the Catholic Church. She felt obliged to leave behind as large a stair-step-sized brood of little Catholics as possible; yet the near-annual act of becoming impregnated and propelling children from her body had nothing to do with a “maternal instinct” or with “love.” It has to do with “priest-pleasing” and the belief that that her frequent propellings could assure her a place in “heaven.” In 2004, I crossed paths with the daughter I met in college and the woman was still expending an inordinate amount of time and energy, doing for her sick mom in her continuing but unfulfilled effort to get at least one “Attagirl!” from her mom before the woman’s demise. It never came. What came from her perfectionistic mom was more of the same: rejection, criticism, and the message that “you were never good enough and you aren’t’ good enough now and you will never be good enough.  Go away. I don’t want to talk to you. I don’t want to even hear your irritating voice!” But the daughter ignored those disparaging remarks and kept trying, trying to force her mom to love her and to admire her. Since her mom’s end, the daughter has been driven by anger and sadness and deep depression over never having achieved the goal she had regarding her mom. To this day, more than fifty years after meeting the daughter and first hearing her reveal during our college years what had become her raison d’être, she continues to be miserable over the fact that she never got the love she wanted from a mom who had no ability to love at all. “What could I have done differently?” she once asked me. THE REPLY “Well, let’s see. Maybe you could have perfected the act of squeezing blood out of a turnip and then you could have used that skill to squeeze love out your mom. "Or, what you could have done to have enjoyed fifty years of the peace that you gave away on a lost cause would have been to see the truth. "But the only ‘truth’ you sought was a lie because it was always about you: ‘What made me so unlovable as a daughter?’ ‘What about me pushed her away while I was trying to pull her to me?’ ‘Why was I so disgusting that even my own mom could not love me?’ ‘Why didn’t having all the children I had and being loyal to the Catholic Church not make her feel differently about me’?” “To the contrary, the only question you should have asked was, ‘What the hell happened to that woman that she could love the church and love priests (one on a "forbidden" level) but could not love me and my siblings?” “Since your angst and emptiness yet remain, it’s not too late to ask that question now. Find the answer and you can eliminate the BS beliefs which are in your mind and which have blocked any chance you ever had for peace and happiness.” How about you? Are you still attached to some person or persons who pumped your mind full of ignorant beliefs or stupid beliefs which drive you subconsciously and unconsciously to take insane actions?” Be free of your attachment to that person or those persons. You need not hate them. You merely need to be free of their influence and follow a path which is completely different from the one they put you on.” You need not any longer let them wind you up like my toy car and race ahead until you crash and then turn and do it all over over again, just the way they acculturated and conditioned and domesticated and programmed and indoctrinated and brainwashed you to do. Maharaj: "If you seek reality you must set yourself free of all backgrounds, of all cultures, of all patterns of thinking and feeling.” Best regards on changing paths, starting NOW. To be continued. THE EXPLANATION

If looked at as nouns, they point to illusions and are, therefore, a total waste of time to even discuss; if looked at as verbs which are resulting in certain sane but rare behaviors among humanity, then they are worthy of some attention during the relative existence.

Meaning? There are members of certain groups who say things such as "My concept of god in the past was of a weak god, an absentee god, A Santa Claus-type god, a mean, punishing, vindictive god, etc. Today, I am in close contact with a loving and caring god whom I worship and praise and glorify and give thanks to."

The reply to that usually goes like this: "If you are in contact with a god that wants to be worshipped and praised and glorified, then you're dealing with someone like yourself - a narcissist - and hanging out with narcissists will never bring an end to your narcissism (that narcissism evidenced by the fact that you think you are "godly").

Next, in the phrase 'loving and caring god,' any supposed god that truly had her or his act together would tell you that the totally irrelevant part of that phrase is 'god' and that the only part that is relevant is the "loving and caring" part.

"That is, a non-narcissistic their god / their goddess would say, "I care not an iota about being worshipped and praised and glorified by you or anyone else. How arrogant and insecure and needy would I have to be to want that? Forget the man-made, dreamed up noun 'god' and focus on the 'god as a verb' understanding and then go forth and let loving and caring be verbs - not adjectives - and let them generate the act of love and the act of caring and let those actions manifest through you." 

Yeshu'a (Jesus) and Pope John Paul II and Pope Francis were spot on:

"No one shall ever see 'the kingdom of heaven.' It is within"

"Heaven and earth shall fade away."

--Yeshu'a (Jesus)

and 

"Heaven and hell are not geographic places

but are states of mind, nothing more than

concepts dreamed up by men."

--Pope John Paul II 

"There is no hell."

--Pope Francis, the current pope

in an interview with journalist Eugenio Scalfari,

a writer used by the Pope to issue off the record

teachings which become a part of the Papal Magisterium.

[That said, would that the popes who have shown the courage to reject a core concept of their dogma - namely, "hell" - would find the additional courage required to question the very existence of their institution in light of the centuries-long cover-up of their history of raping children and in light of the mental and emotional and psychological scarring of billions of their members past and present.

And that need for courage also applies as questions need to be asked about why so many other sky cults are still being supported and allowed to continue to exist as well. When certain types of programming and conditioning have been shown to blind the masses, they should end. Will they? Not likely. Why?

Because what the masses think and say and do is most influenced by the international crime families which hold sway over the masses as criminals conduct their planet-wide operations. What are the major international crime families and which are the most influential and have the largest memberships?

The Mafia / La Cosa Nostra; the Catholic Church (with it 1.2 billion followers) whose Vatican Bank worked for decades with the Mafia while laundering mob earnings (for a 15% all-profit charge by the Bank); Protestant and Evangelical Churches (with over 1.2 billion followers) like the one I was raised in where the youth director molested and sexually assaulted young girls; big business which has long created environments in which people have been abused; powerful political bodies like the U.S. Congress, etc., etc., etc.)

With all of those crime families, neither the followers nor the leadership ever voluntarily step down or shut down their criminal activities. Be they gangs, organized crime families, religions, big business, politicians, etc., they all want control and they all want power and they all want money, and nothing internal will interfere with the driving forces at play.

The masses must demand that all those in charge must step down and their groups and institutions must shut down, and there's the real problem because the continuation of their crimes are enabled not as much by the people running such crime organizations as they are enabled by the masses of people who - wanting some perceived "payoff" - remain involved with them and give them money and support them and aid and abet the continued existence of those criminal enterprises and thus facilitate the ability of church criminals and political criminals and other types of criminals to continue to commit their crimes.]
