ANNOUNCEMENTS
[Walter Driscoll asked to interview me in order to preserve on video some of the latest modifications and evolutions in the versions of the message offered here since 1989. He would label the discussion, "Unlearning with Floyd Henderson."
Please note: For those who have a problem hearing what is being shared, the video offers a fairly accurate set of closed captions which some listeners might want to activate.
The interview is available for viewing by clicking on video "NUMBER THIRTEEN" in the column to the right.]
1. [See the offer in gold text following this post for details on how you can watch a retreat on video which includes a detailed discussion of all seven of the steps on the path as used by Maharaj]
2. Here, with those who are still driven to talk about "god," the "Son of god," the "Holy Spirit," "Buddha," "Krishna," etc., etc., etc., the invitation to them is to view those as verbs, not nouns. See the green text after today's post for the full meaning and implications of that.
3. A new video ("Number Ten: Awakening Together Satsang, March 2018") has now been added in the far right column of this page, offering the opportunity to view a recent 2018 satsang session with Floyd being interviewed by Regina and Jacqueline of "The Awakening Together Group." (See the details in the blue text after this post.)
4. Some prefer paperback books even if they have to wait a day or so to receive it and have to pay more for a printed book and its shipment. Now, 10 paperback books by Henderson are in print and available in two anthologies through Barnes and Noble, Amazon, and over 40,000+ booksellers around the globe including in the Americas, Germany, India, Italy, Poland, Russia, China, Spain, Brazil and South Korea. See the end of this post in red text for details.
5. Would you like to have us send to someone as a gift from you a copy of any ebook in our inventory? See the offer in purple text at the end of this post.
6. Or, you may purchase a Floyd Henderson Shopify Gift Card here for someone and offer recommendations for the books in Floyd's store which might be of assistance to them.

Grasping a Clearer Understanding of Non-Dual Terms
To review:
Months ago a series was offered which focused on popular but totally false phrases and statements which are presented as non-dual pointers.
After months of preparatory discussions which
(a) provided an opportunity for non-dual seekers to be open to revisiting, objectively, much of what they had read and heard over the years about non-duality
and which
(b) invited seekers to consider abandoning not only their beliefs about what the actual non-dual message might be but also what it most certainly is not.
This series began with and opportunity to focus in even more depth on those popular phrases and statements discussed earlier and to see why they are actually based in duality and thus make no sense at all.
That said, the focus now is on “seekers’ propensities and humankind’s propensities” which block a grasping of the non-dual understanding.
Today’s focus will be on . . .
SEEKERS’ PROPENSITIES: TO LEARN RATHER THAN UN-LEARN
“KNOWLEDGEABLE” OR “EDUCATED” PEOPLE
During the last fifty years a shift has occurred in the U.S. culture’s perceptions regarding “knowledgeable” or “educated” people. Where they were highly respected in the years following WWII, after the cultural shifts in the 70’s and 80’s, they have often been the targets of criticism.
As larger and larger percentages of the masses came to be driven by the key symptoms of the Ultimate Sickness - namely, ignorance, stupidity and insanity according to Maharaj - the educated who were seen as the wisest among the population came to be seen as the most ignorant, stupid and insane.
While earning a B.A. degree and an M.A. degree, I came to see that the linkage between knowledgeable and wise was a myth as more of more of my professors fell into the “Nutty Professor” category.
Too, shortages of skilled employees in jobs which required training but not a college degree also set the stage for a shift in the way “the educated” have been viewed. It is true that not everyone needs a college degree to be able to pay the bills.
KNOW-IT-ALLS
Another cultural shift occurred in the way the population as a whole views “Know-It-Alls.”
A know-it-all has been defined by some as a person who thinks he or she knows everything and refuses to accept advice or information from others.
There was a time when egoists, egotists, conceited persons, braggarts, and self-centered persons were seldom tolerated. Humility - even if feigned - was the general preference.
Then politics and the business community began offering up candidates and CEO’s who were admired for bragging about themselves, who were narcissists, who claimed they were the only one out of millions who could solve the nation’s problems, and who asserted that “if you don’t blow your own horn, then no one else will.”
As their arrival coincided with a rise in the number of cases of the Ultimate Sickness and with a surge in the percentage of the population who are driven by ignorance, stupidity and insanity, then narcissists were not just tolerated but have become preferable in some quarters.
Now, it does not matter if one has accumulated a storehouse of learned ignorance or a storehouse of learned information and facts. The fact is that whatever one has come to believe is cherished.
Additionally, persons now are willing to die in a fight to defend their beliefs. (An example to follow.) The irony is this: there is no such thing as “your beliefs.” There are only “their beliefs” which they passed down and which have been accepted as the gospel truth and the true knowledge by those listening to the beliefs of others.
No one can accurately speak of “her mind” or “his mind” or “my mind.” There's only “their mind” the mind of others; moreover, a mind is nothing more than a storehouse of nonsense, a pile of refuge and garbage, a dung heap, and a few parts of the brain which contain an accumulation of “belief excrement.”
Nevertheless, those piles of lies and misperceptions are cherished and worth fighting about and believed to be worth dying for. And that is exactly what happened on April 20, 1999 and has been repeated since on many occasions.
A news article entitled “After Columbine, Martyrdom Became a Powerful Fantasy for Christian Teenagers” offered the details of a cult following which sprang up around Cassie Bernall, who was 17 when she was shot by Eric Harris at Columbine High School who went on a shooting spree with his friend Dylan Klebold.
As the story was first told, Harris asked one student, Rachel Joy Scott, if she believed in God. When she answered, “Yes,” he shot her.
When he moved over to Bernall, she had just seen someone give the unwise answer to his test question. A believer or not, the wise believer would say “No” and then live another day to “pray to God for forgiveness for denying him.” But when Harris moved over to her and asked if she believed in God, she also answered “Yes” and was shot dead.
[Another report said that it was likely a different girl entirely, Val Schnurr, who told Klebold - not Harris - that she believed in God before he shot her in the school library. That mattered not.
Once the emotional intoxication of a martyr mythology became a driving force for millions of teenage Christians, the movies made, the books written, the songs recorded, and the thousands of teens offering testimonials at Christian gatherings would lock in the tale which would be repeated hundreds of thousands of times as the two girls became heroines among teen believers.]
Yet it was their dogma’s learned ignorance which set the stage for an early demise, relatively speaking. To this day, teen Christian gatherings still often include a tribute to "the girl who said 'yes'," thus programming millions of other teens to believe that if they happen to end up in similar circumstance, they, too, should "say yes."
The point: what one learns can prevent that person from learning anything later on which is contrary to their original teachings. They become blocked to receiving and processing any other views or perspectives or understandings:
Taught that God is real? Check.
Taught that one with true faith will always gladly and unwaveringly share her or his beliefs?
See proof before one’s very eyes that one who shares his or her beliefs about god being real will be killed? Check.
Go for “Super Martyrdom” and share it anyway.
The benefits of what one has been taught and what one has learned are quite overrated.
