THE TWO POINTERS OFFERED IN FLOYD HENDERSON’S UPDATED “FINAL” TALKS:
Making It Simpler and Keeping It Even More Down to Earth
Some seekers that visited with Maharaj over the years during which he was sharing pointers often asked him to “get to the bottom line and give us the simplest way to realize, period.”
The same was asked many times by seekers that visited here throughout the years. The first part of the answer given to them was this:
“You are asking me to provide as simple and as down-to-earth, non-dual message as possible. Well, that is exactly what I have been inviting you to engage in all along:
Keep it simple by getting down to earth. Why “down to earth?” Because the activities engaged in most frequently and by the most people include activities which not only whip them into an emotional frenzy while the activities are being engaged in but often carry over into influencing their thoughts and words and actions throughout the entire day and keeping them whipped into a frenzy.
And where do the masses go to be whipped into a frenzy? They visit religious and spiritual institutions; they buy tickets to sit in auditoriums and arenas with five to ten thousand other persons to listen to a big name teacher speak;
they visit ashrams and sweat lodges; they attend “revival meetings”; they attend meetings or rallies which trigger the mob mentality engaged in by racists, white supremacists, white nationalists, xenophobes and those who have been trapped in the false identity of “The Livid Victim.”
The second part of the answer is this:
Understand that neither religion nor spirituality can address the plethora of mental problems that now plague mankind; to the contrary, they add to the body of learned ignorance and to the insanity which is based in magical-thinking.
While the number of persons is increasing among those listening to “Eastern-oriented” big name teachers or buying their books as well as the numbers of people attending the meetings organized by racists, white supremacists, white nationalists, xenophobes and those who have been trapped in the false identity of “The Livid Victim,” the number of people attending religious meetings is falling.
In research conducted in 2018 and 2019, 65% of American adults describe themselves as Christians when asked about their religion. That number is down 12 percentage points over the past decade.
Meanwhile, the religiously-unaffiliated share of the population, consisting of people who describe their religious identity as atheist, agnostic or “nothing in particular,” now stands at 26%, up from 17% in 2009.
Yet many leaving organized religion after gaining clarity or after finally leaving behind the sites of their sexual abuse are like those in some twelve step groups who shout at newcomers who explain after hearing all of “the God talk” that they cannot be a part of any religious groups.
What is shouted at those newcomers? “We are not religious,” followed proudly by the declaration that “We are spiritual!!”
Yet for those unaware of what the Ultimate Sickness is and what the treatment for that Sickness is, changing from playing religious roles to assuming the role of “Spiritual Giants” provides no treatment and no improvement. Why?
Because twelve-steppers have been taught that there
is a sickness called “the spiritual malady” which is reportedly the source of all of their
problems.
The fact: Neither religion nor spirituality can deal with a mind problem when they are convinced that the Ultimate Sickness of humankind is either a result of “not having enough dogma or is a result of having an “untreated spiritual malady.”
Many who are leaving religions are turning to “spirituality” instead, so those leaving religion and all of its magical thinking and myths and turning to spirituality instead will find nothing which can have an impact on the most widespread of all of the mental sickness which plagues the masses.
Thus, the down-to-earth invitation applies to those “living with their heads in the clouds”; to those who are so emotionally-intoxicated that they have moved into “Foo-Foo Land”; and to those suffering from the Ultimate (Mental) Sickness whom Maharaj said are being driven by “ignorance, stupidity and insanity.”
So that is the recommendation offered in the course Non-Dual Simplicity 101.
The recommendation offered in the course Non-Dual Simplicity 201 is this:
Seek no identity, including self-identifications and so-called “SELF-IDENTIFICATIONS.”
It is that recommendation which reduced the number of steps in the path offered by Maharaj from seven steps to four steps. The same applies here.
He said, “You need not try to find the answer to the question 'Who Am I?' You but need to find the answer to the question, 'Who and what am I not?'”
To transition the third step and abandon what are often the last three roles which seekers cling to - namely, “The Super Religious One,” “The Spiritual Giant,” and “The Super Seeker” - allows one to move to the fourth step which is called “The Child Ignorance Stage” or “The Child No-Knowing State.”
That state was marked by having no beliefs, by having no false personality identifications, and by abiding in a zero-concepts state.
So, if one would “get to the bottom line and take up the simplest way to realize, period,” then one will stop all of the going and doing and zooming which takes them . . .
to religious groups or spiritual groups
or to anger-and-rage-filled meetings with those playing the role of “The Victim” and spreading their duality-based, different-from, better-than message
or to gathering where persons think that they are spiritual and therefore better-than the religious.
Understand that all is basically energy / matter and that energy / matter has been forever and cannot be created nor destroyed.
Then, understand that if all has always been and was not created, that there cannot be any Creator or any Destroyer god or gods.
Then understand that if there is no Creator and no Destroyer god or gods, there cannot be any Sustainer god that wants your money and your praise and your obedience and your adoration and who is willing to punish you eternally with pain and misery and suffering if you do not give him the above.
As for eternal punishment, note that he will subject you to that, even as he claims to supposedly loves you unconditionally. No wonder so many have been so confused for so long.
Whatever confusion you have experienced in the past as a result of ignorant programming, conditioning, domestication, acculturation, brainwashing, and indoctrination can end if you but realize by casting aside all beliefs and concepts and if you stop hanging out with - and listening to - some of the most-mentally sick humans of all times.
