The Relative Effects of Personality: Fears, Desires and Interrupted Happiness

Why do the non-dual pointers invite persons to discard their identification with personality? (A) The influence of personality results in specific but illusory fears and in specific but unattainable desires. How could happiness possibly happen in a relative existence littered with the anxiety of illusory fears and the frustration of unmet desires? (B) Trapped within the sphere of personality identification, duality manifests. Why?

To believe that any of the various personas that evolve from belief in the personality types can define who you are (for example, “The Perfect One” or “The Helper” or “The Boss,” etc.) will prevent your knowing Who What You Truly Are.

Too, since the cataloguing of personality traits always lists “assets” vs. “liabilities,” then belief in duality is fostered. (C) The lie of multiplicity is reinforced by assuming identification with personality. How? When trapped in the sphere of personality, a person does not exhibit traits of only her / his dominant persona type. When “mentally healthy,” one unconsciously integrates the traits of another type.

If stressed or pious, one disintegrates into the mode of a third type. Further, personas adopt the traits of their two adjacent types, so a Type Three will exhibit Type Two traits as well as Type Four traits. All personality identification, therefore, will ultimately foster the chaos and disorder of living with “multiple personalities.”

The non-dual understanding can (1) provide release from illusory fears and unmet desires via elimination of the belief in the personality and can (2) free persons of the misery generated by personality identification via full realization. The process invites protégés to answer certain key questions:

WHO has a fear? WHO has a desire? WHO wants to be perfect? WHO is taking himself / herself to be a persona with a personality?

To be free of believing that a mirage is real, one must first understand what a mirage is, so the basic fear and the basic desire of Personality Type One - “The Perfectionist” - will be discussed. Russ Hudson pointed out the following about Personality Type Ones:

BASIC FEAR AND BASIC DESIRE

The Type One’s BASIC FEAR is being corrupt or evil or defective

The Type One’s BASIC DESIRE is to be good

The Impact of That Personality Type on The Relative Existence

Consider the effects of trying to live out a relative existence while being trapped in the belief of dualities that tell you that sometimes you are “good” but that more often you are “bad.”

Consider the misery of being programmed and conditioned to think that you are really “corrupt” (as opposed to “honest”), “evil” (as opposed to “moral”), or “defective” (as opposed to “perfect”). 

What a nightmarish existence has to result if one does not realize and thereby free the “self” of the effects of the messages that “you are not good enough,” “you are corrupt and immoral” or “you are nothing more than a living and breathing defect, personified.”

(Also, understand that those messages might be delivered with words but that they can as easily be implanted with a particularly harsh facial expression, by other “body language,” or by other forms of abuse.)

Imagine all of the relative existence pleasures that such a mindset precludes as one spends a lifetime trying to attain the “positive” images in those sets of dualistic evaluations that result when acculturation and programming and conditioning instill the desire to be perfect in order to prove to early critics (as well as current critics) that they are wrong in applying such “negative” labels to you.

Imagine how often natural conduct is blocked and how often supernatural conduct is inspired by what becomes a life-long, unconscious effort to prove that one is good and honest and moral and perfect.

Why Happiness Is Interrupted for Personality Type Ones

Note how acceptance of the influence of this personality type will automatically force persons to be stressed and apprehensive and overly-serious; note how the influence of this personality type will drive personas to always be dissatisfied with themselves;

see how they will be driven to believe that they can never do anything well enough; see how the influence of their personality will drive these persons to feel burdened and unacknowledged and compulsive.

Then, you’ll understand why persons living under the influence of a Type One Personality might claim all day long that they are happy, but with the above factors at work, that belief is just another lie that they take to be truth.

Sure, some fleeting moments of happiness or pleasure might manifest, but as long as the personality is allowed to have its influence, then personality will interrupt happiness and deny the enjoyment of the pleasures of natural, AS IF living.

Freedom from Personality Type One Effects Via Realization

To be free of the frustration of living out a relative existence while being trapped in the dualities of “good” vs. “bad,” “corrupt” vs. “honest”, “evil” vs. “moral”, or “defective” vs. “perfect,” then attainment of the non-duality understanding is required.

“Good” and “bad” are relative. Being relative, they are lies and cannot be defined with any continuity. What is “good” to one person is “bad” to another. So-called “universal truths” or “moral standards” are just as relativistic. 

The same person who claims that "lying is bad" would likely have advised those hiding Jews in WWII to lie if a Nazi asked them if they knew where any Jews were hiding.

If a Type One finds the answer to “Who Am I, really?” then no WHO will remain that can suffer the duality of sometimes feeling “good” and sometimes feeling “bad.” If realized, that person will no longer suffer from the duality of sometimes feeling “evil” while sometimes feeling “moral”;

or experiencing the duality of sometimes feeling “defective” while at other times feeling “perfect.” The former Type One can then be freed from being driven to try to reach the unattainable state of being “perfect” or from being driven to try to meet the unreasonable, dualistic expectations that were set forth by other delusional personas.

 This discussion focuses on the personality type that desires love but that lives in the fear of not getting it and with the unhappiness of never having enough of it. 

A pointer offered in the past said: “Desires and wants and fears and imagined needs are generated by illusory ego-states. Who could be satisfied if constantly experiencing the sensations of desire, want, fear or need?”

Ego-states, in turn, are the result of the personality influences being discussed in this series (which also generate all dualistic beliefs, including: "good vs. bad," "loved vs. not loved," and belief in "a god of evil in opposition to a god of morality.")

Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj offered this pointer: “Only at word level does one think something good or bad will happen; when one identifies with the space, it is the end of good and bad. First of all you identify something as being good or bad for yourself. Then, in an effort to acquire good or to get rid of bad, you have invented a god. Then, you worship such a god . . . and you pray to that god for something good to happen to you.”

Those pointers having been offered, the focus now will be on the basic fear and the basic desire of Personality Type Two - "The Helper." The consideration for Type Two’s is this:

WHO thinks she / he needs love? WHO thinks that he / she is in any position to "help" "others"? WHO is so arrogant as to believe that “others” are obviously far less intelligent, far less capable, and far less gifted than the persona who thinks she / he is most qualified to provide "help" to “others”?

WHO is so egotistical that he / she believes that they know so much that they have the answers for everyone else’s relative world problems? WHO believes that she / he knows what "others" need?

And WHO believes that he / she is the most competent to provide "help"? Russ Hudson pointed out the following about Personality Type Twos:

BASIC FEAR AND BASIC DESIRE

The Type Two’s BASIC FEAR is the fear of not being loved

The Type Two’s BASIC DESIRE is to be loved

The Impact of That Personality Type on The Relative Existence

A Type Two will try to get the love she / he desires by manipulating others into believing that they need the Type Two, that they need what only that one person can offer, that they need the insight that only that one Type Two has, and that they cannot survive without that Type Two person.

That mindset will attract what type persons for Type Twos to deal with on a daily basis? Needy, dependent, easily-influenced persons. The resulting co-dependency and chaos from dealing with the needy people that Twos attract will mar the relative existence of the Type Two. Why?

Because Twos eventually resent all the demands being made upon them by the needy, exploitative persons that their dependency-fostering persona creates, even though the Twos were aggressively seeking out needy people with an excess of relative existence problems and who need the “help” that Type Twos believe (in their huge conceit) that only they can provide.

THE EXPLANATION


If looked at as nouns, they point to illusions and are, therefore, a total waste of time to even discuss; if looked at as verbs which are resulting in certain sane but rare behaviors among humanity, then they are worthy of some attention during the relative existence.

Meaning? There are members of certain groups who say things such as "My concept of god in the past was of a weak god, an absentee god, A Santa Claus-type god, a mean, punishing, vindictive god, etc. Today, I am in close contact with a loving and caring god whom I worship and praise and glorify and give thanks to."

The reply to that usually goes like this: "If you are in contact with a god that wants to be worshipped and praised and glorified, then you're dealing with someone like yourself - a narcissist - and hanging out with narcissists will never bring an end to your narcissism (that narcissism evidenced by the fact that you think you are "godly").

Next, in the phrase 'loving and caring god,' any supposed god that truly had her or his act together would tell you that the totally irrelevant part of that phrase is 'god' and that the only part that is relevant is the "loving and caring" part.

"That is, a non-narcissistic their god / their goddess would say, "I care not an iota about being worshipped and praised and glorified by you or anyone else. How arrogant and insecure and needy would I have to be to want that? Forget the man-made, dreamed up noun 'god' and focus on the 'god as a verb' understanding and then go forth and let loving and caring be verbs - not adjectives - and let them generate the act of love and the act of caring and let those actions manifest through you." 

Yeshu'a (Jesus) and Pope John Paul II and Pope Francis were spot on:


"No one shall ever see 'the kingdom of heaven.' It is within"

and 


"Heaven and earth shall fade away."

--Yeshu'a (Jesus)

and 


"Heaven and hell are not geographic places

but are states of mind, nothing more than

concepts dreamed up by men."

--Pope John Paul II 

"There is no hell."

--Pope Francis, the current pope

in an interview with journalist Eugenio Scalfari,

a writer used by the Pope to issue off the record

teachings which become a part of the Papal Magisterium.

[That said, would that the popes who have shown the courage to reject a core concept of their dogma - namely, "hell" - would find the additional courage required to question the very existence of their institution in light of the centuries-long cover-up of their history of raping children and in light of the mental and emotional and psychological scarring of billions of their members past and present.

And that need for courage also applies as questions need to be asked about why so many other sky cults are still being supported and allowed to continue to exist as well. When certain types of programming and conditioning have been shown to blind the masses, they should end. Will they? Not likely. Why?

Because what the masses think and say and do is most influenced by the international crime families which hold sway over the masses as criminals conduct their planet-wide operations. What are the major international crime families and which are the most influential and have the largest memberships?

The Mafia / La Cosa Nostra; the Catholic Church (with it 1.2 billion followers) whose Vatican Bank worked for decades with the Mafia while laundering mob earnings (for a 15% all-profit charge by the Bank); Protestant and Evangelical Churches (with over 1.2 billion followers) like the one I was raised in where the youth director molested and sexually assaulted young girls; big business which has long created environments in which people have been abused; powerful political bodies like the U.S. Congress, etc., etc., etc.)

With all of those crime families, neither the followers nor the leadership ever voluntarily step down or shut down their criminal activities. Be they gangs, organized crime families, religions, big business, politicians, etc., they all want control and they all want power and they all want money, and nothing internal will interfere with the driving forces at play.

The masses must demand that all those in charge must step down and their groups and institutions must shut down, and there's the real problem because the continuation of their crimes are enabled not as much by the people running such crime organizations as they are enabled by the masses of people who - wanting some perceived "payoff" - remain involved with them and give them money and support them and aid and abet the continued existence of those criminal enterprises and thus facilitate the ability of church criminals and political criminals and other types of criminals to continue to commit their crimes.]
