ANNOUNCEMENTS
[Walter Driscoll asked to interview me in order to preserve on video some of the latest modifications and evolutions in the versions of the message offered here since 1989. He would label the discussion, "Unlearning with Floyd Henderson."
Please note: For those who have a problem hearing what is being shared, the video offers a fairly accurate set of closed captions which some listeners might want to activate.
The interview is available for viewing by clicking on video "NUMBER THIRTEEN" in the column to the right.]
1. [See the offer in gold text following this post for details on how you can watch a retreat on video which includes a detailed discussion of all seven of the steps on the path as used by Maharaj]
2. Here, with those who are still driven to talk about "god," the "Son of god," the "Holy Spirit," "Buddha," "Krishna," etc., etc., etc., the invitation to them is to view those as verbs, not nouns. See the green text after today's post for the full meaning and implications of that.
3. A newer video ("Number Ten: Awakening Together Satsang, March 2018") has now been added in the far right column of this page, offering the opportunity to view a recent 2018 satsang session with Floyd being interviewed by Regina and Jacqueline of "The Awakening Together Group." (See the details in the blue text after this post.)
4. Some prefer paperback books even if they have to wait a day or so to receive it and have to pay more for a printed book and its shipment. Now, 10 paperback books by Henderson are in print and available in two anthologies through Barnes and Noble, Amazon, and over 40,000+ booksellers around the globe including in the Americas, Germany, India, Italy, Poland, Russia, China, Spain, Brazil and South Korea. See the end of this post in red text for details.
5. Would you like to have us send to someone as a gift from you a copy of any ebook in our inventory? See the offer in purple text at the end of this post.
6. Or, you may purchase a Floyd Henderson Shopify Gift Card here for someone and offer recommendations for the books in Floyd's store which might be of assistance to them.
7. You may click here to visit Floyd's bookstore which offers both digital books and paperback books which deal with non-duality, non-duality-based fictional adventures, recovery, and financial budgeting.
IS YOUR RELATIVE EXISTENCE HAPPENING AS IF YOU ARE DANCING LIGHTLY OR AS IF YOU ARE DOING A STIFF, BOOT-STOMPING, GESTAPO-STYLE MARCH?
The masses are like a strand of spaghetti: before proper preparation . . . stiff, unbendable, easily breakable; after proper preparation . . . relaxed, flexible, supple. What is the proper preparation in order for a relative existence to be marked by bliss or happiness or simply by contentment? Full realization.
From the book
What BLISS Is and What BLISS IS Not:
“There is no need to wait. There is no need to believe that the end of suffering must involve 'future' opportunities. The only opportunity is here and now”
and
“Bliss and freedom and happiness and compatibility with nature in the nisarga fashion can only happen NOW.”
From the book
THE MYTH OF DEATH:
“Now there is no post-manifestation dancing going on, but all of this now is the dance for those ‘returning’ . . . returning to their natural state and abiding as that / THAT. And indeed those who have ‘died the death’ of ego and egotism are the only ones currently ‘dancing lightly’.”
Understand, if you would dance lightly, that there is an ever-present, oh-so-sweet, melodic tune being played by the Presence as it strums gently on the strings of the heart.
It cannot be heard if the strings on which it is played have been rendered dissonant by programming; if they have been made cacophonous by conditioning; if they have been reduced to something quite jarring by acculturation;
if they have been left inharmonious by domestication; if their perspective has been twisted by indoctrination; or if their thoughts have been distorted by brainwashing.
Only a peace-robbing, peace-ending harshness will register. The call is to clear away all that blocks the heart, hear the joyous tune of realization, and come to the dance.
Meanwhile, understand that for many among the realized, bliss is simply contentment. Contentment is marked by a steadily-manifested position of neutrality. I do not have to hate those who have used me and stolen from me; I do not have to love those who have used me and stolen from me.
I do not believe in “the other” so I do not have to hate anyone who appears to be different in terms of skin color; who is of a higher or lower economic status; who loves someone of the same sex; or who is driven by the symptoms of the Ultimate Sickness, three of which Maharaj identified as “(learned) ignorance, stupidity, and insanity.”
Bliss / contentment marks the relative existence here as the effects of “ignorance, stupidity, and insanity” are witnessed on a daily basis.
Perceived crises (be they local or national or international) come; and perceived crises go. With a caller going through the angst of an overloaded and presently chaotic existence and seeking “the way out” or at least “the way through,” I shared the modified version of an old adage used here on occasion: “This too shall pass, but not nearly soon enough for you.”
The word “wilderness” has its roots in the Old English term “wildeornes.” It derives from the combination of “wilde,” meaning wild or untamed, and “ornes,” referring to a dwelling or place. In its early usage, “wilderness” denoted a wild or uncultivated land.
Earlier, the word also carried the connotation of “a place to be passed through; not a place to linger.” Often, what was found on the other side of a wilderness were things which helped navigate the relative existence, but one still had to pass through the wilderness to get there. Same nowadays.
In the wilderness, there is no time to dance and there is no inclination to dance. That comes after reaching the other side where those things which helped navigate the relative existence could be found. Once there, dancing lightly could happen.
An actual wilderness could generate physical pain, but the degree of that pain cannot compare to the mental suffering which can also arise if stuck in a wilderness.
Eventually, if fully realized, there are no mental movements churning away between the ears; a mosquito might buzz about one’s ear and require that it be swatted away, but the power of any irritants can be avoided if one abides sanely.
You alone much define what is acceptable during the relative existence and what is not, but that cannot happen if one is not totally freed from having one’s thoughts and words and actions being driven by ignorance and stupidity and insanity and desires and fears.
When that is the case, one is like a piece of rotting driftwood near a shoreline, being pushed forward then pulled backwards by the unsteady waves. Back and forth; back and forth; hence, the non-dualist Yeshu’a (mistakenly called “Jesus”) purportedly said, “A dual-minded person is unstable in all ways.”
Like a piece of rotting driftwood, being pushed and pulled by outside forces rather than being stable on the outside by first being stable on the inside.
When one who cares about me calls to check in or check up, if the call is to be extended then there is an unspoken agreement that we will dance lightly through les sujets du jour.
THE INVITATION TO ENTER “THE DANCE HALL”
There
should be nothing about a “no-mind” existence that is difficult to accept.
Anyone who has gone to see a movie or a play on the stage of a theater has
entered into that no-mind state for a least part of the time.
All is merely being witnessed with the witnessing pure and universal consciousness remaining totally silent. The “mind”
goes into neutral, at least for part of the time there, so no thought at all is
arising as all of the events are being witnessed.
So what makes the movement along the “path” so challenging when the point is
reached where the “mind” must be left behind if the “journey” is to be
completed in full? In the book, The Path to Freedom vs. The Path to Misery,
this pointer is offered:
“For most, the search begins when seekers think that they need new concepts to
replace their old ones. And there’s the rub. Many versions of non-dual messaging
will fill that bill, but here, the nisarga approach affirms that no ‘replacement
beliefs are necessary.’
The
direct path method and the nisarga yoga make clear that there is no replacement
and that it is senseless to try to make sense of the senseless.”
When the doctors removed cancerous polyps, they did not ask, “Now, what would you like us to put in their place?” It would be insane to have the source of
misery removed but to want something substituted in place of that source of
suffering.
To be realized fully, all beliefs much be cast aside, and no beliefs are to be accepted as replacements.
To be continued.
Please enter into the silence of contemplation.
