From a site visitor, continued from earlier postings: “Why do you put path and journey in quote marks? The path I’m following on my spiritual journey is very real.”
F.: Should you come to know this consciousness thoroughly, you will come to the conclusion that it's useless. Why? It's the vehicle that transports all that is nothing more than a hoax. Freed of conditioned consciousness, it will be seen that the functioning can happen quite well without being conscious (or “being conscious of”). The functioning can certainly happen without giving any attention to “I am this or that” and eventually even without giving any attention to the “I Am.” He who needed to focus on “I AM…I AM…I AM…I AM” in order to break the attachment to the “I am this role or that role” will ultimately pay no attention even to the “I Am.” Yes, as one transitions beyond roles and shifts toward reality, abidance in the “I Am” happens first; but soon, belief in doership disappears and attachment to the consciousness of "I AM" fades; then abidance can happen in the Absolute with the absence of even that “I Am” consciousness. Knowing I AM THAT (and knowing THAT is beyond the false selves, the True Self, the beingness and even the non-beingness) frees the Realized from entrapment in this consciousness during the remainder of the relative existence. I AM THAT and so are You, but once it’s known, why consider it any longer? Maybe a child who has finally realized that he has been named “John” will delight in walking about telling everyone “I’m John…I’m John…I’m John,” but who other than a child would sanction such nonsense? Walk about this relative existence mumbling “I AM…I AM…I AM” or tell everyone you meet “I AM THAT…I AM THAT…I AM THAT” and you’ll soon only be able to tell your fellow inmates in a mental institution that you are THAT. Tell a spouse who is still fully asleep that you are the “I AM” and be prepared to see eyes rolling toward the ceiling and prepare for her to visit the “Attorneys” section of the telephone directory. You may even be assigned a new identity, such as “New Age Agent of Satan.” These teachings are not for public venues. They should be offered only to those who seek them out. (Christ forgot that and, after sharing some Advaita principles, after denying publicly that heaven exists externally, after turning his back on their holy buildings, after abandoning their holy texts, after abandoning organized religion completely, and after demanding that he be spoken of as I AM, they killed him. The irony is that, afterwards, his "followers" declared publicly that there is a heaven, began building holy buildings, began studying a new holy text, created a new organized religion, and never again spoke of him as "I AM." And all of that was done, and is done, in the name of "Jesus" rather than "I AM." Such is the functioning of the impure consciousness when manifested in those who walk about in their sleep while shouting to others to "Wake up!")
Those today whose paths in public places cross that of “floyd” hear nothing about Realization. The relative "life" just happens spontaneously. Nothing is being done because it is clear that no doer exists. Relaxation and taking it easy just happen automatically. That is not the case with you. You have a desire...a desire to force your spirituality on others, to make them aware of how spiritual you, to show publicly the "humbling" spirituality that you are so proiud of, and to make them and the world “better” (duality) in the same way that you believe your spirituality has made you better. If that were not true, why would you ask, “Why do you put path and journey in quote marks? The path I’m following on my spiritual journey is very real.” Before any further shift toward Realization can happen, you must first see that everything you’ve ever taken to be real is totally false, including your spiritual role and the spiritual path you think you’re on and your spiritual journey and the notion that you are “better” (or “better than”?) for all that.
Yet once the “identification” is with the Absolute, and once it is realized that THAT which I AM is beyond both beingness and non-beingness, where is there any room for belief in a “human being,” in an “eternal being,” or in “supreme vs. non-supreme beings”? The question for you is, “Do you know that? Have You Realized THAT?” The answer is “No” since, if you had, where would be any basis for the “spiritual being” you’ve assumed as an identity? You’re not even a human being, much less any other kind of being. This “spiritual journey” you speak of—this spiritual seeking of yours—inspires the accumulation of more knowledge even as you likely claim you’re giving up attachment to accumulating worldly things. Accumulation is accumulation, and all spiritual beliefs are also worldly things, all dreamed up by worldly men who want worldly power and worldly control over other people and by worldly men who assumed a “spiritual ego-state” as you have. It’s all nonsense. Why?
Because all your so-called “spiritual work” evolves from your body identification and is really about “body work” and your petty desire for continuity and permanence. As a part of the motivation for your spiritual activities, you likely want your body to stop doing “bad” things or you celebrate the fact that your body is no longer doing “bad” things. You want your body to engage only in “good” things or you celebrate the fact that your body is now doing only “good” things. You want your body to last forever. You want your body to experience an eternal reward. You want your body to avoid eternal punishment. Well, it shall. It shall return to dust and, as dust, will experience no punishment…or anything else. And that is another reason your journey is nonsense. As with most, you want to talk about spiritual issues but your agenda is really about body issues. If you are reading this, the mind chatter (and maybe the emotionally-intoxicating anger it can generate) is likely increasing. The mind-flow and the thought-flow are also part of the hoax of consciousness because the “mind” is a fraud, a repository of all the learned ignorance which you have accumulated. Ignore that mind-flow too. It is all untrue. Only your ego-states can experience emotional intoxication and anger. Only your ego-states can seemingly talk to “you.” Only your ego wants to have a family name live on forever, wants to be missed when gone, wants to remembered by some legacy it leaves behind, or wants to leave its mark in history...or at least in granite. Let it all go. Be done with it all and just BE. The “I-Amness” will disappear. Let it go now and be free of its corrupting influence.
How could there be any logical desire for “floyd” to be remembered “then” if he doesn’t even exist “now”? How could “floyd” hope his words will be heard for eternity if they are not even being heard now? The will makes clear: spend $700 to cremate and then scatter ashes. Do not spend $12,000 for a special service for persons to gape at the elemental remains from which the consciousness has unmanifested, to say some special lies, to buy a special box, to buy a special hole in a special locale, and to buy a special marker so persons will know where to come for eternity to visit…what? (What egotistical, valueless nonsense has evolved since persons living in the ego-state of “I am a Christian” first came to believe the nonsense that bodies will resurrect and must, therefore, be subjected to such barbaric rites and such silly efforts to try to “show respect to” an insignificant handful of elements and to try to “preserve” an insignificant handful of elements. )
The realization begins to happen (a) when you see that you are not who or what you think you are (b) when attachment to body identification and the desire for continuity ends (c) when an end to the “mind” comes about and (d) when all personas are abandoned or transitioned—including religious personas and spiritual personas. You may continue to talk of your “spiritual journey,” or you might transition that latest role you’ve assumed and discover Full Realization. An option you have not had before has now been presented. Please enter the silence of contemplation. [To be continued]
