[Continued from yesterday’s post]
From a site visitor: “You wrote: ‘But once Realization happens, the ‘I Am’ is seen for its worthlessness.’ If you’re saying the consciousness is worthless, I don’t get that at all.”
F.: To see how the conceptual consciousness is a worthless perpetuator of the belief in duality and separation, look to a word that identifies one of the most highly-prized concepts across the planet by the contaminated consciousness: “holy.” The original meaning of the word “holy” is “different from.” Those who use the word still refer to its original meaning because, even as they speak of “unity,” their beliefs are rooted in the concepts of “separate,” “better than,” and “different from others”—all dualistic concepts. “Holy” land is different from other land? Any geologist can prove that’s a lie, so any perceived difference is in “the mind” only, and the “mind” is only given credibility by the contaminated consciousness.
In the final analysis—that is, with the final understanding—it is seen that both the “mind” and the consciousness are worthless. The consciousness can serve as a thorn used to remove thorns, but that’s all relative-existence-stuff, too. For now, use it in that fashion and then be done with it. The “mind,” on the other hand, is an impediment to the removal of thorns. To use thorns to remove thorns, the obstacle of the “mind” must be discarded first. The “mind” fades away when its content is questioned and seen to be false…entirely false.
It is known by regular visitors to this site that the “mind” is nothing but the aggregate of all the lies and concepts that have been taught and that prevent (1) the living of a natural, AS IF life under the auspices of the brain and that (2) inspires the living of an unnatural (or super-natural) life under the effects of the “mind” which is the accumulation of the corruption that results via enculturation, programming and conditioning. Efforts to “escape misery” or “escape suffering” are futile. Beyond physical pain (which is registered by the consciousness) there is no misery or suffering except as thinking seems to make it so. (Though an ego-state like "employee" may appear to be dying when fired from a job, nothing is really dying at all in that instance.) So stop thinking. Thoughts are worthless. Consciousness is worthless. Know THAT which precedes consciousness, and then abide as the Absolute that You Are.
It has been asked, “But if thoughts are realized to be worthless and I want thoughts to stop, how can I accomplish that?” The response is, “By giving up all beliefs” (which amount to nothing more than nonsense anyway and which you chose no more than you chose the consciousness). The only thing your thinking mind can be involved with is the learned ignorance that “the mind” is, so be rid of the thinking mind and live under the auspices of the brain that is attuned to natural, intuitive living. Then, stop loving the consciousness and its sustenance of the illusions of body and mind and personas. Only by transitioning beyond focusing on the manifested, limited consciousness can the unlimited, unmanifest Absolute be Realized. Only by forfeiting all of the value that you give to the consciousness—thus breaking the attachment to the consciousness—can you be free to participate in an AS IF-style of natural, generally-undisturbed living that happens while abiding as the Absolute. (And if relative existence disturbances happen, they can merely be witnessed; then, any feelings around such happenings can rise and can fall.) See that the consciousness is, at its “relative best,” a thorn that can be used to remove all thorns. Then, be done with the consciousness, too, and abide as the Absolute that You Truly Are. Please enter the silence of contemplation.
