F.: As this discussion of “prior to conception” continues, note why so few will ever Realize, Martha. You do not yet understand the teaching, but at least you are open enough to ask the question and to consider the response.
It is the opposite refusal among persons to even consider any possibilities other than those that have been passed along via programming and conditioning and acculturation that locks non-Realized persons in the darkness of the ignorance to which they have been cast as a result of having been taught beliefs by ignorant persons.
When the goal of 6 billion+ persons on the planet who profess unquestioning allegiance to the male god of Abraham is to take pride in their resolute faith (that is, pride in their learned ignorance), then reason and rationality shall not be employed and truth shall never be known.
Note the relative consequences: when 50% of a population of 300 million people condemn anything that they consider “intellectual” and exhibit pride over being ignorant, what chance Realization? What chance any sense of unity? What chance any effort to unite…to share an understanding of the unicity?
When most adults on this planet do not know “how babies are made,” then what chance is there that any Advaitin teacher—including Christ in his last years—can possibly awaken such sleepwalkers to reality and truth?
A woman who is a devout Christian has regularly attended worship services from childhood to now. She has heard over 2,500 sermons in which preachers encouraged her to have faith, to believe without question, and to accept what she is told as gospel (and Gospel) truth.
What she has never heard from any of those men—yes, men—is an encouragement to use logic and reason…to put everything she has been told in her life to an objective test. Not once out of 2,500+ times has that suggestion been offered.
And when 6+ billion people are programmed similarly, what are the odds that the invitation from this forum to “question everything that you have ever been told” will ever fall on anything other than deaf ears?
So programmed and conditioned is this woman who has sat through 55 years of sermons about faith that even when she does not understand Advaitin pointers attributed to her “Savior” she will refuse to consider their meaning.
When she is asked about such statements as “Before Abraham was, I AM” and “When you speak of me, speak of me as I AM” and “Heaven and earth shall fade away” and “No one shall ever see the kingdom of heaven for it is within,” she will refuse to enter into any discussion at all about those pointers. Why?
Because they contradict her basic, simplistic, dualistic beliefs about “good and bad” and “heaven and hell” and “reward and punishment.” So trapped in her desires and fears is she—and so determined to cling to an unwavering faith that will supposedly guarantee reward and heaven and eternal continuity of a body and mind and personality—that she will not even look objectively at the very words attributed to her “Lord.”
To the contrary, she will pick and choose instead the passages that reinforce her learned ignorance. She will claim in one breath that she understands this world (and the next) because her god answers her during her prayers; yet in the next breath she can claim that her god “works in mysterious ways and cannot always be understood.”
So it is, yet when it is that way, how can any understanding of truth manifest?
Thus, one factor that closes off the opportunity for persons to understand where they were prior to conception is their programming. Another is their assumption of ego-states (and the accompanying egotism) which both lock persons into the belief that there is some magical, supernatural element to conception that makes them special.
The following pointers have been shared before but will be offered again as a consideration that might free some of the ignorance that accompanies their egotistical beliefs about conception which is nothing more than a totally natural—not a supernatural—event:
Martha, and all site visitors, you are being invited to Realize that, rather than being the blessed, planned event which most egos want to believe they were, you—and all persons—could not have been farther removed from the mind of either parent at the time that an orgasm led to a conception.
Realize that nothing else other than a natural act of friction was involved and that there was no magical plan to “make you.” Understand that nothing more was involved than (1) an act of pleasure—at least for the male—and (2) a sperm cell and an egg.
Realize that there is no truth in the relative existence, much less what some today are suggesting: that there is a courtroom in the sky with clerks who are recording and filing contracts with souls-on-ice that are waiting in mass in some soul storage facility, ready to “be born” and then enter into "agreements."
There are no pre-arranged “agreements” that persons forget after being “born”; they will not be driven by a god to labor intensively to find their “purpose” by assuming a dozen or so ego-states but eventually choosing one that fulfills the obligations of their pre-birth “contract.”
Realize that there is no “other-world power” that (a) controls the course of trillions of sperm cells a day while (b) simultaneously listening to the mutterings of billions of people and deciding whether to send a “yes” or “no” or “later” answer to their selfish requests and then (c) manipulating the actions of billions of persons and trillions of other “life-forms” and (d) being aware even if a sparrow falls.
Realize that there is no such thing as an angel watching over you, much less multiple gods that are watching over you and all “birth processes” and “life processes” and "death processes."
You must abandon all magical thinking if you would understand where you were prior to conception, if you would understand what is going to happen post-manifestation, and if you would be free of belief in all nonsense and thereafter be free, period. Are you ready, for the readiness is all? Please enter the silence of contemplation. (To be continued)
