DE-AWESOME-FYING NON-DUAL TERMINOLOGY
To continue with more on the rationale for this series:
1. Among the 7+ billion non-realized persons on planet earth, 97% reported in a survey that they limit their “search area” to the space beneath the roof a church or basilica or cathedral or temple or the meeting room of a “spiritual group” or a wat or mosque or synagogue or gurdwara. Actually, they seldom seek because they are convinced that they have found. They are taught to “question nothing” and to “accept with blind faith” whatever they are taught.
2. The same applies to the millions supposedly seeking in particular rooms or a loft or a home or a borrowed gathering space or via a particular ideology, cult, philosophy, or theory.
3. Of those seeking via a system of pointers which included the invitation to “question everything,” few question it all.
4. Here, “non-dualists” are encouraged to “question it all” and then an expanded caveat is added: “even question every non-dual pointer you’ve ever heard or read.”
5. Long before Maharaj shared pointers on the bogus beliefs regarding body and mind and personality identification; and long before he advised seekers to abandon their religious and spiritual role-playing; and long before he advised them to give up their spiritual workaholism and merely abide naturally, he laid the groundwork for all the pointers to come by saying, “Question everything.”
He meant with those words that every belief accumulated by listening to others and by reading the words of others and by going to gatherings (where those he derided as “Big Name Teachers” were collecting millions of dollars a year from seekers) must be questioned.
6. There have been millions of religious and spiritual and philosophical and ideological and Eastern and, yes, even non-dual concepts / beliefs which billions of humans have taken to be “awesome.”
In addition to “awesome,” so many simple and basic parts of the non-dual understanding have been “elevated in status” in a most supercilious, pompous fashion, reporting that various elements of the message are “noble,” “other-worldly,” “extraordinary,” “exceptional,” “distinctive,” and “exclusive.” None of them were, and none of them are.
7. This series is offering a different perspective about those concepts / beliefs / pointers / whatever.
So far in this series, it has been shown that - far from being “awesome concepts or teachings” - there is actually no validity or logic at all to such concepts or teachings as . . .

WHO-ness and / or who-ness
and
“SELF-Actualization”
and
“SELF-Realization”
and
“self-realization” (unless referring to the fact that one has realized that all assigned or assumed selves are illusions as are all assumed Selves as well)
and
liberation
and
enlightenment, awakening, and spiritual awakening,
and
“the Spiritual Malady”
and
higher consciousness
and
noble truths
and
how to know God
and
finding your life’s purpose
and
how to find peace of mind
and, relatedly,
mindfulness
and
becoming who you are
and
having an ageless body and timeless mind
and
karma
and
“Infinite Self” and “Supreme Self” and “Eternal Self”
and
birth-death-rebirth cycles
and
“The Universe”
and
“the work” / “spiritual work” / “spiritual workaholism”
and
contrary types vs. contrarians
and
being blessed and having blesséd days
and
the power of now
and
the pure, universal consciousness
and
“I am consciousness”
and
“Consciousness is all there is.”
Today, the discussion turns to . . .
NOTHING IS REAL.
“Nothing is real” is a comment I’ve being hearing for thirty years. I saw in the past certain blog sites using that phrase as a title. I saw websites with that phrase as a title.
So “nothing is real?” Really? BS.
Understand that “non-dualists” have something very much in common with certain groups which they disparage, including “The Super Religious,” “Philosophers,” “Ideologues,” and other zealous supports. What is that?
A tendency to take something that sounds lofty and repeat it without any investigation or consideration of what they are repeating; or, a tendency to take a pointer that is “floating about in the neighborhood of a non-dual truism” but that’s not quite there and has been warped just enough to be total BS.
Such is the case when listeners and repeaters hear a pointer which seems to be “noble,” “other-worldly,” “extraordinary,” or “exceptional.”
While “nothing is real” is a totally bogus comment / concept, it might be “in the neighborhood of a legitimate, accurate, non-dual pointer,” such as “Nothing is as it appears to be.”
An example used here to illustrate the pointer is “a brick” and “bricks which can be used to construct a wall.”
“A brick” is no more what it appears to be to the naked eye than a person is or a human body is when viewed with the naked eye.
As defined on the internet, “an electron microscope is a microscope that uses a beam of accelerated electrons as a source of illumination. As the wavelength of an electron can be up to 100,000 times shorter than that of visible light photons, electron microscopes have a higher resolving power than light microscope and can reveal the structure of smaller objects.”
No one can see covid cells floating about in an aerosol form, no matter how concentrated they might be in any given area.
However, were one to use an electron microscope to look at the covid virus at a cellular level, an image now familiar to millions could be observed:
The same is true of a brick viewed via the use of an electron microscope:
Note, also, the predominance of space. As pointed out here, while most things are taken to be “solid,” items seen under an electron microscope can be shown to be mostly space.
At an even more magnified view, the subatomic particles which can be seen to be racing about if viewed using an electron microscope are quite real. Yet what they are is nothing close to what a brick appears to be to the naked eye.
The same applies with roles. A person might appear to be a good business person, a good spouse, a good parent, or a good Christian or Jew or Muslim or Buddhist, but their case is the same as with the brick viewed close-up:
Their assigned or assumed roles as identities, if viewed close-up, will be seen by the wise to be something quite different.
When a woman said to me that nothing is real, I raised the issue with bricks and bricks used to build a brick wall.
I suggested that she put her back to a brick wall and step off 20 paces. Then, I suggested that she bend at the waist so that the top of her heard is aimed at the wall; then, begin running, race as fast as you can, and smash into the wall as hard as you can.
When you come too and your concussion clears up enough to discuss your experience, I will ask, “So is that wall not real?”
It will be understood that it is quite real, but under an electron microscope, it simply is not as it seems, is not as it appear to be.
And that applies to all: nothing is as it appears to be, but it is quite real nevertheless.
