DE-AWESOME-FYING NON-DUAL TERMINOLOGY
The Rationale:
There have been millions of religious and spiritual and philosophical and ideological and Eastern and, yes, even non-dual concepts / beliefs which billions of humans have taken to be “awesome.” In addition to “awesome,” so many simple and basic parts of the non-dual understanding have been “elevated in status” in a most supercilious, pompous fashion with persons reporting that various elements of the message are “noble,” “other-worldly,” “extraordinary,” “exceptional,” “distinctive,” and “exclusive.” None of them were, and none of them are.
This series is offering a different perspective about those concepts / beliefs / pointers / whatever.
So far, it has been shown that - far from being “awesome concepts or teachings” - there is actually no validity or logic at all to such concepts or teachings as . . .
continuity;
WHO-NESS and / or who-ness;
“SELF-Actualization”;
“SELF-Realization”;
“self-realization” (unless referring to the fact that one has realized that all assigned or assumed selves are illusions as are all assumed Selves as well)
and
liberation
and
enlightenment, awakening, and spiritual awakening,
and
the “Spiritual Malady”
and
the “Higher Consciousness.”
Today, the discussion moves to this concept:
NOBLE TRUTHS
Noble truths? Really? So for some, truth is not enough? Only “noble truths” will do?
When that term is mentioned, many are reminded of the teachings of Buddhism (uh oh . . . there’s that nightmarish term “teachings” again). Their Four Noble Truths are supposedly "the truths of the Noble Ones," the truths or realities for the "spiritually worthy ones."
Talk about duality. So there are some who are spiritually worthy and many more who are not spiritually worthy? To those types, Maharaj said, “So many of you mistake yourselves to be spiritual giants. Next to you, I am but a spiritual pygmy.”
Thus, the notions about "some truths being noble and some not being noble" are not limited to Buddhism.
So it must be asked, "What level of ego-state-inspired arrogance and egotism is present among those who count believe in the dualistic belief of "spiritually worthy ones" vs. "not spiritually worthy ones"?
Humility is defined as “a modest (or ‘low’) view of one’s own importance. Few problems which occur with two persons or two communities or two nations could occur were it not for “pride.”
[Some speak of “false pride,” but that’s another term which could be added to the list of oxymorons offered last week. All pride is false, based in a set of false beliefs and supported and perpetuated by false identities and false “Identities.”]
Pride has been defined as “A feeling of deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one’s own achievements or the achievements of those with whom one is associated or from accumulated ‘qualities or possessions’ which are widely admired throughout a culture.”
(Of course, there is only one type of achievement, and that is “an imagined, (totally imaginary) achievement, imagined by arrogant persons or by those who champion the enhancement of the “self-image” of such persons.)
The
content of such supposedly “holy scriptures” as those in the “Old Testament of
the Bible” and “the New Testament of the Bible” and the “Qur’an” were
plagiarized from the oral messaging which had long been circulated in the Middle East
and the Far East but being repeated in supposedly "God-inspired texts."
One such pointer which was shared long before the Torah or Bible or Qur'an were pinned was, “Pride precedes the fall.”
So one can argue about “the value of pride” or about “the benefits of building up the self-esteem of our wonderful child who is in the accelerated, rapid-learners program at school,” but the end result of pride is the BS belief that one is noble and is a member of what is believed to be one noble group or another.
Maharaj said, “Truth is simple and available to all” and then asked, “Why do you complicate?”
He said, “Truth gives no advantage. It gives no higher status, no power over others; all you get is truth and freedom from the false.”
And here’s a more modern take on another old adage: “The truth will set you free, but it’s really going to piss you off first.”
Since most cannot handle even the most simple of truths about themselves (i.e., their false selves), what is the likelihood that they will embrace any supposedly “noble truth”?
The possibility is only likely if they believe they are associating with “noble truths” and around “noble venues” and with “noble religious persons” or with “noble, spiritual persons” or with “noble, spiritually worthy ones."
Was there a time when I was being driven by such motives? Yes. What did I find, eventually? I found that I was at more peace and that I was far more content after I stopped spending so much time and energy in a quest to associate with “noble types” and their “noble truths” and started staying at home and sitting in the quiet instead.
To be continued.
