DE-AWESOME-FYING NON-DUAL TERMINOLOGY
To continue with more on the rationale for this series:
1. Among the 7+ billion non-realized persons on planet earth, 97% reported in a survey that they limit their “search area” to the space beneath the roof a church or basilica or cathedral or temple or the meeting room of a “spiritual group” or a wat or mosque or synagogue or gurdwara. Actually, they seldom seek because they are convinced that they have found. They are taught to “question nothing” and to “accept with blind faith” whatever they are taught.
2. The same applies to the millions supposedly seeking in particular rooms or a loft or a home or a borrowed gathering space or via a particular ideology, cult, philosophy, or theory.
3. Of those seeking via a system of pointers which included the invitation to “question everything,” few question it all.
4. Here, “non-dualists” are encouraged to “question it all” and then an expanded caveat is added: “even question every non-dual pointer you’ve ever heard or read.”
5. Long before Maharaj shared pointers on the bogus beliefs regarding body and mind and personality identification; and long before he advised seekers to abandon their religious and spiritual role-playing; and long before he advised them to give up their spiritual workaholism and merely abide naturally, he laid the groundwork for all the pointers to come by saying, “Question everything.”
He meant with those words that every belief accumulated by listening to others and by reading the words of others and by going to gatherings (where those he derided as “Big Name Teachers” were collecting millions of dollars a year from seekers) must be questioned.
6. There have been millions of religious and spiritual and philosophical and ideological and Eastern and, yes, even non-dual concepts / beliefs which billions of humans have taken to be “awesome.”
In addition to “awesome,” so many simple and basic parts of the non-dual understanding have been “elevated in status” in a most supercilious, pompous fashion, reporting that various elements of the message are “noble,” “other-worldly,” “extraordinary,” “exceptional,” “distinctive,” and “exclusive.” None of them were, and none of them are.
7. This series is offering a different perspective about those concepts / beliefs / pointers / whatever.
So far in this series, it has been shown that - far from being “awesome concepts or teachings” - there is actually no validity or logic at all to such concepts or teachings as . . .

seekers’ propensities: To talk rather than listen
Today, the discussion turns to . . .
SEEKERS’ PROPENSITIES:
Go and do and zoom rather than relax in the silence
Frequent visitors to this site are well aware that anything shared here regarding insane levels of going and doing and zooming rather than relaxing in the silence are sharings based in my own experiences when I turned a short path limited to a few steps into a long, labor-intensive journey covering hundreds of thousands of miles and including years of unnecessarily-grueling and strenuous effort.
The consideration came that maybe - just maybe - there were some questions (and some answers to those questions) which I should seek.
What drove me to reach a point where a constant nagging contemplation about seeking some answers would not go away? The awareness which more and more frequently seeped into consciousness, namely, the awareness that “I am tired . . . really, really tired.”
I had hit a wall and was forced, mostly involuntarily, to pause, to stop, to interrupt the insane levels of going and doing and zooming which seemed as if they might actually lead to an early demise. More insanely, at that time, the notion of an early demise did not seem the least bit scary. That is how tired I had become.
Ever hear anyone talking about being “dead tired”? I suddenly had a clearer understanding of that phrase.
Hitting that wall and being forced to stop would set into motion such extreme and continuous levels of going and doing and zooming that the newly-assumed personas of “The Super Seeker” generated an even more challenging existence.
It led to so many obsessive thoughts and so many compulsive actions that finally I hit another wall and the awareness was, “Hey ass, this ‘new and improved’ existence of seeking to be better is leaving me even more tired than the original existence which inspired what I’m doing now.”
Like soybean which takes on the flavor of whatever it is surrounded with, my seeking surrounded me with go-ers, do-ers, and zoom-ers; with OCD types; with fanatics; with religious and philosophical and spiritual workaholics;
with groups whose entire membership were unconsciously suffering from spiritual intoxication and from the delusion that they had been crazy but had suddenly been made sane by “getting close to God” (even though they were still as batshit crazy as they had ever been).
I became the soybean and took on the flavor of all of them, so helpless and vulnerable to their influence I had become.
Those who have read “The Vision” (available for free above) are aware that the tiredness put me on my back in the living area of a third story condo on a lake.
Again, I became more tired in the seeking spirituality mode than I had been in the prior seeking action and in the going and doing and zooming mode (which never stopped but simply changed venues for years).
My going and doing and zooming was forced into a pause mode after “the good floyd” hit a second wall as solidly as “the bad floyd” had hit the first wall.
I would come to understand what had driven my going and doing and zooming and saw that the same factors were driving millions - if not billions - of persons.
[There is currently a widespread parallel to “my story.” With the covid pandemic having taken a huge impact which led to businesses closing and workers being laid off or fired, millions in the U.S. “hit a wall.” They were forced to slow down or pause or stop.
Many entered a different go-do-zoom stage for a while, seeking employment and putting out hundreds of resumes, only to find for millions of would-be workers that jobs were not available for them. By the time jobs began opening up again, a shortage of workers drove wages and offers up.
Yet millions of workers have now remained on the sidelines - even after employment benefits have run out - and they are not returning to their old jobs even when wages are offered that are two and three times more than they were working for.
The pause allowed them to slow down enough, to see that the American Dream which they had bought into and cherished and wanted so passionately to last forever, was seen to be the American Scream instead.
Following the Anglo-Saxon model (which was touted at the entrance to the Auschwitz Death Camp in WWII) they bought into the concept in the motto of the Germanic / British types that “Work Will Set You Free.”
For the first time, some workers paused long enough to see that their work had not set them free but instead locked them up in something akin to a prison.
They hit a wall which left them stranded at a fork in their path and they are pausing to re-evaluating what made them so tired and what steps and what changes might have to manifest before they continue.
It seems that the batteries in many cases have been removed from the economic-fear vehicle they had been riding in for so long. Some are looking at their Europeans counterparts who had long gotten medical care;
who had long received far higher wages; who had long received extended periods of paid vacation needed for them to recharge their batteries; who get paid family leave if a couple had a child or has an adult in their family who becomes ill and needs medical assistance;
who have for decades had longer life expectancy stats; who have long had higher and cleaner water and air; who have long had safer work conditions; who have long enjoyed higher education levels;
who have long enjoyed a far better work-life balance; who have long enjoyed shorter work weeks, allowing for mental health improvement by engaging in pleasant and fulfilling activities outside the workplace; etc.
The current state for millions is the state I reach after hitting the second wall. It was time once again to stop, assess, evaluate, and made some conscious decisions about what the relative existence could and should look like on an individually-determined basic rather than on a culturally-determined basis.]
So in addition to realizing what acculturation had done to convince me to ride the cultural-expectation train through life, I saw other factors which formed and drove the go-do-zoom mindset here.
After realizing, I added another item to the long list of what many in the U.S. have become addicted to. The new addition to that list: chaos. And where is the home of chaos in humans? In the mind.
Yeshu’a: “Dual-minded persons are unstable in all ways.”
If the mind is chaotic, everything in one’s environment will reflect that chaos as well.
On my A.M. walks, I pass the work truck of an AC-Heating contractor which he parks on the street. The dashboard is a seven-inch high landfill.
Garbage, empty drink cups, and morsels of food crushed inside wrappers, all of which has obviously been accumulated for months, is stacked inside. The passenger seats are buried under twelve inches of trash. The back of the truck looks like a bomb went off inside the bed.
His front yard is also always covered in trash. His garage is so full of junk that he cannot park a vehicle inside. Can you likely guess what his house looks like inside? If so, then can you probably guess what his mind looks like inside?
Garbage in; garbage out. Chaos in; chaos out, covering the surrounding environment.
Moreover, if the mind is going and doing and zooming, then the body will follow.
That explains why some persons drive at twice the posted speed limit. If the posted maximum speed is 30mph, they drive at 60mph. If the posted maximum speed is 60mph, they drive at 120mph. Their entire day is a race, and the enemy is anyone who is blocking their race track / public roadways. Why?
If
the mind is racing at “120mph,” then at 60mph they feel disjointed. Their body-mind components
are not aligned, are not “in tune” with each other, so there is no balance or equilibrium
between the two. Misery results.
How does an insane mind, with a speed which is generating a lack of peace and calm and balance and harmony and concord, subconsciously try to address that state? Since most cannot slow the speed of the mind, then they will accelerate the speed of the body. The body becomes driven to try to match the mind’s pace.
The usual perception is that one in prison is sitting in a small cell most of the day and not moving. As for the millions who are trapped in the prison of the mind, they are going and doing and zooming, whether sitting or racing about.
What would you guess is the speed of your mind, if it could be clocked?
20mph?
60mph?
100mph?
The experience here is that, among the wise, it is preferable to hit a wall figuratively rather than to hit a wall literally.
To be continued.
