DE-AWESOME-FYING NON-DUAL TERMINOLOGY
The Rationale
There have been millions of religious and spiritual and philosophical and ideological and Eastern and, yes, even non-dual concepts / beliefs which billions of humans have taken to be “awesome.” None of them were, and none of them are.
This series is offering a different perspective about those concepts / beliefs / pointers / whatever.
[Continued from yesterday]
THE SPIRITUAL MALADY, Part Two
To review:
The problem: Sometimes persons spend consider amounts of time and energy to try to treat an illness or sickness or condition which they are told they have but which is actually based in a misdiagnosis which puts a label to a condition which they do not have at all.
Medical “experts” and psychiatric “experts” and religious “experts” and spiritual “experts” have been misdiagnosing what ails persons for thousands of years and continue to do so to this day.
To continue: a problem for humankind in general is this:
Humans for the most part have not mastered what could be an amazing skill, relatively speaking. That skill? Gaining wisdom by witnessing the causes and costs of other humans’ suffering and pain by observing other humans and what they did which did not work in their best relative interests.
Moreover, some few humans might gain wisdom by observing other humans, but for the most part, if wisdom is ever gained it comes as a result of one’s understanding one’s own failed and botched and disastrous experiences and the costly consequences of those experiences which often happened because they followed the no-wisdom thoughts and words and actions and advice and teachings of other humans and seeing why those did not work in anyone’s best relative interests.
To that end, yesterday’s discussion of the long history of medical “experts” and psychiatric “experts” and religious “experts” and spiritual “experts” which were - and continue to be - totally botched is meaningless unless one has had a first-hand experience with those botching.
So what about you? Have you ever been told something by a medical or psychiatric or religious or spiritual “expert” that you later found to be totally off the mark?
I have had many such experiences, but one of the most frustrating happened years ago when I visited my GP to find help with a most uncomfortable condition. The only question he asked involved where and what I had eaten recently. His diagnosis (which turned out to be a botched, un-researched, off-the-top-of-his-head misdiagnosis) was that I had a severe case of food poisoning.
He recommended the use of Imodium and not engaging in any exerting activities for a while and also following a particularly bland food plan for two weeks.
Two weeks later when the symptoms persisted, I went to a specialist who said, “You didn’t have a case of food poisoning. We have a case of the stomach flu that has been circulating throughout the community.
She explained that viral gastroenteritis symptoms may appear within one to three days after I infection and can range from mild to severe.” She said that “symptoms of mild cases might last just a day or two, but occasionally more serious cases may persist for as long as ten days if not treated effectively. So here’s what you need to do.”
I followed her treatment plan and even gave it two weeks, but no relief came and my symptoms were actually becoming worse.
A friend recommended a doctor who had helped her with the same nagging problem that did not end by use of the recommended treatments for what had been diagnosed.
I booked an appointment with that doctor. I was told during that visit that “the earlier diagnoses were not correct and that I obviously has irritable bowel syndrome which was probably made worse by the side effects of using of so many unnecessary medications.”
Giving his diagnosis a bit more credibility was the fact that he used the “Rome Criteria.” [Wow. The Rome Criteria. Maybe I have finally found an expert!]
Those criteria include abdominal pain and discomfort lasting on average for at least a week to three months, associated with at least two of these factors: pain and discomfort related to defecation or altered stool consistency. [Alright! Now we’re getting somewhere. Finally someone using a science-based diagnostic tool!]
The result: No relief and a condition that was now becoming worse each day.
Ready to give up, I agreed to follow through with one more visit to a friend’s highly-touted GP. The friend said that she loved the GP because she did not have as severe a case of “the God Complex” that most doctors display and was, instead, willing to call for assistance from those who had more training and experience.
That happened. After sharing the frustration which the ineptitude of so many doctors had caused, she telephoned a specialist with an office down the hall who came shortly to her office to discuss my case.
Instantly, he said, “Enough of this. I suggest you let me book you into the clinic for an out-patient procedure to find out exactly what your colorectal condition really is." I asked about cancer and he explained that, "while colorectal cancer is the third most common form of cancer, that the majority of colorectal cancers start as polyps, which are small overgrowths of tissue in the lining of the colon and which can be easily removed."
He discussed the high rate of successful treatment of polyps if detected and treated early on and ask how long my symptoms had been going on. I said, “Probably six weeks.” I saw a slight wince and a rapid movement forward with the discussion and he said, “I’m glad you’re here now.”
He booked me for the next day and found that I had some pre-cancerous polyps, a few cancerous polyps, and some non-cancerous polyps, all of which he removed.
After a few days of discomfit, my symptoms disappeared. After two follow-up procedures conducted six months apart, I was clear,
I eventually found a naturopathic treatment plan which did not call for clinic visits, mild sedation, or signing off on paperwork that said internal hemorrhaging occurs in “x” number of cases and that was okay by me (geez).
I have had no problems with cancerous polyps in more than two decades, but if I had continued to listen to so-called “experts” who were giving me erroneous diagnoses and were not finding my real problem and were not treating the problem with the proper procedure, the relative existence would have ended decades before it would have happened otherwise.
And that brings us back to those who are telling very mentally-and-emotionally-sick people that their only problem is that they have “a spiritual malady” and that the only treatment which they need is to take the daily steps necessary for them to become and remain a spiritual giant.
Their problem-diagnosis is a botched and ignorance-based deception, and their solution (to develop a new super-good, noble, awesome, other-worldly, exceptional ego-state) is as misguided as the botched diagnoses which I underwent for months by visiting over-confident, know-it-all-but-really-knowing-nothing “experts” who proved to be totally inept advice-givers and “knowledge”-sharers who set the stage for an earlier-than-natural end to the composite unity called “Floyd.”
Billions around the globe have been told erroneously that they only have one main problem? What is it? “The spiritual malady.” Once they buy into that misdiagnosis, they stop visiting other venues and stop seeking the real cause of their problems and thus never find the truth.
What is more often than not the actual causes of the problems of many of those sickest persons on the planet?
It is what Maharaj found to be the real causes of humankind’s problems and which he offered to treat via the third, not-religious, not-spiritual, but psychological version of the Ultimate Medicine which he began using in his third phase, causes which include:
the mind;
personality disorders;
neuroses;
psychoses;
and
warped and ignorance-based programming and conditioning and acculturation and domestication and brainwashing and indoctrination.
Can becoming a spiritual giant address any of those mental / emotional condition? No. To the contrary, what has been observed here during the last thirty-five years is that becoming a spiritual giant actually aggravates the effects of those causes.
Again, therefore, the invitation is to see that a simple message has been complicated and bastardized by persons who have attached “awesome,” “noble,” “other-worldly,” “extraordinary,” “exceptional,” “distinctive,” and “exclusive” status to key parts of the message and who have attached all sorts of extraneous and fictional concepts as well.
To be continued.
