QUOTATIONS AND POINTERS dealing with NON-DUALITY, ADVAITA, NISARGA YOGA and more
INTRODUCTION
Sometimes, a realized teacher needs only to hear a few comments from a person to know exactly where on "the path" that person is.
Most
times, only a few statements are required to reveal that a person is not on
"the path" at all. In some rare cases, a few comments will reveal
that the one speaking has transitioned all sense of personhood and has
completed the "journey" to full realization in its entirety.
If one is traveling along "the path" - or is fixated at some point on
"the path," which is presented nowadays as a four-step
"path" which can shift one from identification with the false
"I" to abiding as the Absolute - then the teacher will know which
pointers to offer that might guide the seeker to the next step.
For those who will only have the opportunity to read these writings, there will
be a set of pointers offered by category in a later section. The rationale for
that?
When offering non-duality quotations, some collections provide key pointers
that are offered in no particular order, but here the approach in one later
section of the book will be to group pointers according to subject matter so
that a seeker dealing with "body identification issues" can find
quotations dealing with body identity which can lead the ready and earnest
seeker to move beyond that identification;
thus,
if a seeker has not transitioned beyond body identification, then that seeker
will be able to visit the section that offers quotations and pointers under the
heading "REGARDING 'THE BODY'."
However, in PART TWO, "Quotations That Other Seekers Found
Significant," a variety of pointers will be shared that some readers of
other books by this author took note of and marked for further consideration.
Those quotations and pointers can be shared with you as a result of the
technological advances developed by Amazon.com. When readers highlight lines in
a book that they are reading, that information can then be shared with others
who might also be interested in those same passages.
QUOTATIONS THAT OTHER SEEKERS FOUND SIGNIFICANT
Over the years, readers of some of my books marked many quotes (labeled "Popular Highlights") which were read online.
Here
are some of the quotes from my books which were highlighted by readers, along
with some related pointers which were credited to Maharaj (S.N.M.):
"I do not have consciousness. I Am the consciousness—the consciousness
currently manifested in what you perceive as a body."
"Persons experience; consciousness experiences nothing. Impure
consciousness believes experiences to be real; pure consciousness simply
witnesses."
"All personas are false. Nothing false can help differentiate the true
from the false.”
All needs and desires are figments of the corrupted mind. Joy begins where
desire ends."
"The irony is that anyone seeing 'a horrible world' is simply projecting
himself / herself onto what he or she calls ‘the world'."
“To realize is to know that the world was only in you, in your mind, and that
you've never been in the world. It's to know that you can't be 'in the world,'
for the world is an imagining in the mind of persons. As many worlds exist as
there are persons to imagine the way things are."
"When I speak of transcending, I refer to the fact that you must transcend
all body identity, all mind identity, and now ... all religious or spiritual
personalities as well."
“Ego is believing that there’s a vast multiplicity arranged in a hierarchy and
that you’re the pinnacle; humility is knowing that you’re nothing, no-thing;
Love is knowing that You, with a capital ‘Y,’ Are Everything.”
"It's useless to try to use your mind and its knowledge to seek outside
yourself for the truth of your self, which is within. It is that very mind—the
conditioned mind—that has prevented the knowing.”
"You must see each and every ‘thing’ that you are not. For now, seek not
the truth. Only seek to realize all that is false. That is your beginning. When
you eventually come to know The Great Reality, You will realize that all which
is perceived via the five senses is false and is nothing more than learned
ignorance. It is learned ignorance that spoiled your pure consciousness and
resulted in a ‘mind'."
"Those alone who understand that I, the Absolute, am beyond the states of
being and non-being realize my true nature, and all others are fools."
(Krishna)
"Of the post-manifestation state, there is no 'knower' or 'experiencer' or
'one'."
". . . Not even of "I am." In that state one does not know that
one is."
"You might take consciousness to be the essence of beingness, the re-purified
consciousness to be the essence of non-beingness, and Awareness to be the
essence of the Reality beyond both beingness and non-beingness."
"In the Absolute, no consciousness of the 'I-Amness' or the 'Beingness' or
the 'Is-ness' happens."
"That which is perceived is not that which is real, and even that which is
perceiving is not the real."
"Only after realization can the movement to the next level happen, which
is abidance not merely as the (re-purified) Consciousness but as the Absolute."
"What persons take to be an experience is actually just the consciousness
experiencing itself."
"Awareness removes all identification with anything other than the void or
nothingness."
"'Spirituality' is merely understanding that (1) a spontaneous play is
happening, (2) recognizing the play is a fraud, and then (3) finding the basis
of the play."
"You understand that you are as you always were, are, and shall be: just
being and just aware." (Later, post-manifestatation, even the awareness
will not be aware-of.)
"Whatever persons take to be 'something' or 'something really important'
is actually just much ado about nothing."
“Life is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.”
(William Shakespeare)
"Maharaj
said, “Just live your life as it comes, but alertly, watchfully, allowing
everything to happen as it happens, doing the natural things the natural way .
. . .”
"I got involved in spirituality, in the business of spirituality, [but]
finally I lost that love of the Self." (S.N.M.)
". . . The 'end-game' will allow for the freedom to merely witness persons
as they try to control and as they generate chaos or as they react to chaos and
try to eliminate it."
"The option should be clear: the "personal you, persona-game"
will trap you for the entirety of the manifestation in the fluctuations between
gladness and sadness."
"Many claim to be totally realized, which would require that they
presently abide in a no-concept, no-identity, non-dual manner."
["J.C. and Christ and Jesus" refer to Yeshu’a. He received and shared parts of the non-dual understanding after he abandoned organized religion.]
"Most Christian preachers and priests steer clear of those pointers since
they do not understand Advaita and do not understand at all what he [Christ]
was talking about."
"Cleave a piece of wood and I am there; lift up the stone and you will
find Me there." (J.C.)
"Thus, it is not the heart or soul that hears, and it is not a human that
hears. It is that inner resource that can hear. When it hears a point that is
accurately pointing to Truth, then there is an inward resonance that is
'hearing'."
"It is the consciousness or awareness that hears via the inner
resource."
"In fact, focusing on 'now' is just another mental exercise that
reinforces the 'mind' and is as much a myth as 'the past' and 'the future'.”
At the moment one says, Right now, it is " . . . already 'not now'."
"You are manifested consciousness, and consciousness cannot 'have' anything,
including power."
"To realize is also to understand that only an ego-state would seek
'meaning' and 'ambition'."
"The quintessence of the talk is clear. Your most important asset is the
'knowledge' that ‘you’ - the unmanifested energy which would combine with plant
food elements – existed prior to emanation of mind. Hold on to this 'knowledge'
and meditate. Nothing is superior to this, not even devotion to a guru."
(S.N.M.)
“Whatever you have tried to understand during your spiritual search will prove
false.” (S.N.M.)
". . . All persons nowadays have been exposed to far more programming and
conditioning and acculturation and domestication than ever before, so their
blockages are more comparable to a 'seventy-car pileup' than to a 'one-car
accident' ...."
Maharaj said, “I am stabilized. There is no going into samadhi, or coming down
from samadhi. That is over.”
". . . Most cultures reinforce maintaining image over being
authentic."
Persons " . . . speak of attaining earthly power, and they will speak of
utilizing 'other-worldly power' or tapping into 'the power of the universe' . .
. ."
". . . Knowing that the non-realized can never attain enough power and
will willingly search in all 'places' and will willingly pay for whatever they
think will provide them with power."
". . . The source of all misery and suffering, so why would anyone want to
fulfill that which will guarantee misery? Maharaj advised that seekers should
seek to be free of their dreams, not seek to have them 'fulfilled'."
"You . . . try to find stability at
'the level of experience'; might you be ready to find stability at the level of
reality?"
"Accept that you cannot handpick right ideas and wrong ideas. Let them all
go. That belief-free state is freedom."
The Mind
"Who
fears something? Who is claiming something?"
". . . Trying to meet the expectations and demands of others’ beliefs is
blocking you from a peaceful existence."
"Once persons 'see' that they are not a body that was born, once they
'see' that they are not defined by their thoughts, once they 'see' that they
are not the spiritual or religious roles they have played, then the
de-accumulation of beliefs and concepts and ideas can lead to the peace of
Child Ignorance, and to being in touch with reality. From
there, the doing stops and the being begins."
“ 'Thinking' (which is generated from an illusory mind that is nothing more
than the storehouse of lies, myths and concepts) will disappear to the degree
that attachment to, and belief in, lies and myths and concepts disappear."
"There is an alternative to trying to force a variable mind to be still.
See the lies that are generating the troublesome thoughts. A person can never
control the 'mind'.”
“You don’t have a drinking problem; you have a thinking problem” is pointing in
the proper direction.
" . . . All roles are false and block the path to reality unless one
transitions beyond them."
“Peace comes when we give up all roles and identities, knowing that we are not
this body. Only then can you give up all attachments."
" . . . ‘Mind’ is merely the compilation of all the lies that humans are programmed
to accept as truth."
"When angry or hurt, WHO is feeling the anger or hurt? What persona is
causing you to be miserable or to suffer or to generate conflict?"
"He [Maharaj] spoke of memories as being time-bound and transient, so they
cannot be real. He made the point that only that which is free of memories is
timeless and therefore real."
". . . There are as many imaginary worlds as there are persons. 'The
world' for each is in them, in their 'minds'."
"Since the 'mind' is the sum total of memories, and because all memories
are distortions, then the 'mind' is the sum total of your distortions."
"You cannot go beyond the 'mind' when you are constantly looking at the
'mind' (that is, paying attention to 'thought')."
"Differences in appearance are caused by nothing more than a variance of
the vibrational rate at which 'that' moves when manifested.)"
"What is not real is the [steel] beam as it appears; what is real is that
swirling mass of energy that is not visible to the naked eye."
"The 'mind' is neither elemental nor energy, so it is not real and it will
fade away."
"The 'contemporary 'mind' . . . is nothing more than a repository of
lies."
". . . All learned ignorance - stored as a 'mind' - must be tossed if
peace is to happen."
"Find the ego-state that is thinking the thought. When You realize that
the so-called thinker of the thought is fictional, her / his fictional thought
is spontaneously discredited and discounted."
"The Absolute has no nervous system. It is an energy field. The Absolute
has no personal traits."
To be continued.

Yeshu'a (Jesus) and Pope John Paul II and Pope Francis were spot on:

and
"Heaven and earth shall fade away."

"There is no hell."
