WHY MAHARAJ ABANDONED RELIGIOUS AND SPIRITUAL VERSIONS OF THE ULTIMATE MEDICINE AND TURNED HIS FOCUS TO PSYCHOLOGICAL HEALING INSTEAD
Most who have come here and who have been taught the exact order of the steps can then re-read many of the pointers offered by others - Maharaj included - and find that they make sense when they did not before.
In that regard,
this was received from a site visitor that took the time to read and re-read
the content of certain books. (Some of what he wrote is paraphrased for the
sake of brevity).
I find I am, for the first time, due to
all of our discussions, understanding pointers read before.
[He listed some of what is being eliminating and some of what is finally being
understood]:
. . . beliefs, since it means something has been named and that brings
associated ideas and images with that something, such as “God.”
. . . the idea that "I" want some permanency, due to memory, but
there is none; we are always changing, interacting with the sun and air as
vital components
. . . memory, since it is ever changing along with everything else
. . . time, along with memory, is the
other big problem I had. I could never enjoy "now" because of
bringing up the past or having expectations of the future. "Now" is
always lost.
So, I come to the conclusion that the only way to understand something is to
view it (read, listen, learn) from multiple sources until you "see"
it.
And such is “his” experience. There is no suggestion that the direct path,
nisarga approach employed here is the single, “right” way. It is known,
however, that persons must either sit in the presence of a guide or must find
the readings which can lead a seeker step-by-step (each taken in the proper order)
to realization.
Over the years, some come to this house for retreats and receive non-dual
pointers “face-to-face.” Distance and
expenses prohibit others, so they can receive the understanding via the
writings offered here or via the accompanying materials offered on the book
site.
Again, some will be “wired” in a way that they will understand via the pointers
as presented in the books offered here while others seem to require (or
“want?”) something quite different. So it is. Yet understand that your “quest”
need not span decades as “floyd’s” did.
Time after time, guide after guide, the pointers came that there is a specific
route that must be followed, but not one guide I dealt with and not one writer
of the hundreds of books that were read ever outlined specifically the steps on
the “path.”
The reason FROM THE I TO THE ABSOLUTE and
other works are offered is to provide the “road map” to seekers in order that
they might realize now and then go about the relative business of enjoying the
freedom which comes with having completed all of the steps in order.
As alluded to earlier, Maharaj said, “…You should go back, reverse, to the
source.” He also said, “Follow the same path by which you came.”
There is an
exact order by which awareness manifested as consciousness and was subjected to
a process whereby obstacles were set in place that block the consciousness from
being able to differentiate between true and false.
It was by that process that specks of energy from the universal pool of energy
manifested and came to identify with the false self or selves (that is, with
the “ego”), with the body, with “the mind,” and with the personality (and,
eventually, with multiple personalities).
To go back, to take the same path in reverse, is the only means by which a
shift from body identification to abiding as the original nature can happen.
Many can discuss the various phases of the “coming in” and the “going back.”
Few actually offer the exact order in which the steps must be followed to
reverse to the source.
Find that order if you would realize fully. For those that have not yet been
able to reach the end of the path, it may well deal with the fact they have not
taken the proper steps in the proper order on their “journey.”
Why else is impeccability with word usage recommended? Any concepts which a “non-realized person” utters are generated by the fiction-filled “mind,” and utterances frame all of the misunderstandings which the non-realized believe about the relative and also lead to all of the unnatural or nonsensical behaviors which can be witnessed as they happen across the globe.
When as a child I was being forced to attend a right-wing evangelical church several days and nights a week, one song which was taught to all children was “O be careful”.
It was a paranoia-inducing bit of verse which outlined all of the ways by which we could be corrupted and – as a result – cast into the flames of hell for eternity.
Here are the lyrics:

(First off, I’m being watched every second by someone who can be easily displeased and send me to hell? Damnation! Next, I have to be sure I don’t look at what I should not look at but what if I see what I should not see before I know that I’m about to see something in the “Don’t-look-at-that!” category?)

(“So do you guys have a list of what I am not supposed to say so I’ll know everything that I must not say which could send me into an eternity of punishment involving pain and suffering and misery if I do say it?” But wouldn’t I be punished if I read the list, at least according to the “O be careful little eyes” rule?)

(Ok. So I’ve reached my teen years after trying for a decade to dodge all of the “be careful bullets.” My girlfriend and I have some privacy and she suddenly takes off her blouse and bra and my eyes dang near pop out of my head. I’ve worked diligently on all the eyes, ears, tongue, feet, heart and mind rules. The conclusion? “The hands rule is gonna have to be put on pause for a short while tonight.” Is the Father above going to look down from above and watch what I’m about to do? Surely not. Surely He follows His own rules and will look away. Yeah! That’s the ticket! He’ll probably never even know! Ok, God, turn away! Incoming porn on the way! Be careful what your little eyes see, God! And in case He did peek, then later tonight I can ask for forgiveness and I’m back to “clean slate status” anyway. Full speed ahead, O hands! Enjoy!)

(Then, as I aged, I saw that those last three warnings about where I go and whom I trust and what I think really were warnings about - more than anything else - the SOB’s who taught me all of their nonsense to begin with.
I would make sure that my feet never again took me into a place where ignorance-and-insanity-driven religious fanatics gather;
I would make sure that I never again trusted the words of ignorance-and-insanity-driven religious fanatics;
and
I would make sure that the thinking generated from within my delusional mind was going to be purged of the nonsense which a bunch of ignorance-and-insanity-driven fanatics had placed therein.)
Indeed, O be careful with those who would implant more stupidity in your mind rather than invite you to take the necessary steps to be rid of it all.
