TODAY'S CONSIDERATIONS

ANNOUNCEMENTS

[Walter Driscoll asked to interview me in order to preserve on video some of the latest modifications and evolutions in the versions of the message offered here since 1989. He would label the discussion, "Unlearning with Floyd Henderson."

Please note: For those who have a problem hearing what is being shared, the video offers a fairly accurate set of closed captions which some listeners might want to activate.

The interview is available for viewing by clicking on video "NUMBER THIRTEEN" in the column to the right.]

1. [See the offer in gold text following this post for details on how you can watch a retreat on video which includes a detailed discussion of all seven of the steps on the path as used by Maharaj]

2. Here, with those who are still driven to talk about "god," the "Son of god," the "Holy Spirit," "Buddha," "Krishna," etc., etc., etc., the invitation to them is to view those as verbs, not nouns. See the green text after today's post for the full meaning and implications of that.

3. A new video ("Number Ten: Awakening Together Satsang, March 2018") has now been added in the far right column of this page, offering the opportunity to view a recent 2018 satsang session with Floyd being interviewed by Regina and Jacqueline of "The Awakening Together Group." (See the details in the blue text after this post.)

WHY MAHARAJ ABANDONED RELIGIOUS AND SPIRITUAL VERSIONS OF THE ULTIMATE MEDICINE AND TURNED HIS FOCUS TO PSYCHOLOGICAL HEALING INSTEAD

THE VOCABULARY OF REALIZATION

A VISITOR TO THIS SITE: “What does it matter if I use the term 'God' as long as I know it refers to Brahma or even Brahman?”

ANOTHER: “You mentioned in an e-mail to my friend a vocabulary of realization and a non-dual-style of vocabulary based in sanity and clear perspective. Explain, please.”

Maharaj shared pointers in regards to the use of certain words and language, touting exactness in word choice even as he endorsed silence over talk.

[As the silence becomes the typical marker among the realized, there are fewer and fewer words used at all, but the ones used never support any “notions of two-ness” and always support the “not-two” understanding instead.]

For instance, when the realized use the word “I,” that word has nothing at all to do with the first person, singular, nominative case, personal pronoun.

Furthermore, no “fully realized non-dualist would make any claim about being either “fully realized” or being “a non-dualist.” That is all “early-on-the-‘path’” talk, and some latitude is required in order for any communication to take place between seeker and teacher during the early stages. [Later, it is even realized that there are neither seekers nor teachers.]

Exceptions can especially be the case when dealing with those in the West who have very little exposure to even the most basic terminology required for the transmission of the teachings, including words and phrases such as “false self,” “the Absolute as opposed to the relative,” “de-accumulation,” etc., all of which are alien to those programmed in cultures of accumulation. To even speak to them of "a false self" or of "de-accumulation" is typically greeted with all the enthusiasm surrounding a case of influenza.

Yet even among Easterners, many misunderstand the most basic teachings. Maharaj said to one seeker, “We are not speaking the same language. Yours is a make-believe talk . . . .” He informed one seeker, “You speak as a person, limited in time and space, reduced to the contents of a body and a mind.”

Because thoughts (the content of the mind) control words and because words—in turn—control deeds, then the words used during the relative existence exert tremendous influence over behavior among non-realized persons.

For example, some regular visitors to this site are familiar with the case of certain racist men who resided in Jasper, Texas in the late 1990's. They were members of a white supremacist group, all of whom had the thought that they were better than non-whites. They often verbalized their belief, speaking words of hatred and arrogance.

Eventually, their deed followed: three of those men would kidnap a black man, Richard Byrd, Jr., and would take him to an isolated area nearby. There, they beat him, chained him to a pickup truck, and dragged him behind the vehicle for two miles. In the process of killing him in that manner, they tore off his head, his neck and his right arm.

THEIR THOUGHT: Whites are better than blacks.

THEIR WORDS: “We are better than black people. They are inferior to us.”

THE RESULT / THEIR DEED: The murder of a black man.

All deeds are directly preceded by words, and all words are preceded by thoughts. Is it no wonder that Maharaj cautioned against the careless use of language? Yet do not conclude that 50% of all actions result from thoughts and 50% from words.

Nonsensical talk could not happen were it not for the nonsense stored in “the mind” that is constantly cycled and recycled among the non-Realized as thought after thought after thought.

That is why one of the books available here is entitled THERE’S NO SUCH THING AS “PEACE OF MIND” (There is Only Peace If You’re Out of Your Mind).

The part of the title THERE’S NO SUCH THING AS “PEACE OF MIND” comes from Maharaj; the rest comes from here.

Additionally, there is no need to cut off the tongue and lips and discard them in order to put an end to the nonsense being verbalized millions of times per day across the planet. The requirement is to cut out the nonsensical thinking by discarding the contents of “the mind.”

When nonsense is eliminated at the source (called “the mind”) then it cannot manifest via the mouth.

If there is no constant running of the mind, then there can be no constant running of the mouth. Is it becoming clear why the realized spend so much time in the silence?

Is it clear that those who have to talk the most are the most removed from reality / Reality? Is it clear why the truth can be known but cannot be spoken? Is it clear, therefore, why most of what is spoken is to be ignored because it is false?

For nonsensical words and deeds to end, persons must be rid of belief in the concepts and ideas that generate the thinking which leads to nonsensical talking and nonsensical behaviors.

Yet in cultures where “freedom of speech” is endorsed over freedom of silence—such as in the U.S.—then talking flourishes, talk radio flourishes, talk shows on television flourish. And they all add to the already-widespread dissemination of nonsense across the globe.

In the “war on nonsense,” one suggestion to those taking the seven steps to realization is this: simultaneously become consciousness of the words that are spoken while sleepwalking and while trying to awake.

By that means, there can be launched a two-fold assault on babble and claptrap—attacking the base of nonsense (“the mind”) as well as the nonsense being spoken by persons who are out on patrol each day and spreading foolishness in a verbal fashion as they go.

One student of the teachings offered by Maharaj was named Ruiz. He chose to focus on only a few aspects of the teachings in particular (the case with so many currently on the circuit who also studied the pointers offered by Maharaj and then selected a few as their own and are now marketing a narrow, limited, and incomplete version of the teachings).

One of the teachings that Ruiz focuses on is the suggestion to practice impeccability in word choice. There is what might be termed “A Vocabulary of Realization,” which is in one sense an “exclusive” vocabulary rather than an all-inclusive vocabulary. It is a vocabulary this is limited to the use of non-dualistic words and terms.

The so-called “fully realized non-dualist,” for example, will not speak of something being “good” or being “bad”; nor will there be talk of one thing or person being “better than another”; nor will there be any speaking about “ownership,” about “gain or loss,” or about “possessions” as implied with terms such as “my wife” or “my husband.”

[Exceptions can happen when communicating with a seeker not yet fully realized and not yet familiar with The Vocabulary of Realization, but in the end, all will be made clear if the seeker travels the entire “path” with the teacher.]

In that regard, there is no difference in using the dualistic term “good” and in using the term raised in the first e-mail above that evolved from the word “good,” specifically, “god.” In Anglo-Saxon, the word for “good” was “gud” or “gad.”

At best, the word “God” with an uppercase “G” might point toward some “divine goodness”; however, if you adhere to the Advaita teachings, you will not speak of any dualities including “divine vs. earthly” or “good vs. bad.”

If you move beyond the Germanic root of the word god” and study the Indo-European root, you will find a Far Eastern (Sanskrit) origin dealing with “the invoked one.” To the writer of the first e-mail above, therefore, if you want to “invoke,” invoke away by speaking of “God.” If you want to speak in dualities, speak away of “God,” even as you claim your talk of "two-ness" is really "not-two" talk.

For the rest of the specks of consciousness that speak with "impeccability," the word “God” is not in the vocabulary of those currently manifested specks.

In other series an additional nonsensical practice is addressed, namely, the practice of invoking “God” throughout the day and the practice of advising people in crisis to “turn it over to God.”

The relationship of the above to the key question now being addressed is this: “Why did Maharaj abandon religious and spiritual versions of the Ultimate Medicine and turn his focus to psychological healing instead?”

He came to understand that seekers who would realize must turn away from all sources of ignorance. Moreover, he realized that they must also turn away from membership in all institutions and organizations and groups which inspire the belief among their membership that that they are “different from others” and that their differences make them “better than others.”

He also came to understand that seekers who would realize must avoid joining any institutions and organizations and groups which teach their members that they are “better than they would be otherwise if they were not members of those institutions or organizations or groups."

And he further came to understand that seekers must avoid joining any and all institutions and organizations and groups which generate and normalize division and separation.

Despite religious talk about “unity and love and oneness” aside, were that truly their hallmark then how could the current 4,300 religions now exist? And despite religious talk about “unity and love and oneness” aside, were that truly their hallmark then how could the current 45,000 denominations and sects now exist?

The facts show that their hallmark is about dividing and separating, about conflict, about discord, about disagreement, about partitioning; about splitting up, about disconnection, about detachment, about estrangement, about segregation, ad infinitum.

The realized see the folly behind such concepts. Yesterday’s discussion showed how much of the content of various bodies of dogma is nonsensical.

But Maharaj came to see that institutions and organizations and groups share the common agenda of inspiring division and a sense of “better-than-ment,” be they organized religions, cults, ideologies, the KKK, the Proud Boys, so-called “spiritual groups” with members who brag about being “spiritual and not religious!” or be they white nationalists, Nazis, neo-Nazis, neo-Confederates, skinheads, ad infinitum. Hence the recent posting on “Religious-based insanity” which applies to all of those other groups as well.

The attitudes and philosophies and beliefs of those who are members of institutions and organizations and groups with so-called “good reputations” differ very little from the attitudes and philosophies and beliefs of those who are members of institutions and organizations and groups with so-called “bad reputations.”

Maharaj came to understand that as well; thus, he advised his visitors to stay away not only from those pushing dogma and / or spirituality but also from those pushing so-called “non-dual teachings” and who are now known as non-duality’s “Big Name Teachers.”

Maharaj refused an offer from a man to build “the biggest and best ashram in the world” for Maharaj, but Maharaj refused the offer, choosing to stay in a loft above his flat where he could meet privately with 20 or so seekers at a time.

He made clear that non-dual pointers are not suited for big television audiences or for big crowds in large venues or for big audiences gathered in rooms with the seating capacity of an oversized “church sanctuary.”

In the end, Maharaj offered multiple, logical reasons regarding why persons should focus on the mental / mind aspects of the Ultimate Sickness rather than on a so-called body of dogma or on an imaginary “spiritual malady.”

To be continued.

Please enter into the silence of contemplation.

Here, with those who are still driven to talk about "god," the "Son of god," the "Holy Spirit," "Buddha," "Krishna," etc., etc., etc., the invitation to them is to view those as verbs, not nouns.

THE EXPLANATION

If looked at as nouns, they point to illusions and are, therefore, a total waste of time to even discuss; if looked at as verbs which are resulting in certain sane but rare behaviors among humanity, then they are worthy of some attention during the relative existence.

Meaning? There are members of certain groups who say things such as "My concept of god in the past was of a weak god, an absentee god, A Santa Claus-type god, a mean, punishing, vindictive god, etc. Today, I am in close contact with a loving and caring god whom I worship and praise and glorify and give thanks to."

The reply to that usually goes like this: "If you are in contact with a god that wants to be worshipped and praised and glorified, then you're dealing with someone like yourself - a narcissist - and hanging out with narcissists will never bring an end to your narcissism (that narcissism evidenced by the fact that you think you are "godly").

Next, in the phrase 'loving and caring god,' any supposed god that truly had her or his act together would tell you that the totally irrelevant part of that phrase is 'god' and that the only part that is relevant is the "loving and caring" part.

"That is, a non-narcissistic their god / their goddess would say, "I care not an iota about being worshipped and praised and glorified by you or anyone else. How arrogant and insecure and needy would I have to be to want that? Forget the man-made, dreamed up noun 'god' and focus on the 'god as a verb' understanding and then go forth and let loving and caring be verbs - not adjectives - and let them generate the act of love and the act of caring and let those actions manifest through you."

Yeshu'a (Jesus) and Pope John Paul II and Pope Francis were spot on:

"No one shall ever see 'the kingdom of heaven.' It is within"

--Yeshu'a (Jesus)

and

"Heaven and earth shall fade away."

--Yeshu'a (Jesus)

and

"Heaven and hell are not geographic places

but are states of mind, nothing more than

concepts dreamed up by men."

--Pope John Paul II

"There is no hell."

--Pope Francis, the current pope

in an interview with journalist Eugenio Scalfari,

a writer used by the Pope to issue off the record

teachings which become a part of the Papal Magisterium.

[That said, would that the popes who have shown the courage to reject a core concept of their dogma - namely, "hell" - would find the additional courage required to question the very existence of their institution in light of the centuries-long cover-up of their history of raping children and in light of the mental and emotional and psychological scarring of billions of their members past and present.

And that need for courage also applies as questions need to be asked about why so many other sky cults are still being supported and allowed to continue to exist as well. When certain types of programming and conditioning have been shown to blind the masses, they should end. Will they? Not likely. Why?

Because what the masses think and say and do is most influenced by the international crime families which hold sway over the masses as criminals conduct their planet-wide operations. What are the major international crime families and which are the most influential and have the largest memberships?

The Mafia / La Cosa Nostra; the Catholic Church (with it 1.2 billion followers) whose Vatican Bank worked for decades with the Mafia while laundering mob earnings (for a 15% all-profit charge by the Bank); Protestant and Evangelical Churches (with over 1.2 billion followers) like the one I was raised in where the youth director molested and sexually assaulted young girls; big business which has long created environments in which people have been abused; powerful political bodies like the U.S. Congress, etc., etc., etc.)

With all of those crime families, neither the followers nor the leadership ever voluntarily step down or shut down their criminal activities. Be they gangs, organized crime families, religions, big business, politicians, etc., they all want control and they all want power and they all want money, and nothing internal will interfere with the driving forces at play.

The masses must demand that all those in charge must step down and their groups and institutions must shut down, and there's the real problem because the continuation of their crimes are enabled not as much by the people running such crime organizations as they are enabled by the masses of people who - wanting some perceived "payoff" - remain involved with them and give them money and support them and aid and abet the continued existence of those criminal enterprises and thus facilitate the ability of church criminals and political criminals and other types of criminals to continue to commit their crimes.]

Five Free eBooks

Compliments of Andy Gugar, Jr.,
the following eBooks are available without charge for you or for friends:

I.
"GOOD vs. EVIL?" or "IGNORANCE, STUPIDITY, and INSANITY?"

The content of this eBook deals with one of the most common but erroneous beliefs that the non-Realized masses cling to and which they will fight about (and even kill over), namely, that there is a planet-wide duel going on between “the forces of good and evil” in the universe.

Either (1) the ancient view is spot on: that the "ills of the planet" are rooted in evil people, in people not being religious enough or spiritual enough, and are caused solely by bad morality; or, (2) the "ills of the planet" are rooted in ignorance, stupidity and insanity and "being good" or "being moral" does not put an end to ignorance, does not eliminate stupidity, and does not treat insanity in any way.

II.
"THE VISION"

Comments regarding the free eBook entitled “THE VISION”:

“My thanks to you and Andy.” – Andrew “Mac” McMaster

“Thanks so much for the book! And, by the way, it is brilliant and the most effective pointing that you have done. It has served to help clear the remaining blockages.” – Stan Cross

“Greatly appreciate having “THE VISION” added to my Henderson resource library that is situated on the right side of my bed for easy access! Eternally grateful for what was received and what was given.” – Robert Rigby

“‘THE VISION’ is such a well-written, condensed version of the Nisarga Yoga approach to understanding and enjoying Reality that I feel it can serve as a must-read ‘meditation guide’ for all earnest seekers.” – Andy Gugar, Jr.

III.
"Sapolsky, Maharaj, and the Non-Dual Teachings"

Dr. Robert Maurice Sapolsky is an American neuroendocrinologist; a professor of biology, neuroscience, and neurosurgery at Stanford University; a researcher; an author; and a Research Associate at the National Museums of Kenya.

There is much that a non-dualist or Advaitin or Nisargan can relate to by comparing and contrasting what Sapolsky reveals about the way certain troops of baboons live in Africa with the way that humans abide all around the globe.

This 152-page eBook catalogues the common, non-dual message shared by Sapolsky and Maharaj and reveals the ways that Sapolsky’s scientific research supports the non-dual pointers offered by Maharaj.

IV.
Seeking

In “PART ONE” it will be seen that most persons on the planet are not seeking, and most will never seek, but for those who are seeking, most will face several obstacles:

In “PART TWO” of this book, it will be seen why many criticized Maharaj for “changing his message in his later talks.” It will be seen that the changes were not about changing the message per se as much as about changing his methodology as he experimented with one version of the Ultimate Medicine after another in order to try to find an effective means for addressing the Ultimate Sickness.

He tried a religious version of the Medicine, a Spiritual version of the Medicine, and finally settled on a version which addressed to Sickness at its core . . . at the mental and emotional level.

V.
"THE MOST DANGEROUS BELIEF OF ALL"

“Dangerous” is a term that can only apply during the relative existence, but of those who do commit suicide, for example, how many shoot themselves in the foot over and over until they “bleed out”? None. They shoot themselves in the head. Why? In order to try to stop the noise - to try to stop the chatter of a thousand monkeys – to stop the noisy mind which is the area that stores the ideas, notions, concepts, mind-stuff, etc. which drives them into the depths of insanity.

And what are those ideas, notions, concepts, etc. called, collectively? "Their beliefs." The irony? They are not their beliefs at all. They are the beliefs of “others” that were set in place via programming, conditioning, etc. and which persons then think are their own.

And what are those beliefs rooted in, and what reinforces those beliefs and convinces persons that they are sacred and worth fighting over and even sometimes worth dying for? Blind faith.

This 337-page eBook discusses those issues in detail.
