WHY MAHARAJ ABANDONED RELIGIOUS AND SPIRITUAL VERSIONS OF THE ULTIMATE MEDICINE AND TURNED HIS FOCUS TO PSYCHOLOGICAL HEALING INSTEAD
Religion-Based Insanity
To review: So why did Maharaj abandon religious and spiritual versions of the Ultimate Medicine and turn his focus to psychological healing instead?
For two reasons in general:
1. He saw that versions of the Ultimate Medicine based in religion or in spiritual were not effective;
and,
2. he saw that no other single source in human history had contributed as much to the spread of ignorance and insanity as organized religion.
Consider just a few of the millions of examples occurring during the last 5000 years or so of the insanity being spread by three religions which encourage the worshiping of the one, same god (the god of Abraham) but whose three memberships have a history of all believing that their version of the god of Abraham prefers their group over the other two groups and tolerated and have even endorsed the killing of the members of the other two religions.
On 9/11/2001, a group of Islamic fundamentalists commandeered two commercial airliners and flew them into the World Trade Center Towers in New York City, explaining that Allah had told them to attack the Jewish and Christian infidels influencing the world economy from those buildings.
SO THE GOD OF ISLAM WAS FOR ATTACKING
THE TOWERS?
The
right-wing, fundamentalist Judaeo-Christian minister Jerry Falwell disagreed,
explaining that the towers were knocked down as God's punishment for the
proliferation of non-Christians, gays, and feminists in the U.S. along with
other causes he added in subsequent days.
SO THE GOD OF
JUDAISM AND CHRISTIANITY WAS FOR ATTACKING THE TOWERS?
A
Fundamentalist Muslim minister, on the anniversary of the 9/11 attack, said that
God approved the attack since "if Allah had not wanted the Towers knocked
down, they could not have been knocked down."
SO THE GOD OF
ISLAM OK'D THE ATTACK ON THE TOWERS THAT KILLED 2996 PEOPLE?
During
that talk between Bush and God, God evidently gave the president the go-ahead
to drop bombs on a city and kill thousands of Muslim women, children, and men
in Iraq. In announcing the beginning of the attack on Iraq to the people of the
U.S., Bush invoked God's blessing on U.S. soldiers and their war effort.
SO THE JUDAEO-CHRISTIAN
GOD OK'D KILLING IRAQIS?
There was a time when sanity ruled on earth in spite of limitless quantities of learned ignorance. Sane living is living which preserves life. Animals, and later humans, did what was required to survive. It was "Job #1"; yet preserving life ranked supreme in communities all around the globe.
Sure,
animals and humans fought but not always to the death, and neither were most dedicated
to self-destruction. Killing, when it happened, was about survival, and “self-destructive
behavior” would not enter the jargon until religion appeared and a Medicine Man
/ priest convinced his followers that suicide, sacrifice, and murder were
precious acts as far as the gods are concerned. (Details will follow.)
How did some people shift from that sane mindset to believing in a Supreme
Being that sanctions self-destruction along with mass killings? How did some
end up with a thought-life that could explain that a Supreme Being directed
such an attack because of the sex habits or religious preference of the people
being attacked?
How did we get from living spiritually (in a sane and simple fashion) to living religiously (hearing a god instructing his people to attack, maim, kill, bomb and destroy)? How did we get to the point that humans believe it is better to die than to live?
AMONG RELIGIOUS PERSONS, THE INSANITY OF ASSIGNING SUPERNATURAL CAUSE TO NATURAL EVENTS
A past Republican Representative in the U.S. Congress Michelle Bachmann said, "I don't know how much God has to do to get the attention of the politicians. We've had an earthquake; we've had a hurricane. God said, 'Are you going to start listening to me now?' And listen to the American people because the American people are roaring right now. They know government is on a morbid obesity diet and we've got to rein in the spending."
Pat Robertson, an evangelical Republican and television preacher, reported to be worth $1 billion dollars, said of the earthquake which Bachmann referenced and which struck the Washington region, “It means that we’re closer to the coming of the Lord.”
He continued: “It seems to me the Washington Monument is a symbol of America’s power. It has been the symbol of our great nation. We look at the symbol and we say ‘this is one nation under God.’ Now, there’s a crack in it. Is that a sign from the Lord? It seems to me symbolic.”
As with so many religious and spiritual fanatics, Robertson has a history of blaming natural disasters and terrorist acts on the victims. After the 2010 Haiti earthquake that killed more than 200,000 people, Robertson commented that Haitians has "made a pact with the devil" and were being "cursed" through the earthquake.
He suggested that Hurricane Katrina was the result of legal abortion and later added, the tolerance of homosexuality in the U.S.
In the wake of the 9/11 attack, Robertson had an exchange with the late televangelist Jerry Falwell in which the two religious leaders suggested that the United States “deserved” the attacks for “its tolerance of secularism, gays, abortion, feminists and pagans.”
Robertson’s religious worldview sees God as a Supreme Being who can withdraw his protection of nations based on the countries’ morality or lack thereof.
Note how common it has been throughout history for religious leaders to blame the causes of natural events on a supernatural Power. To convince followers to believe that lie is to give the liar unimaginable levels of control over the masses.
If one would be free of learned ignorance and insane beliefs, one must recognize the origin(s) and depth and breadth of such ignorant and false beliefs.
