HAVE YOU FOUND YOUR WAYNE?
Many move through their relative existence without ever even considering an opposing view, much less seeking such views with openness and enthusiasm.
Those with a willingness to consider that an opposing view that is currently being held might be closer to the truth than other long-held beliefs.
Some have crossed paths with those that point to truth and hold an opposing view, but they usually do not welcome them. Others reach a point of such suffering and misery that they become somewhat open to considering views other than their own.
Some reach such a state of unhappiness that their search leads them to become totally open to some other view, to some other path, to some other perspective, to something that might bring about . . . change.
If a seeker comes to understand that she or he has been assigned or has adopted scores of false identities and that personality identifications can determine the words which a human speaks and the actions which a human takes, then that seeker might finally be willing to inventory his or her thoughts which are subconsciously controlling all words and deeds.
To bring about a healthy change, therefore, one must understand that this is the sequence which controls what the masses say and what the masses do:
THOUGHTS ---> WORDS
WORDS ---> ACTIONS
So, if one is seeking change, it must begin with changing thoughts. How? By purging the contents of the mind.
The mind is a fiction-filled trash receptacle. Filled by whom? By every persons’ programmers, conditioners, acculturators, domesticators, brainwashers, and indoctrinators.
The legacy passed down to those who are now among the non-realized masses is the legacy of the Ultimate Sickness. And what did Maharaj say are the key symptoms of that Sickness?
“Ignorance. Stupidity. Insanity.”
He did not say, “Human are ignorant, stupid and insane.”
He said the non-realized masses are driven first by thoughts and that their thoughts are marred by learned ignorance, learned stupidity, and imposed insanity. From whom?
First, their forebears, their ancestors who are driven by thoughts which they were taught and which were marred by learned ignorance, learned stupidity, and imposed insanity.
So, have you crossed paths with one that was suffering from those symptoms but has been cured because they actually crossed paths with a specialist that treats the Ultimate Sickness by offering methods for un-learning, methods for being un-taught, and methods for considering openly and honestly the possibility that everything they have ever been told, taught, heard or read amounts to nothing more or less than to one big steamin’ and stinkin’ pile of nonsense?
The first one I ever knew that was capable of offering methods for un-learning, methods for being un-taught, and methods for considering openly and honestly the possibility that everything they have ever been told, taught, heard or read was one big steamin’ and stinkin’ pile of nonsense was . . . my Cherokee Medicine Woman Grandmother.
The problem? Yes, there were non-dual pointers which she offered to me during my pre-teen years which I still recall to this day, but at the point when she offered them, I was not ready.
To borrow a line from the play Hamlet, written by the non-dual poet William Shakespeare, “The readiness is all.”
So after years of being ready, the long and arduous path I followed did not lead to my crossing paths with anyone that had the wisdom to inspire me to submit to being un-taught and being totally willing to un-learn.
It was when I was near the point of giving up - in more ways than one - that I crossed paths with Wayne.
Wayne worked in the construction industry in Houston, TX. He sold concrete. He did have more formal education than many, but that might have been a liability if he had. He, too, had required being un-taught; he, too, had required the need to un-learn.
Once he did that, his intelligence and know-it-all switch had to be turned off. When that happened, a vacuum manifested.
Nature is not wired to prefer vacuums, so what rushed in to fill the void? Wisdom. By the time we met, I was ready and he was ready, and willing, to assist.
He first recognized, in spite of all of my university-level degrees, that I was totally asleep and that I loved to talk in my sleep.
He also recognized that pussy-footing around with me was not going to work. My belief systems had become too firmly entrenched, as is the common case among the non-realized.
So without much ado, we sat together one Saturday afternoon and he asked what the most troubling incident was that I was currently dealing with.
F.: “Oh hell, that’s easy. My asshole brother-in-law and my wife - his sister - who takes his side in every issue I have with him. He couldn’t keep a job and so my wife at the time asked if I could help by hiring him for one of my companies. So I did.”
W.: “Why couldn’t he keep a job?”
F.: “Because he was a total ass. He was a total crook. And when his employers got to know him after a week or so, they fired him.”
W.: “So what does the current issue with him involve?”
F.: “It involves $25,000.”
W.: “Go ahead.”
F.: “One of the companies that I owned installed irrigation systems. He had run PVC pipe before, so I put him in that division and as openings came up, he worked himself up the ladder. One summer, he knew enough to handle things for a spell while his sister and I decided that it was time to take the European vacation we had been wanting to take for years.”
W.: “Go on.”
F.: “We put together an itinerary of the places that were at the top of my list and the places that were at the top of her list and we determined it would take about six weeks to visit all of the places if we rented a car and drove through The Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, France, and Italy on our own.”
W.: Go ahead, but get to the point.”
F.: [Get to the point? I thought. Where do you think I’m going, you rude prick.]
F.: “So, we made our plans, arranged for airfare and the rental car, and headed out to our starting point at Schiphol Airport in The Netherlands.”
W.: [Looking at his watch] “We’re about to run out time. The bottom line?”
F.: [Yep, a really rude prick.]
F.: “I left signed checks with my lead secretary / office manager, checks made out to my supplier for the six weeks we’d be gone.”
W.: “Huh.”
F.: [Huh yourself, you ass.]
W.: “The issue?”
F.: “The issue is that by the time we got home, he had taken the flyer I used to generate contracts, ordered a couple of thousands and had them hug on doors, gave estimates, had gotten jobs, had bought the materials he needed with the checks I left; on my return, had stolen my crew and had him own business going with them. He had signed $25,000 in checks for materials and stole my entire business.”
W.: [Quiet for a time, staring at me. Then . . .] “So why do you think that your issue is with him?”
F.: [ Silent. Confused. Finally . . .] “What the hell are you talking about?”
W.: “I’m talking about you, the real source of your problem.”
F.: “What!!!”
W.: “Well, I just heard a lot that was very revealing, but you were the one talking without hearing anything you said.”
F.: What the hell are you talking about?”
W.: “Well, let me see if I got this right. You said you knew that this guy was an asshole; you knew that he couldn’t keep a job; you knew he was a crook; you knew that once employers got to know him, they fired him. Am I recalling all of that accurately?”
F.: [I stared at him, ready to kill. How dare he turn this around on me.]
W.: “Then you left $25,000 dollars worth of signed checks with instructions to your office manager to give him those checks weekly so he could pay the supplier for that week's irrigation parts.”
F.: [Still staring. Stunned into silence.]
W.: “You remind me of a guy who has a chicken coop with a door that opens automatically each morning and you left bedding by the door for a neighborhood fox to sleep on and now you’re mad that when the door opened the next morning, the fox did exactly what foxes do. It killed all of your chickens, and you’re the one that set him up to wipe out your entire brood. This is not your brother-in-law’s issue; this is your issue. Okay, I have an appointment so I’ll see you later.”
With that he left. I spent the rest of Saturday and most of Sunday in turmoil and anger. Now, my anger at my brother-in-law was redirected at Wayne. You know, the guy who told me the truth and invited me to see it.
I would come to see that I had been entitled, had behaved ignorantly and stupidly and insanely. I put that division in the hands of an ass and a crook and was then shocked when that ass and crook did exactly what asses and crooks do.
That would be the beginning of many sessions where Wayne would ask a question, allow me for a while to take too much of his time, and then would eventually stun me into silence with one realization after another.
Look back over recent posts on this site, if you choose, and see how I still use Wayne’s and Maharaj’s technique which led to my awakening:
“Have you ever questioned why it is that you believe that a priest / magician can perform the rite of transubstantiation and can actually turn bread into a part of a real human body (which happens to belong to “Christ”) and can actually turn wine into real human blood (which happens to belong to ‘Christ’)?”
“Have you ever questioned why it is that you believe it is normal for people to eat human body parts (cannibalism) and to drink human blood (vampirism)?”
“Have you ever considered that if you were all-knowing and all-powerful and present everywhere that you would be decent enough to end child molestation, world hunger, wars, rape, pestilence, etc., etc., etc.?”
“So why is the god you worship who supposedly has those abilities refused (for eternity) - or has been negligent forever - and not used his power to end all of that BS”?
“Have you ever wondered how Holy Sperm in god’s vas deferens was collected from his scrotal sac in heaven and then transported to earth by an angel / messenger?”
“Have you never wondered how the angel transferred the Holy Sperm and allowed it to travel through a virgin’s vagina to her uterus and fallopian tubes and then rendezvous with an egg which had been released from the woman’s ovary during ovulation?”
“Or have you unquestioningly accepted all of the above as the truth because you were taught that by your parents and by your culture and by pedophiles in power in an institution that you visit regularly, that you love and depend on, and that you give money to?”
Do you understand now how to conduct a proper inventory of your beliefs - which are not actually your beliefs at all but are their beliefs?
How much have you carried about in your mind that has never been examined for its authenticity? How many thoughts / beliefs are there that have lead for years to the speaking of ignorant words and to conducting the most insane actions imaginable?
