MISTAKES OFTEN MADE BY SEEKERS
MISTAKING “GOOD” ROLES AND POPULAR ROLES FOR ACTUAL IDENTITIES, continued
Some speak of “going full circle.” The process is described thusly:
“If something or someone has come full circle after changing a lot, things are now the same as they were in the beginning.”
Some use the-child-and-the-old-human analogy to illustrate:
If a human manifestation continues for, say, eight decades or more, then the human in old age might have to wear diapers as happened when an infant;
the infant often has very little hair and an old human can end up nearly bald;
a child knows nothing, and an old human can end up knowing nothing, too; etc.
You get the picture.
What does that have to do with the non-dual “journey” and role-playing?
A child plays no roles and manifests without any beliefs about identity; an old human ends up the same way.
That shift away from identification and role-playing is what the “journey” is about.
Maharaj
explained it this way:
“From my angle, you are nothing. You have no identity.”
How to reach that understanding? Lost in the woods, so to speak? Then take the non-dual “journey.” Retrace your steps in reverse and you’ll no long be unable to understand what you are not.
Maharaj said:
“
. . . You should go back, reverse, to the source.”
“Follow the same path by which you came.”
Are ready to be free of having your every thought and word and action being driven by the hidden and subconscious agendas of false identities?
Then go back, reverse. See how you started out as a carefree child and ended up being a troubled, heavy-hearted, depressed, dissatisfied, and / or worried adult-age person.
Consider the visual message of this book cover:
This “path” and the “reverse path” are about seeing how the assignment of roles presented alongside nonsensical programming, conditioning, domestication, acculturation, brainwashing, and indoctrination resulted in distortion and disillusionment.
Look at your belief systems. When did those show up? Not as an infant. Those roles were assigned or assumed over decades. Look back at the path you’ve traveled and see who passed down which beliefs to you that you often accepted without question.
Steps 1, 2, and 3 on the “path” involve giving up belief in body identification, mind identification, and even in the so-called “good roles” that you were influenced (or required) to play.
To transcend the roles of “The Super Religious One,” “The
Spiritual Giant,” and “The Super Seeker” sets the stage to move back into “The
Child No-Knowing State” (which some call “The Child Ignorance Stage”). See? Go full circle.
When all belief in body identification and belief in the nonsense stored in the mind has been cast aside and when belief in all false identities and personal identities and “Noumenal Identities” are cast aside, then one will move spontaneously into the 4th step state, marked by what Maharaj called the “Zero Concepts / No Mind” state.
Understand that “realization” to Maharaj meant nothing more than being free of all beliefs, all concepts, all lies (which are all nonsense and learned ignorance) and go full circle, back to the state when you were an infant - a carefree child - and before you ended up being a troubled, heavy-hearted, depressed, dissatisfied, and / or worried adult-age.
How? Understand first what Maharaj meant when he said,
“I take my stand in the original state where I was not aware that I am.”
“Before this knowledge ‘I Am’ appeared on you, you were absolutely unattached. As soon as the knowledge dawned on you, you became attached to everything around you. Only that false ‘I’ is attached. Everything is just happening, and the false ‘I’ is taking the credit for doing things.”
“From the Absolute no-knowing state, spontaneously, this consciousness ‘I am’ has appeared - there is no reason, no cause.”
“There is no progress.”
“There is no question of elevating to a higher level. Here it is only a question of understanding.”
“Forget seeking the answer to ‘Who or what am I’ and find the answer to the most important question: ‘Who or what am I not?”
“My true state, which is whole, undifferentiated, is beyond birth and death. I am never bound by my body and mind. I am limitless.”
“Whatever spiritual things you aspire to know are all happening in this objective world, in the illusion. All this is happening in the objective world. All is dishonesty. There is no truth in this fraud.”
