DO YOU CLAIM TO BE “A CHRIST FOLLOWER?” YOU’RE NOT. IN FACT, YOU’RE NOT EVEN CLOSE
A new series begins today, offering a deeper understanding of the messaging of Yeshu’a / Yeshua / Y’shua / Yehoshua (otherwise referred to incorrectly as “Jesus”).
The contents of this series are not for those who are seeking reinforcement of their religious beliefs about the one called “Jesus.” Why?
Because the contents of this series will focus on the “later” message that he offered . . . a message rooted in the ancient teachings of the Far East rather than the Middle Eastern message that is generally focused upon by his followers.
How can I be so certain that the 2.2 billion persons on the planet who claim to be “Christ Followers” not only are not Christ Followers but also are not even close to following his example?
It has been said that a “tell” in poker is a change in a player's behavior or demeanor that is claimed by some to give clues to that player's assessment of their hand. A player gains an advantage if able to observe and understand the meaning of another player's tell, particularly if the tell is unconscious and reliable.
The most basic tells with Christians who claim to be Christ Followers is that they accept the false identification of “Christian,” that they are involved with organized religion, and that they claim to be following Christ (and his example) when he never wanted anyone to do so.
He never wanted to establish an organized religion; he tried to encourage listeners to give up all identifications; and he never sought followers.
He traveled about with five rich women who provided him with all the money he needed; with an entourage of men who assumed the false identification of “disciples” (which was contrary to his “assume no personal identities” message); and the last thing he wanted was to have trillions spent on buildings where people could worship (much less worship him).
But the clearest “tell” made by persons claiming to be “Christ Followers” is the fact they are still involved with organized religion when what he modeled for them was to abandon organized religion.
In his early years, he left the synagogue to seek. He began traveling about the Middle East, sharing the non-dual understanding, telling listeners that “a dual-minded person is unstable in all ways.”
Where did he hear about that? Trading connected the Far East and Middle East and those from the Far East shared their non-dual message with Mid Easterners.
How else, years before Yeshu’a manifested, did an author (not actually named Moses) have a “god in a burning bush” claim I AM THAT; I AM (which was written without the semicolon as I AM THAT I AM and thereby negated any chance for readers to understand the summative statement of non-duality regarding “the permanent THAT” and “the temporary AM-ness”).
There is some evidence that Yeshu’a visited the Far East by traveling with an uncle who ran trading caravans between the Far East and the Middle East.
As for “holy buildings,” Yeshu’a turned his back on them and later on would share the non-dual message on hillsides, by lakesides, and in private residences.
It is not unusual for guides to offer one message at a certain point during their talks and a different message at another point. So it was with Yeshu’a;
thus, the content of this series will focus on his later Far Eastern-based talks rather than the earlier Middle Eastern / Jewish teachings;
furthermore, it is usually the “final talks” among teachers that point most effectively to truth, the wisdom that comes over a period of years usually rendering them more insightful than when a child or during one’s youth, so those messages will be the focus during this series.
Early on, Yeshu’a shared what he was taught in the temple. In the scriptures, the last reference to his sharing the Jewish teachings was when he was twelve years old.
The scriptures record nothing about his life from the age of twelve until his return to Jerusalem at the age of thirty. What happened during those “Eighteen Lost Years”? The shift in his message gives some clue.
The last three years of his life, he offered a totally different set of pointers and he modeled a totally different lifestyle. As for the lifestyle at “the end,” he had left organized religion and no longer taught Jewish dogma in the temple.
The contents of this series will offer the message he shared especially during his last three years which was a message rooted in the precepts of a Far Eastern understanding, especially pointers dealing with non-duality or “Advaita,” meaning “not two.”
Next, the contents of this series are not for those who believe that the non-duality message is about “uniting all people.” Non-duality addresses the Oneness, the unicity;
therefore, to speak of an “A” being united with a “B” or to conclude that non-duality’s message of Oneness is about “bringing people together” is the antithesis of non-duality and is actually a statement of two-ness.
The invitation is also to understand that to invite one to look objectively at one’s political, societal, religious or spiritual beliefs - or any other beliefs - is not to attack anyone or any political persons, religious persons, or spiritual persons.
The realized can no more feel hostile toward persons absorbed in the activities of a political party or a society or a religion or a spiritual movement than they can feel hostile toward a mirage. Why?
The personas which are attached to any of those institutions have assumed a “new but false identity,” and personas and roles and “new identities” are no more real than a mirage.
(It is likely - since Yeshu’a was capable of taking a whip and beating certain people whom he felt were corrupting the purpose of the temple by adding money to the mix - that if anyone might be capable of being hostile toward those doing some of the things that they do in his name, it would be Yeshu’a himself.)
The labels “Advaitin,” “Hindu,” “Christian,” etc. are just that - just labels, just names or titles adopted by persons and / or assigned to persons, but none offer the truly authentic message offered when the pure, universal consciousness speaks.
Finally, this series is not one which aspires to become a part of academia’s treatment of the messaging of Yeshu’a. It is impossible to footnote that which is understood via “the inner resource” or “the inner guru.”
Moreover, the approach here in the end is not to teach anything but to “un-teach” all. Why is the invitation to “un-learn all” rather than to “learn more and more and more”?
It is so-called knowledge” (a.k.a., “learned ignorance”) which fixates seekers at the third step (the religious or the spiritual step) on the “journey” to full realization.
As Maharaj noted, that is the level of what he called “kindergarten spirituality” where persons become “stuck” and do not follow the “path” to the next step where they return to “The Child No-Knowing Stage” (or what Maharaj also called, “The Zero Concepts / Zero Beliefs Stage”).
In that case, he said, persons become convinced that they are being bathed in the full light of the “noonday sun” but are really only standing in the dull light of “the dawn.”
There is so much more to “the path” that seekers are invited to travel. From the time that his age-twelve activities were reported to the time eighteen years later when he is next heard from as he re-enters Jerusalem, Yeshu’a had found “the rest of the story.”
“The rest of the story” involves the non-duality understanding referred to in the summative statement of non-duality, namely, “I AM THAT; I AM.”
Yeshu’a shared those findings during the final days of the manifestation of that speck of consciousness erroneously called “Jesus.”
