ARE YOU AT THE WET CHARCOAL STAGE OR THE GUNPOWDER STAGE?
Maharaj began offering non-dual pointers informally when people visited him one-on-one in his shop. Later, he would offer his pointers in a somewhat more formal manner in his flat.
Later, others would organize larger venues to accommodate even larger crowds.
There was a parallel: People first began approaching me at my place of employment to “work with them.” Before work hours, I would meet, usually one-on-one or with two at the most if they seemed to be earnest.
Later, when more seekers appeared, I began to offer satsang and retreats in my home. Eventually, as the numbers increased, I sought out people who would donate the use of certain larger venues which they had.
With more and more experience, I became more adept (as Maharaj did) at “weeding out” those who were not earnest or not anywhere near ready. Those in the wettest charcoal stage were not invited or allowed to stay if they found a way in.
Then I began to understand a directive which Maharaj began using:
“Do not come here expecting to be given something or expecting to get something. To the contrary, all will be taken away.”
Since both time and resources were limited, his focus was on those either approaching or already in the gunpowder stage. The same became the case here.
Most seekers will never reach the gunpowder stage. Those who claimed to be ready soon found they were not. In all of the venues where humans seek - religious places, supposedly spiritual places, ideological places, cult places, wherever - they are promised to get something and they expect that something is going to be given to them.
Only non-dual venues with truly realized guides promise nothing and give nothing but instead remove all. The case here is that un-teaching happens and un-learning is the focus.
Humankind’s problems are rooted in the ignorant and insane programming and conditioning and domestication and acculturation and brainwashing and indoctrination which humans are subjected to from childhood on.
In light of that, who thinks that more is the answer rather than being rid of all of it?
When a keg of gunpowder explodes,
That is what happens seconds before realization (which, per Maharaj, is merely the ending of belief in all learned ignorance).
The Ultimate Medicine as a psychological / non-dual compound is received from a guide. That Medicine is a controlled-explosion remedy to “ignorance and stupidity and insanity” per Maharaj), intended to blow away the mind parts of brains while leaving the brain intact.
That returns the brain to its original nature when it was mind-free and belief-free.
[As visitors are aware, the brain evolved over a two-million-years period, tripling in size. As that evolution occurred, the brain developed mind capabilities, able to store and retrieve information.
Originally, that had an “asset-type” quality, assisting the species to extend its period of relative existence. After language development allowed persons to fill minds with nonsensical beliefs and ignorance and insanity, the mind parts took on a “liability-type” quality.
As more and more personality disorders developed, so too did new, duality-based, warlike behaviors, especially suicide (“war vs. the composite unity”) and murder (“war against the perceived other”).
Some are dissuaded from taking the medicine they need because of a misunderstanding of what they think will be the “side effects” of the first doses of the Ultimate Medicine, namely, abandonment of identification with the body and the mind and the personality/personalities.
“Can
pleasures still be enjoyed after taking the medicine”? some have asked. Of
course, but this has been noted in that regard:
Maharaj: That which is a source of pleasure can easily evolve into a source of
pain or misery, and that which is a source of the greatest pleasure can easily
evolve into a source of the greatest pain or greatest misery.
For example:
“I thought getting married to my spouse would be a source of life-long joy,
but it is turning out to be the source of my greatest misery ever.”
“Booze treated my symptoms for a long time, but then it turned on me.”
“I thought having sex with that person would be the greatest pleasure ever,
but now the fatal disease I contracted is anything but.”
“The day my child was born was the happiest day of my life; the day I got
word he was killed in a war was the most miserable day of my life, and every
day now is of equal misery.”
Pleasure / pain and pain / pleasure as well as pleasure / misery and misery / pleasure
are the trademarks of the Ultimate Sickness.
The point is, the Ultimate Sickness can end via full realization or it will end
when the consciousness is no longer manifested. Why not be free of the
fluctuations now? Next, to explain what Maharaj had to say about the mind and
to show there is no disparity (either in his messages or between Maharaj and
Floyd when discussing the “mind”) the following is offered:
THE “MIND”
It was noted earlier that Maharaj “was not contradicting his own message but was
customizing his message.” The three terms used before on this site to identity
the varying levels of readiness among seekers include (1) the “wet charcoal
stage” (referring to those who will likely never get hot enough for their “fever”
to burn away the Ultimate Sickness);
Those at (2) the “dry charcoal stage” (who might get the necessary flames going
that can eventually burn away the concepts which are trapping them in
delusion); and those at (3) the “gunpowder stage.” Whatever pointers are
offered will be “customized” by the teacher who can hear a few words from a
seeker and then know that seeker’s exact level and that seeker’s exact point on
the “path.”
Those seekers at the third level of readiness have studied energetically the
pointers offered by their guides; as a result, those seekers will need only
the spark from a few more key pointers which can then explode away all of the
concepts that have entrapped them and that will allow them to move to a state
of full realization.
But note these two comments that were offered by Maharaj to those seekers at
the “gunpowder stage” which put an end to the notion that the “mind” is real or
beneficial or should be clung to and used throughout the manifestation:
“There is no such thing as mind” and “I have no mind . . . .”
The “mind” / no “mind” discussion in not contradictory but results when the guide recognizes the readiness level of the seeker; then, the consciousness
speaks to the seeker at that level in order to eventually move the seeker to
the next level, to the next step on the multi-step journey to Reality.
There might be “seeming contradictions” which are really just ironies or
paradoxes such as those which evolve during discussion of the “not-two-ness” of
the AM / THAT and during the discussion of the relative reality (AM-ness) and the
Reality (THAT-ness) and overlaying the latter onto the former.
The Ultimate Medicine is the only effective treatment for the Ultimate Sickness,
and the Ultimate Medicine will bring to an end the sources of the dis-ease which
mark the relative Sickness. The medicine will find its way to body
identification and eliminate that which disables persons and prevents even the
slightest movement along the “path”;
it will find its way to the seat of the illness (the “mind”) and will dissolve
it; and in the dissolving of the “mind” the Medicine will also end the way that
the affliction of assumed personalities drives persons through the relative
existence in a blind, unconscious manner that denies them the ability to choose
anything in spite of their false beliefs which tell them that they are making conscious decisions.
Best regards to all who would be free of the effects of the Ultimate Sickness by
taking a full dose of the Ultimate Medicine.
Fear not the effects of getting rid of all which is nothing more than a bunch of corrupting additives.
Filling a mind with nonsensical and insane programming and conditioning and domestication and acculturation and brainwashing and indoctrination is just like filling a spark-ignited internal combustion gasoline engine with the diesel fuel that is used in compression-ignited engine systems.
When diesel fuel is pumped into a car with a gasoline fuel engine, the car will stall when the diesel reaches the intake system. The lines will be clogged and major damage to the engine will occur.
A total flush and cleansing is called for. Nothing will be added to the gasoline engine; instead, all of the blockages and contaminates will be removed.
The same happens when nonsense is pumped into a human brain. The human will stall. The non-mind parts of the brain will be clogged and major damage to the composite unity-body will occur.
A total cleansing will be required. All of the elements added into the system and all of the resulting blockages and contaminates will have to be removed.
See why Maharaj said this was simple? You do not need more of anything. You do not need to add anything. You simply need to be rid all of all that has been added which should never have been pumped into the brain in the first place.
Isn't it time for the Ultimate Medicine’s healing truths to explode into consciousness?
