ARE YOU AT THE WET CHARCOAL STAGE OR THE GUNPOWDER STAGE?
(Most haven’t a clue and must be told)
Throughout the nineteen years during which I have been posting on this blog, I have periodically posted two disclaimers:
“There is no one here that has any beliefs, so there will never be anyone here who desires that you believe what he believes”
and
“There will never be any implication here that the non-dual understanding can replace a need for professional treatment of mental illnesses.”
As for disclaimer #1, what did Maharaj have to say about beliefs?
You are always after the improvement of the world. Do you really believe that the world is waiting for you to be saved?
You believe you know the world and yourself, but it is only your ignorance that makes you say, “I know.” Begin with the admission that you do not know and start from there. There is nothing that can help the world more than your putting an end to ignorance.
Stop imagining, stop believing. See the contradictions, the incongruities, the falsehood and the sorrow of the human state, the need to go beyond.
We believe in so many things on hearsay. We believe in distant lands and people, in heavens and hells, in gods and goddesses, because we were told. Similarly, we were told about ourselves, our parents, name, position, duties and so on. We never cared to verify. The way to truth lies through the destruction of the false. To destroy the false, you must question your most inveterate beliefs.
. . . Desires and fears, envies and anger, blind beliefs and intellectual arrogance pollute and dull the psyche.
Go through the proofs you have of what you believe to know. You will find you know nothing for sure - you trust on hearsay.
Go forth, unburdened with ideas and beliefs.
Stop believing.
As for disclaimer #2 above:
It is noted here regularly that there are levels of the Ultimate Sickness. Cancer exists in four stages. Plagues are categorized into four levels. Some claim they have a “really bad case of the flu” while other say that they had a “mild case of the flu.”
Some institutes use non-duality and personality inventories to address some of the nine levels of personality defects / psyche deterioration:
Levels 1-3 identify high-functioning aspects of personality types.
Levels 4-6 identify average aspects of personality types and disorders.
Levels 7-9 identify deeply dysfunctional manifestations of personality types and personality disorders.
Hence, there
are levels of
the Ultimate Sickness and different levels of the three symptoms which Maharaj identified as key
symptoms of the Sickness: “(learned) ignorance, stupidity, and insanity.” Meaning?
Meaning that . . .
there are many levels of learned ignorance among the masses;
there are many levels of stupidity among the masses;
and
there are many levels of insanity among the masses.
Silvana Popa offered one example of how six degrees of irrationally can manifest and be illustrated:
1. It’s raining. I should take an umbrella.
2. It’s raining. Thank God I don’t have to water my corn crops again!
3. It’s raining. Thank you God for watering my crops!
4. No rain. My neighbour is watering his crops on Sunday. I should shoot him.
5. No rain in weeks and my crops are about to die. God tells me I should sacrifice my son, so I’ll sacrifice my son.
6. No rain. The infidels must have upset God. The ones I can’t convert I will take with me. Virgins, here I come!!!
In 1969, I was certified to teach Freshman-level Psychology and Sophomore-level Psychology. Also, from early on, my Cherokee grandmother shared wisdom which came from her indigenous culture and aligned with authentic non-dual pointers.
Thus, it was natural for me to adopt Maharaj's third version of the Ultimate Medicine.
VERSION ONE:
A study of Maharaj’s evolution showed that he tried to address the symptoms of the Ultimate Sickness with a non-dual / religious compounded version of the Ultimate Medicine. He came to see that was totally ineffective.
VERSION TWO:
Continuing his search for an effective treatment plan for the Ultimate Sickness (and being influenced by Westerners who came his way) he tried a non-dual / spiritual compounded version of the Ultimate Medicine. He came to see that was totally ineffective.
VERSION THREE:
Eventually, seeing that the Ultimate Sickness is a mind Sickness / mental Illness, he tried a non-dual / psychological-mind-focused compounded version of the Ultimate Medicine.
He
witnessed that a psychological, mind-focused treatment proved to be more
effective than using dogma and / or spirituality to try to treat a mental Sickness,
though most efforts by most guides proved to be futile because of the
resistance of “seekers'” egos and egotism and their attachment to false identities
and to being more comfortable after spending decades in the planet’s
duality-based cultures.
What have the thirty-five years of working with “seekers” shown here? They have shown that Maharaj was spot on. So, just as he did, I’ve offered psychological awarenesses along with the non-dual understanding of personality and personality disorders to address Level 1 to Level 6 of psychic unhealthiness.
Those with Levels 7-9 disorders which have rendered them dysfunctional are referred to mental health professionals.
Non-duality is not a cure-all plan and is often a cure-nothing plan, but some few have reached an understanding which has proved to be effective or somewhat effective.
It is not my readiness that is all; it is their readiness that is all.
I’ve had seekers come my way and take the inventory personality test used here and then completed a follow-up session which has awakened them to some degree of understanding and freedom from being driven by the hidden agenda of false personality identities which manifest as personality disorders.
Many come to understand that their every thought and word and every action has been controlled by the hidden agendas of their false personality identities.
But the cautions today come from pointers about beliefs as offered by Maharaj and from my own experiences of working with seekers for 35 years.
