The Mission Statement
of this site:
This is a forum focusing on realization which can manifest by way of understanding non-duality and by way of discarding all learned ignorance and beliefs; on attaining peace; on an understanding of unity and the oneness; on enlightenment; on Real Love; on independence and freedom; on your original nature; on how to abide naturally; on the Nothingness; and on the wisdom of Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj, especially the wisdom shared during the third and final phase of his “teaching.”
[“Teaching” is in quote marks because the ultimate focus of Maharaj was on - and the ultimate focus here is on - “un-teaching” in order to facilitate the “un-learning” which is required for every seeker who would realize, that is, who would become able to stop believing in any and all of the learned ignorance which is presently being passed down to every human.]
Here, there is nothing that is believed, so there is no one here who wants you to believe anything, either. Here, the invitation is to be free of all that you have been programmed, conditioned, acculturated, domesticated, indoctrinated and brainwashed to believe so that you can be free, period.
Finally, what is not offered here is anything of interest to those who have developed a preference for any non-nisargan yoga or who prefer Traditional Advaita Vedanta Teachings, Neo-Advaita Teachings, Neo-Vedanta Teaching, or Pseudo Advaita Teachings.
Here, instead, seekers will see the use of the Direct Path Method of Teaching along with the Nisarga (Natural) Yoga, all shared in simple, everyday English.
Now, to continue:
"WISDOM" and "LOVE"
"Wisdom is knowing I am nothing. Love is knowing I am everything, and between the two my life moves.
A distinction has been drawn between what the masses take "love" to be vs. “That Which Real Love Is.” What most think "the world of love" is like is as illusory and as unreal as the imaginary "this world" which they have dreamed up and as imaginary as the other “worlds” they have dreamed up (such as a "better world" where "good" people go forever, and another being a "bad world" where "bad" people go forever). A distinction should also be understand regarding the distortions which manifests when one believes in concepts such as “this world” and “other worlds.”
[In truth, there is no “this world.” Note why it is impossible to define what “this world” is:
It is impossible to define in one way a “world” which is viewed in over 7.8 billion different views or different ways. No two humans could ever perceive “the world” in the same way, so anything viewed in 7.8 billion different ways can never be defined in one way.]
Maharaj: "The world you can perceive is a very small world indeed. And it is entirely private. Take it to be a dream and be done with it"
and "
. . . You and your world are dream states."
Yet the delusions continue - and shall - driving persons to engage in what can only prove to be a futile search for the illusory version of "love" rather than come to know the Real version:
Maharaj: "You can spend an eternity looking elsewhere for truth and love, intelligence and goodwill, imploring God and man - all in vain."
To search for what the masses take to be "love" is to search for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. So what did Maharaj use to remove the blinders so that seekers might realize fully and know Real Love?
Maharaj: "The Nisarga yoga, the Natural yoga. It is the art of living in peace and harmony . . . and Love."
Understand the teachings offered by that yoga and then you will understand Maharaj's next pointer:
"Love is not a result, it is the very ground of being. Wherever you go, you will find Being, Consciousness and Love."
Then, he offered this pointer which is an adumbration of the key point in recent posts which addressed the way that persons delude themselves and others with their claims of "I really love him / her unconditionally" and "She / he truly loves me, and I know that for a fact . . . without the slightest doubt."
To the contrary, Maharaj advised:
"Do not pretend that you love others . . . . "
[Alert: Don't try this at home if you and someone else have a long history of telling each other how much you love each other. Just understand if you keep saying it what "Love" means.]
Maharaj continued:
"Unless You have realised them as one with yourself, you cannot Love them."
Next, to the visitor who asked: "Is love a feeling or an emotion?"
The distinction is this:
Real Love can most assuredly will be felt by the realized, but it is not a "feeling." Real Love just Is; on the other hand, "love" as perceived by the masses, and as spoken of by the masses, is most assuredly an emotion, and emotions and emotional intoxication are the province of the non-realized who think they know what love is but who never consider what Real Love is and what “love” (as defined by the masses) is not.
This was offered to one who attended a retreat:
"What persons call ‘love' might seem to be the most magnificent experience of all; but at some point, it will also be seen to be the most horrendous experience of all. With such duality, how can that possibly be taken for The Real?”
And that point is not just about "relationships" which come to an undesired end.
[Maharaj said that "relationship role-playing" often follows this pattern: stranger to acquaintance to friend to lover to fiancé / fiancée to spouse to one's greatest friend and lover to enemy to mortal enemy to divorcée and finally to enemy for life.]
No, that pointer from Maharaj can apply as well to, for example, a mother who felt something magnificent about her child who was later gunned down in the street by people who were supposed to be protecting that child when it was not with its mom.
The magnificent-joy-to-abject-misery shift can come in many forms.]
As for feeling or emotion, if Love manifests and is felt, take the ride and watch feelings rise and watch feelings fall; if 'love' happens as an emotion—that is, if it is being 'experienced' by a person in an ego-state—prepare for war."
Maharaj made clear that whatever or whoever gives a person pleasure will eventually give that person pain, and that whatever or whoever gives a person the most pleasure will eventually give that person the most pain.
