ANNOUNCEMENTS
[Walter Driscoll asked to interview me in order to preserve on video some of the latest modifications and evolutions in the versions of the message offered here since 1989. He would label the discussion, "Unlearning with Floyd Henderson."
Please note: For those who have a problem hearing what is being shared, the video offers a fairly accurate set of closed captions which some listeners might want to activate.
The interview is available for viewing by clicking on video "NUMBER THIRTEEN" in the column to the right.]
1. [See the offer in gold text following this post for details on how you can watch a retreat on video which includes a detailed discussion of all seven of the steps on the path as used by Maharaj]
2. Here, with those who are still driven to talk about "god," the "Son of god," the "Holy Spirit," "Buddha," "Krishna," etc., etc., etc., the invitation to them is to view those as verbs, not nouns. See the green text after today's post for the full meaning and implications of that.
3. A new video ("Number Ten: Awakening Together Satsang, March 2018") has now been added in the far right column of this page, offering the opportunity to view a recent 2018 satsang session with Floyd being interviewed by Regina and Jacqueline of "The Awakening Together Group." (See the details in the blue text after this post.)
4. Some prefer paperback books even if they have to wait a day or so to receive it and have to pay more for a printed book and its shipment. Now, 10 paperback books by Henderson are in print and available in two anthologies through Barnes and Noble, Amazon, and over 40,000+ booksellers around the globe including in the Americas, Germany, India, Italy, Poland, Russia, China, Spain, Brazil and South Korea. See the end of this post in red text for details.
5. Would you like to have us send to someone as a gift from you a copy of any ebook in our inventory? See the offer in purple text at the end of this post.
6. Or, you may purchase a Floyd Henderson Shopify Gift Card here for someone and offer recommendations for the books in Floyd's store which might be of assistance to them.
7. You may click here

deal with non-duality, non-duality-based fictional adventures, recovery,

Grasping a Clearer Understanding of Non-Dual Terms
THE POWER OF NOW
(Con.t)
“The illusion of ‘having power now’ might seem to be real, but only ‘the bliss or happiness or contentment of now’ can actually happen, or not.”
--f.h.
Yesterday, three examples of five humans trying to “escape the past” and “avoid facing the future” were offered:
All had racing, variable minds that were focusing on “negatives from the past” or on “potential negatives in “their futures.” But at a point, the “bliss of now” happened for each.
Their various actions stopped their variable minds, the past and future were ignored, and they were truly brought to the now, to the present moment.
Alcohol did the trick for the man at the party. Savory food did it for two others. At the moment of their simultaneous orgasms, the other couple had no past, no future, and were not even mindful (mind-full) of the present. All were out of their minds, so they were completely absorbed in the moment, only.
That Present Moment, that Eternal Now, happens only when the mind stops once and for all. All five people in the examples had problems on their minds, and all wished for some power to control their situations that made them feel enslaved and powerless.
But when they were drawn completely into the present moment, they knew no problem so they had no desire for power or control. They knew the bliss as they lost a sense even of time. In that “no time” place, even a sense of “now” disappeared.
The power and control that persons seek shall never be real for it cannot be permanent. The fixations with the illusions of past and future are obviously never real. Even the sense of “now” fades away as the variable mind fades away.
All addictions are intended to create a change that allows persons to escape from the past and from the future and to experience happiness now. In the long run, though, addictions fail since they provide only a short-term fix.
The real fix is realization.
To continue:
The thinking mind is burned away with the light of awareness, and in the absence of the thinking mind, sometimes bliss comes, sometimes happiness comes, and sometimes contentment comes. Why would contentment alone not be enough?
It need not happen as often an alcoholic high for some; nor as infrequently as the opportunity to taste a gourmet preparation; nor as occasionally as simultaneous orgasms.
It can happen almost continuously when persons realize and are finally, once and for all, “out of their minds” - that is, beyond being driven subconsciously by the huge reservoir of learned ignorance which is stored in humans minds.
"Is realization about the abandonment of the pleasures of wine, food, and sex?" Hardly. It is about abandoning illusions. It is about abandonment of the frustrating instabilities and the constant shiftings of the false mind. It is about finding a permanent "solution" to what ails persons.
Maharaj explained in the end that realization is nothing more than seeing learned ignorance for what it is: total ignorance, total unawareness, the source of sleepwalking through the relative existence and sleep-talking throughout the entire relative ignorance.
The considerations now are these: “Are you settling for temporary respites?” and “Has someone convinced you that you need power and that only if you get it can you ever be happy?”
Examples have been provided in the past of the cases where the big name teachers and lecturers and authors who studied the words of Maharaj took a part of what he taught but then distorted the message to make it appealing to the members of the public who - as with all among the non-realized masses - are addicted to control and power.
One pseudo Advaitin wrote about “The Power of Now.”
Another pseudo Advaitin wrote about “The Power of Intention.”
Another pseudo-Advaitin wrote about “The Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire.”
Another pseudo-Advaitin teaches that to be happy requires one to “love what is”; that is, forget about just trying to “accept” the traumatic events of one’s life but to actually "love them."
[Some of you recall one of her victims who came here to be un-taught and to un-learn the BS with which the woman had filled her mind, once telling the woman who came here and who had been raped that “she should invite her rapist to her home and cook a meal for him and serve him.” I agreed as long as she had a large stock of rat poison which she could use to season his meal. Okay, not really.]
Those persons have bastardized a message that had nothing to do with gaining anything, including gaining power or gaining control. Now, those persons are diluting the message offered by Maharaj by adding to it the notions that they can show the masses how to attain power and how to be able to control whatever they want to control (for a sometimes slight but most often a very high fee).
The
Nisargan-Non-Dual take on control and power - as far as those two involve any
person - is that they do not exist, that both are concepts and nothing more,
and that anyone thinking or believing that she / he has power and / or control
over anything or anyone is delusional.
That is not a popular pointer since it can only be read by persons and not by
the deer or the fish or the birds or the plants or any other members of the
majority of the forms-or-bodies-cum-conscious-energy which are also forms-or-bodies-with-no-egos
(and, therefore, no egotism or delusion).
MARAHAJ
ON POWER
With those no farther along the “path” than what Maharaj called “the kindergarten
level of spirituality,” he spoke of “the power of awareness,” but eventually,
the message for those nearing the end of the “path” was:
Maharaj: “ . . . the wise man
[is] stripped of all his powers . . . ”
and
“We must realise how poor and powerless we are.”
As for those who were seeking other-worldly power from gods or from this Being
or that Being, he said, “There is no power as separate from me. It is inherent
in my very nature.”
Striking at the delusional concept of power being a key to happiness, he said: “To
imagine that some little thing - food, sex, power, fame - will make you happy is to deceive yourself. Only
something as vast and deep as [realization] can make you truly and lastingly
happy.”
Regarding power, he also said:
Maharaj: “Truth gives no
advantage. It gives you no higher status, no power over others.”
Maharaj: “The shape things take
is not within your power.”
MAHARAJ ON CONTROL:
Maharaj: “Stand without desire
and fear, relinquishing all control . . . .”
and
"What is wrong in letting go the illusion of personal control . . . ?"
and
“. . . a little whorl [a twist] arises in the mind, which indulges in fantasies
and imagines itself dominating and controlling life.”
Thus,
the desire for power and control is universal among the masses (where non-realization
prevails).
So consider how truly widespread the desire for control and power actually is:
the religious want to control; addicts are among the most extreme control freaks on the planet;
Personality
Type Eights are control freaks, always to a sociopathic level and often to a pathological level; spiritual giants
want to control, and some of them even want to control what is shared on
privately-owned websites; politicians want to control;
Type
Sixes with their fear-driven tendencies often join a military force, a police
force, a security guard services etc., all because they want to have power and
want to control; those who function in all of their "interpersonal
relationships" in "The Parent Role" want to control;
bosses want to control; principals want to control; managers want to control;
teachers want to control; supervisors want to control; neighbors and members of
community boards want to control; members of school boards want to control;
the police and sheriffs and constables and highway patrolmen and patrolwomen
want to control; members of the IRS and the FBI and the CIA and the entire
hodge-podge of three-letter government law enforcement agencies want to
control; district attorneys want to control;
courtroom lawyers want to control; judges want to control; rage-aholics want to
control; ass-aholics want to control; bullies on school grounds want to
control; gangs and cartels want to control; mothers and fathers want to
control;
preachers, rabbis, imams, ayatollahs, priests, lamas, popes, cardinals,
bishops, and deacons want to control; religious activists want to control
sexual conduct and decisions that people make about what to do with their
bodies or what not to do with their bodies; religious fanatics want to control;
ideologues want to control; spouses and lovers and friends and acquaintances
and even strangers want to control;
Sunday School teachers want to control; Boy and Girl Scout leaders want to
control; sexual predators and rapists want to control; murderers want to
control; robbers want to control; counselors want to control; life coaches want
to control;
diners in restaurants want to control; drivers in traffic want to control;
shoppers in checkout lines want to control; parental activists in schools want
to control; salespeople want to control; CEO's want to control; CFO's want to
control; and some gurus want to control;

members want control; people next to crying babies on the plane want control;
people around smokers want control; the smokers want control; small-town police
operating speed traps want control; mayors and justices of the peace want
control; city council members want control;
publishers and editors want control; abused children want control; selfish
children want control; manipulative men and women want control; strippers and
prostitutes want control; those deemed in cultures to be "the best
looking" want control; those deemed not to be the best looking want
control;
divas and models and actors and actresses want control; directors want control;
the rich want control; those who work in whatever versions of a
"department of defense" exists in nations around the planet want
control; border patrol workers want control;
people who create internet viruses want control; people who steal the identity
and credit card information from the people they target want control; people
looking for a parking place in a crowded parking lot / car park want control;
game wardens want control;
Christians want control; Jews want control; Muslims want control; suicide
bombers want control; jurors want control; dominant males in the wild want
control; dominant males and females in societies want control; right-wing party
leaders want control; left-wing party members want control; and spokespersons
and publicists want control.
Control . . . control . . . control. It is the scourge of the planet. The
desire for power in order to be able to control is likewise a scourge of the
planet.
Maharaj: “This is their stupidity, verging on insanity" and again, “What is wrong in letting go the illusion of personal control . . . ?”
