CAUSATION and RELATIVE EVENTS AND BEHAVIORS:
“Evil?” or “Ignorance, Stupidity, and Insanity”?
Maharaj said that “science someday will advance to the point where it can factually prove the validity of non-duality.”

Some time back, a regular visitor to this site alluded to a pointer offered that Maharaj eventually used a combination of “science and the Ultimate Medicine” in his later sharings.
As one that came to understand the non-dual message via understanding the Direct Path Method and the Nisargan Yoga, he was aware that Maharaj said that someday his pointers would be explained in terms of the science involved.
He said that would expand the numbers of those with the understanding
of non-duality because those with scientific, fact-based, and concrete (rather than
abstract) tendencies can often more easily grasp valid non-dual pointers.
Of course science has never been necessary for the understanding since all that
one need understand is within, but science today does reaffirm the veracity of
Maharaj's words as he shared his pointers.
When he said that “science” would someday assist seekers with reaching the understanding,
he included psychology - which is not only an academic discipline but is also
an applied discipline.
In the earliest postings on this site, it was explained that what is offered
here is “Applied Advaita” which allows seekers to realize, which allows some seekers
to be restored to sanity.
That can then allow the understanding of Absolute and the
Original Nature to be overlaid on the relative for the remainder of the
manifestation. Thereby, sanity can be applied to the relative, and ignorance
can be eliminated as the driver of thoughts and words and actions.
What did Maharaj have to say about that specifically? He said, “Find out your
real being. 'What am I?' is the fundamental question of all philosophy and
psychology. Go into it deeply.” Yet in the end, he said “it is far more important
to find all that you are not as opposite to “what you are.”
In conjunction with non-duality's focus on the relative problems which are
rooted in personality, “going deeply” into that which can be revealed via an
understanding of psychology can provide an understanding that most will never
have regarding the events being discussed here and the events that mark their
own daily existence.
To understand (a) the distorted and perverted machinations of the conditioned
and programmed mind in addition to (b) the consequences of personality
identification can move one along the “path” to full realization.
Maharaj also made clear that reaching the full understanding is one of the “end
goals” but that the avoidance of misunderstanding is critical along the way.
What might have changed if those who used bombs to kill three and injure
hundreds had not “misunderstood”?
In the U.S. there is much talk about “freedom of religion.” What those people
really mean is “freedom to practice the Christian religion.”
What if those bombers had not misunderstood and realized that they are not “Muslims” and that in the U.S. no one is “A Christian”? What if they had not misunderstood and realized that they were not “jihadists”?
What if they had not misunderstood and realized that there
is no “us vs. them” or “others” in the realm of the full understanding?
And what if the masses around the globe did not misunderstand and realized that
psychology's scientific study of the mental functions (and dysfunctions) of the
“mind” could reveal how the “mind” drives dysfunctional behavior?
Then, they might stop misidentifying the cause of dysfunctional behavior as “the presence of evil in the world.”
Then, they might stop misappropriating their funds and resources and energy in
their useless efforts to “fight evil” and they might consider treating the “mind”
instead (starting with their own).
(Useless? Yes, useless. Again, look at the historical evidence that is based in
fact rather than being driven by supernatural, magical thinking that blames all
that one disapproves of on “evil.”)
Moreover, what if persons no longer misunderstood and realized that the last
time that they were unconditionally happy and content was early on, during “The
Child Ignorance Stage” or while in “The Child No-Knowing State” when they had
no beliefs and, therefore, had no body-mind-personality identification?
What if they no longer misunderstood and realized again that initial sense of
unicity and Oneness that came during the early months when they identified,
often, with “The Mother” rather than with “self”?
What if they no longer misunderstood and realized that there is no “different-from-ment,”
“better-than-ment,” separate-and-apart-from-ness,” and no dualities at
all?
What if they no longer misunderstood and realized that there is a unity beyond
what appears to be a multiplicity?
What if they no longer misunderstood and realized and were then freed from
their addiction to control and power?
This was asked earlier:
What if persons no longer misunderstood and realized that the last time that
they were unconditionally happy and content was early on, during “The Child
Ignorance Stage” or while in “The Child No-Knowing State,” when they had no
beliefs and, therefore, had no body-mind-personality identification and no
hidden agendas and no dualistic “us vs. them” mentality?
What if they no longer misunderstood and realized again that initial sense of
unicity and Oneness that came during the early months when they identified,
often, with “The Mother” rather than with “self”?
It has been explained here in previous chapters that a child feels a sense of
oneness or unity early on, usually with a mother if she is the primary
caregiver. The familiarity of the voice dates back to the womb days, and that
familiarity provides some sense of comfort and security.
The child is considered to be a delight right until it enters the stage that
parents refer to disparagingly as “The Terrible Two's.” What happened?
What happened is that the child discovered its body, and
with that the child lost a sense of oneness / Oneness and developed a sense of
two-ness and separate-from-ness and apart-from-ness and a sense of
different-from-ment. And when that happens, a sense of better-than-ment is sure
to follow.
The child might discover its hand first, then a foot. It will become fascinated
with those “newly-found parts,” and the fascination usually lasts for the
remainder of the relative existence as body identification drives the “mindset”
of “Give my body all of the attention and pleasure you possibly can” . . .
along with, “eat special food, do not eat this food on this day, never eat this other food, wear special clothing, live in special housing, drink special
drinks, have only “regular sex,” and then keep heaping all of that on in larger and larger
doses.”
Yet the relative problem grows worse: soon programming and conditioning and
domestication and acculturation and brainwashing and indoctrination generate a “mind”
and fill it with nonsense and fiction, and much of that nonsense and fiction is
dualistic in nature:
“Stay away from strangers. 'We' are fine but 'they' are dangerous, even evil.”
The “us vs. them” mentality is set in place, and that generates both fear and
arrogance; security and insecurity; and acceptance and rejection. Duality
becomes the abnormal norm.
Then, 97% are introduced to organized religion which will, throughout one's
childhood and continuing throughout adulthood, teach and reinforce the most
dualistic beliefs ever, including, “we are the only way” and “we are
the right religion.”
It will teach that “those other people are all in the wrong religions” or “we are to go to the four corners of the earth and baptize everyone in the name of Jesus” or “no way - everyone is to be made into a Muslim or must be eliminated” and “we are the virtuous ones and they are the sinful ones.”
Is it any wonder that Maharaj so often warned seekers in his loft about the “ignorance, stupidity, and insanity” which come with the Ultimate Sickness?
