ANNOUNCEMENTS
[Walter Driscoll asked to interview me in order to preserve on video some of the latest modifications and evolutions in the versions of the message offered here since 1989. He would label the discussion, "Unlearning with Floyd Henderson."
Please note: For those who have a problem hearing what is being shared, the video offers a fairly accurate set of closed captions which some listeners might want to activate.
The interview is available for viewing by clicking on video "NUMBER THIRTEEN" in the column to the right.]
1. [See the offer in gold text following this post for details on how you can watch a retreat on video which includes a detailed discussion of all seven of the steps on the path as used by Maharaj]
2. Here, with those who are still driven to talk about "god," the "Son of god," the "Holy Spirit," "Buddha," "Krishna," etc., etc., etc., the invitation to them is to view those as verbs, not nouns. See the green text after today's post for the full meaning and implications of that.
3. A new video ("Number Ten: Awakening Together Satsang, March 2018") has now been added in the far right column of this page, offering the opportunity to view a recent 2018 satsang session with Floyd being interviewed by Regina and Jacqueline of "The Awakening Together Group." (See the details in the blue text after this post.)
4. Some prefer paperback books even if they have to wait a day or so to receive it and have to pay more for a printed book and its shipment. Now, 10 paperback books by Henderson are in print and available in two anthologies through Barnes and Noble, Amazon, and over 40,000+ booksellers around the globe including in the Americas, Germany, India, Italy, Poland, Russia, China, Spain, Brazil and South Korea. See the end of this post in red text for details.
5. Would you like to have us send to someone as a gift from you a copy of any ebook in our inventory? See the offer in purple text at the end of this post.
6. Or, you may purchase a Floyd Henderson Shopify Gift Card here for someone and offer recommendations for the books in Floyd's store which might be of assistance to them.
7. You may click here to visit Floyd's bookstore which offers both digital books and paperback books which deal with non-duality, non-duality-based fictional adventures, recovery, financial sanity, financial planning, and more.
CAUSATION and RELATIVE EVENTS AND BEHAVIORS:
“Evil?” or “Ignorance, Stupidity, and Insanity”?
A REVIEW OF THE KEY POINTERS REGARDING THE DUALISTIC BELIEF IN “GOOD” VS. “EVIL”
Two of the highest-selling books of the last seventy-five years have been the “Holy Bible” and “The Big Book of AA.” Both contain major contradictions within their content:
2. One need only read the first chapter of the “Bible” and see that there are two, very different “Creation stories” . . . that there are two conflicting explanations of how “creation” happened. Why?
Because the author was compiling stories from the ancient pagan religions that had been circulating for centuries but writing as if the narratives were coming to him afresh, “inspired by God” who was supposedly talking to him directly.
Because
there were two versions of the pagans' creation stories in circulation, he
included both. Probably 99.9% of those who have assumed the false identity of “A
Christian” have no clue that there are two conflicting versions of “how the
world was created,” revealing that 99.9% have never even read the first chapter
of a book they say is the never-to-be-questioned guide for how they live their
lives.
3. In “The Big Book,” the author was intent upon explaining that, with
alcoholics, “the main problem centers in the mind”; thus, he intended to
establish a global network of hospitals to treat alcoholism by treating the
problems that are centered in the minds of persons.
A group
in Akron, Ohio, whose contributions were going to be required for him to
complete the book, believed that “moral shortcomings” rather than mental and
emotional issues were at the root of the illness. What followed was a form of
blackmail when the Ohio group said, basically:
“You can only include the line about 'the problem centering in the mind' if you
add another line that says if alcoholics become religious (which they agreed to
call “spiritual” to make the process more palatable to rebellious drunks) then
those alcoholics would heal both mentally and physically.”
4. The author tried to stand fast, arguing that “being spiritual” had nothing
to do with addressing the mental and emotional issues which the doctors had
identified as what needed to be treated in order for persons to be freed from
the effects of alcoholism.
Their reply was something along these lines: “Refuse to make the point that
spirituality is the end cure for alcoholism and we will refuse to submit our
stories, which are going to be about 75% of the book you plan to write. No
spiritual cure, no stories; no stories, no book.” He caved.
5. The result in the case of “The Big Book”:
a. Millions upon millions of people over the last 75+ years have studied the
most widely-read book ever on the subject of alcoholism's cause and treatment,
and millions upon millions have been convinced that they do not need
professional treatment for the trauma and mental and emotional issues that
drive their illness but that they instead only need to be religious (a.k.a., “super
spiritual”).
b. A $20,000,000 worldwide study of the current effectiveness of their plan
reveals a 1.5% - 3.5% average “success rate,” and “success rate” was defined in
the study as maintaining only five years of sobriety. The results show that to
try to use religion or spirituality to treat mental and emotional issues will
result in near-total failure.
6. The results in the case of “The Bible”:
a. Billions read that book while being assured that every word in it is the
inspired work of God (specifically, the Judaeo-Christian God of Abraham, the
same God that Muslims would take to be the version of God that they would
worship as well).
b. Billions are reading ancient tales that were dreamed up by the leaders of
sky cults - including the leaders of the ancient pagan religions - and are
nothing more than myths and superstitions and fiction that is taken to be the
truth.
7. Maharaj: “Whatever spiritual things you aspire to know are all happening in
this objective world, in the illusion. All this is happening in the objective
world. All is dishonesty. There is no truth in this fraud.”
8. In both books, readers are being given a bastardized version of the facts;
are being convinced to believe that the causes of “the problems in the world”
are based in immorality and “evil sources”; and that the solution to all problems
lies in believing in a God that they dream up, a God that is “their own
conception of God” (resulting in a huge variety of conflicting and inconsistent
conceptions).
9. In that regard, Maharaj said: “First of all you identify something as being
good or bad for yourself. Then, in an effort to acquire good or to get rid of
the bad, you have invented a God. Then you worship such a God and ... you pray
to that God for something good to happen to you.”
10. If there were an all-powerful, loving God, that God would not evidence such
powerlessness and such a lack of love that He would allow humans to do what
they do to each other.
11. The message for non-dualists is the same message that was intended
originally by the author of “The Big Book”:
12. The main problem on this planet nowadays centers in the mind and is rooted
in what Maharaj called “stupidity verging on insanity.”
13. While insanity can most assuredly have a physiological component (chemical
imbalances, nutritional deficiencies, etc.) insanity is primarily a mental
issue, so the problem of the “mind” must be addressed.
14. No “inspired” book is required for Realization.
15. Maharaj: “I have no faith in anything which has ever been told, not even
what has been told by the Vedas. Only my own experience.”
He also said:
16. “Whatever you have tried to understand during your spiritual search will
prove false.”
17. “When the birth is disproved, the great noble meaning of spirituality and
the meaning of this world - everything - is disproved.”
18. “Only that person will visit this place whose virtue and sin have come to
an end.”
19. “There is no question of elevating to a higher level. Here it is only a
question of understanding.”
20. “There is no progress.”
21. “Go to zero concepts.”
22. If you are suffering from cancer and go to a doctor who tells you to take
two aspirin for what ails you, his advice is only going to guarantee more
suffering and pain . . . and possibly a hastened demise.
22. If you are (a) suffering from cancer and go to a doctor who tells you that
you are suffering from an operable cancer but that (b) his or her
recommendation is that (c) instead of undergoing surgery to remove the cancer
within that you should (d) try to pray away the tumor as an alternative, then
only one of you is suffering from - to use Maharaj's terminology - “stupidity
verging on insanity.”
Only if you agree with her or his recommendation to pray away the tumor, then only are you both suffering from “stupidity verging on insanity.” Yet it is quite typical among those suffering to take the word of the one presenting himself or herself as the expert, is it not? Ah, now there's the rub.
23. Earlier,
it was shown via the result of a $20,000,000.00 study that neither religion nor
spirituality addresses “problems that center in the mind,” that is, problems
that are rooted in mental and emotional and personality issues. That approach
was shown by scientific research to be totally futile, totally useless, totally
doomed to failure.
24. It was also shown that religious and spiritual amateurs who are offering
treatment for alcoholism (without any training or licensing or regulation) have
claimed for nearly eight decades that alcoholism is a problem based in morals
(specifically, “bad” morals) rather than looking at the science that makes
clear that it is a holistic problem that requires a holistic solution, offered
by people trained in dealing with holistic problems and offering holistic
solutions.
25. That example was offered because it is the model for all faulty analysis of
the links in every chain of causation and, therefore, explains why very little
of anything that could be labeled “a relative problem” is ever addressed
effectively anywhere on the planet.
26. To reduce a highly-complex, multi-dimensional illness and to oversimplify
it as a one-dimensional issue (namely, a “moral” issue or a “lack of morals”
issue) is an act of fact-flouting, science-ignoring ignorance and stupidity and
insanity, to use Maharaj's words. The same applies to all relative issues that
are begging to be addressed.
