ANNOUNCEMENTS
[Walter Driscoll asked to interview me in order to preserve on video some of the latest modifications and evolutions in the versions of the message offered here since 1989. He would label the discussion, "Unlearning with Floyd Henderson."
Please note: For those who have a problem hearing what is being shared, the video offers a fairly accurate set of closed captions which some listeners might want to activate.
The interview is available for viewing by clicking on video "NUMBER THIRTEEN" in the column to the right.]
1. [See the offer in gold text following this post for details on how you can watch a retreat on video which includes a detailed discussion of all seven of the steps on the path as used by Maharaj]
2. Here, with those who are still driven to talk about "god," the "Son of god," the "Holy Spirit," "Buddha," "Krishna," etc., etc., etc., the invitation to them is to view those as verbs, not nouns. See the green text after today's post for the full meaning and implications of that.
3. A new video ("Number Ten: Awakening Together Satsang, March 2018") has now been added in the far right column of this page, offering the opportunity to view a recent 2018 satsang session with Floyd being interviewed by Regina and Jacqueline of "The Awakening Together Group." (See the details in the blue text after this post.)
4. Some prefer paperback books even if they have to wait a day or so to receive it and have to pay more for a printed book and its shipment. Now, 10 paperback books by Henderson are in print and available in two anthologies through Barnes and Noble, Amazon, and over 40,000+ booksellers around the globe including in the Americas, Germany, India, Italy, Poland, Russia, China, Spain, Brazil and South Korea. See the end of this post in red text for details.
5. Would you like to have us send to someone as a gift from you a copy of any ebook in our inventory? See the offer in purple text at the end of this post.
6. Or, you may purchase a Floyd Henderson Shopify Gift Card here for someone and offer recommendations for the books in Floyd's store which might be of assistance to them.
7. You may click here to visit Floyd's bookstore which offers both digital books and paperback books which deal with non-duality, non-duality-based fictional adventures, recovery, financial sanity, financial planning, and more.
CAUSATION and RELATIVE EVENTS AND BEHAVIORS:
“Evil?” or “Ignorance, Stupidity, and Insanity”?
A REVIEW
OF THE KEY POINTERS REGARDING THE DUALISTIC BELIEF IN “GOOD” VS. “EVIL”
27. In
fact, whenever religious and / or spiritual or xenophobic persons follow their
tendency to minimize any highly-complex, multi-dimensional issue and to oversimplify
it as a one-dimensional issue (namely, a “moral” issue or a “lack of morals”
issue), then ignorance and / or stupidity and / or insanity will be
evidenced.
28. For example, there was never a choice here to be heterosexual and to be
attracted to women. It has always been that way, and it was never a moral
issue; moreover, no one could “pray away the not-gay-ness” and alter the
preference here.
Similarly, gays did not choose to be attracted to a same-sex person, and it is impossible to “pray away the gay,” and if “my” preference was never a moral issue, then no one's preference is a moral issue.
Moreover, since there has never been any concern here about which heterosexual married which heterosexual, wherefore any concern about which gay marries which gay?
Such
concern can only manifest in persons who are arrogantly and delusionally
certain that they are “moral and right and good and not evil” and that anyone
different from them is automatically “immoral and wrong and bad and evil.”
29. Thus, killing children in an elementary school is not a “morals vs. no
morals issue”; bombing people on the streets of Baghdad is not a “morals vs. no
morals issue”; and bombing people on the streets of Boston was not a “morals
vs. no morals issue.”
Those are behaviors that are driven by personality and by
personality's accompanying personality disorders (which can deteriorate into
full-blown neuroses and psychoses) and which result in ignorant, stupid and
insane acts.
30. So, sexual preference has nothing to do with being “moral or immoral”;
being an alcoholic, or an addict of any kind, has nothing to do with being
“moral or immoral”; and acts of terrorism (whether perpetrated from the air by
U.S. personnel or by Saudis who commandeered U.S. airplanes or perpetrated on
foot by U.S. invading personnel or by individuals walking about a U.S. city on
foot) have nothing to do with a “moral vs. immoral” duality.
31. In fact, in every one of those examples, all of the perpetrators - by their
cultures' standards - have been considered to be highly religious and highly
moral persons . . . within their cultures. And considered “Our Heroes” to
boot.
32. The non-dualist understands that there is no reality to such dualistic
concepts as “moral vs. immoral”; “good vs. evil”; or “right vs. wrong.” Why?
Because all of the definitions of all of those words are “relative.”
33. Additionally, because all of that involves things relative, then Action “A”
could be perceived to be immoral by one group while that same action could be
deemed perfectly moral by another. It's all relative.
34. What happened seventy-eight years ago with an author who understood the
roots of the Addictive Personality Disorder is what is happening today with
non-dualists and Nisargans who understand the roots of all of the personality
disorders that are a key component of the Ultimate Sickness.
35. Also similar is the fact that that author, who understood one of the key
contributors to a particular sickness, was ignored and shouted down by the
voices of certain ignorant persons with whom he was dealing. The same happens
nowadays as well when one comes forth that understands the causes of the
Ultimate Sickness.
36. The
author who knew that “the main problem [of addicts] centers in the mind” was
shouted down by those who believe that addiction is a result of “moral
shortcomings,” and his experience mirrors exactly what happens when (a)
non-duality teachers with an understanding of the functioning of the totality
cross paths with (b) the non-realized masses who reject facts as being false
and accept myths and superstitions as truth.
37. The realized understand that the main problem of the non-realized masses
around the globe also centers in the mind.
38. Those who are convinced that they stand on the moral high ground will
always believe in a single cause in a no-single-cause existence, and the cause
they see is always a moral one that can only be cured by religious or spiritual
means.
39. The non-dual teachings are about restoring logic and reason and wisdom; assigning
single-cause-blame for any relative problem evidences the absence of logic and
reason and wisdom.
40. Physical problems are addressed with physically-oriented treatments; mental
problems are addressed with mentally-oriented treatments; emotional problems
are addressed with emotionally-oriented treatments;
and personality-based problems are addressed either with the Ultimate Medicine or (if extremely serious in nature), with the kinds of psychologically-oriented treatments that are offered by trained professionals rather than untrained amateurs.
41. In
no case can a spiritual cure address a physical ailment, a mental ailment, or
an emotional ailment, the belief by some that they have the power to heal
anyone and everyone via prayer notwithstanding. Religious zealots and fanatics
regularly kill their own children as a result of their negligence of offering
prayer rather than seeking proper medical attention.
42. Thus, the wise see that the belief in religious or spiritual cures actually
aggravates persons' problems because the belief supports what the author of the
book on alcoholism called “spiritual intoxication,” and he made clear that
spiritual intoxication cannot lead to recovery but was inhibiting recovery.
He
observed, of course, that spiritual intoxication was just one additional
manifestation of the Addictive Personality Disorder which was causing persons
to remain intoxicated in one manner or the other.
43. Those identifying the single cause of relative existence problems as “bad
morals” are religiously and / or spiritually intoxicated, and to search for
wisdom from anyone who is intoxicated is in itself an act of ignorance,
stupidity and / or insanity (whether the person being listened to is physically
intoxicated, mentally intoxicated, emotionally intoxicated, religiously
intoxicated, or spiritually intoxicated).
44. Moreover, any reasonable human would admit that if there is an all-knowing,
all-powerful, all-caring God that is about the business of repairing minds (or
anything else that is messed up) then any reasonable human should also realize
that any all-knowing and all-powerful and all-caring God would not allow minds
(or anything else) to be messed up in the first place.
45. When one is abiding under the influence of personality - there is no such
thing as “free will” and there is no such thing as “choice.” How could there be
when every thought and word and action is determined by the subconscious
agendas of each personality that has been adopted as any identity, even as each
personality hides its agenda from the one being driven by multiple
personalities? Again, Maharaj:
46. “First of all you identify something as being good or bad for yourself.
Then, in an effort to acquire good or to get rid of the bad, you have invented
a God. Then you worship such a God and . . . you pray to that God for something
good to happen to you.”
47. “Whatever you have tried to understand during your spiritual search will
prove false.”
48. “Whatever spiritual things you aspire to know are all happening in this
objective world, in the illusion. All this is happening in the objective world.
All is dishonesty. There is no truth in this fraud.”
49. Just
as millions of alcoholics around the globe continue to be treated annually with
a methodology that has been shown to be ineffective, the case is the same with
the persons seeking treatment for the Ultimate Sickness.
50. The most popular books on non-duality and the most popular book on treating
alcoholism are exactly alike in that both are offering a distorted,
ineffective, and unsuccessful message, based in what is called “spirituality”
which is nothing more than a version of religion that has been arrogantly
upgraded by those assuming a false, self-elevating identity.
To be continued.
