Today we'll continue with some excerpts from the book entitled FREEDOM from BELIEFS (Believers, Non-Believers, and "No-Belief-ers") will continue with the a discussion of the way that personality-invoking "-ism's" are another source which generates a plethora of distortion-riddled beliefs: 

"-ISM'S" and Beliefs Rooted in Personality 

("-ism's," Part "E") 

It can be seen, therefore, that attachment to personality is not only fueled by "-ism's" but also reinforced by the ideas, concepts, etc. ("beliefs") which are at the root of all "-ism's." 

As long as thoughts and words and deeds are being driven subconsciously by the hidden agendas of false identities and by belief in the concepts that are promulgated by "-ism's," then every aspect of one's relative existence will be tarnished by the insanity of belief in "-ism"-based dualities and will be spoiled by the personality-induced trance that leaves them unawake, unconscious, and unaware. 

In that condition, persons will claim that they "really do, most assuredly, have free will" when in fact they are thinking and talking and walking about in their sleep while feeling certain that they are awake. Where in that scenario is there even the slightest chance for "free will" to be exerted? 

Maharaj: "In Hinduism, the very idea of 'free will' is non-existent, so there is no word for it. 'Will' is commitment, fixation, bondage." 

Maharaj taught, therefore, that the purpose of the teachings is to free persons from their fixations and bondage; is to eliminate mind-driven chaos; is to put to an end once and for all personality-driven instability; is to free persons from the "-ism"-driven volatility that marks their existence. 

He taught that the aim of the non-dual understanding is to eradicate culture-based ignorance and personality disorders and "stupidity" and "insanity" and "to liberate man from the thraldom of chaos and the burden of sorrow." 

How offensive his words were (and are) to those trapped in ego-states and egotism. 

How in error they assumed his teachings to be when he reported that they had no free will at all. How deluded the non-realized are, then, when they believe that they are abiding under the auspices of free will. 

With that belief in place, they give themselves "credit" for the "good" things they accomplish via their "free will" or they blame themselves for the "bad" things that happen when they "do not hold their free will" in check. 

Or, depending on their programming and conditioning, they will speak of other types of "will" that have been conjured up by their "religious leaders" or "spiritual guides" and which are even more magical and are of a totally fictitious character, namely, "God's will" or "the will of the universe." 

The fact is, nothing is unfolding according to the will of any god or goddess. All is energy-matter, and neither can be created nor destroyed; thus, there is no creator at all to exert his / her will. Nor is anything unfolding under the supervision of "the universe." Nothing is happening per the auspices of some "plan" or "divine plan." 

To study history and to see humankind's penchant for meanness and cruelty and ignorance and insanity is evidence enough to confirm that if there were someone or Someone planning what is happening on this planet, that plan could never be rightly classified as "divine." It could only be classified as "a very mean and cruel and ignorant and insane plan." 

The fact is, instead, that persons are driven by the unconscious fears and desires of their personalities; are driven by the concepts that are promulgated and broadcast by their "-ism's"; are driven by the residual effects of trauma that are stored at a cellular level throughout their bodies; are driven by the learned ignorance that they accumulated via programming, conditioning, domestication, and acculturation; and are driven by the personality disorders that mark and mar their relative existence. 

All sorts of processes are going on that determine thoughts and words and that subconsciously drive actions, processes which persons haven't the slightest awareness of: 

Maharaj: "A tremendously complex work is going on all the time in your brain and body. Are you conscious of it? Not at all." 

Moreover, all thoughts and words and deeds that are driven by the sick "minds" of the non-realized which - from the age of two years and onward are contaminated with the germs of the Ultimate Sickness - leave persons in a prison while believing that they are free. 

The prison is located between their ears, and each bar of the prison is a personality-based fear, a personality-based desire, or an "-ism"-based" concept or belief that is totally false but that is wholeheartedly believed to be true. 

What - other than ignorance and insanity - would convince a person in prison that he or she is free or has the "free will" to choose? Again, to be "driven" in a car is to be in the passenger seat, the back seat, or the trunk (boot) but is to be precluded from being behind the steering wheel and freely choosing where one is going to go, how one is going to go, when one is going to go, etc. 

"Free will" and "being driven" cannot co-exist. To be driven by entrapment in a personality trance - and to allow "-ism-based" concepts and beliefs to determine thoughts and words and deeds - is to block any chance for free will to manifest. 

What - other than ignorance and insanity - would prevent persons from seeing that, according to Maharaj, they "are using things and people for purposes alien to them" and are playing "havoc with the world and yourself." 

Such is the way it is when personalities and "-ism's" are in charge: they rob persons of free will, of the ability to consciously choose, and of the ability to behave in a sane manner. 

And that is why all available tools (including the Enneagram) are employed here to allow seekers to identity the personality types that are driving them and to thereby have a chance to be free.

Only with the completion of the third step on the "path" from identification with the false "I" to understanding the Absolute can seekers move on to the total freedom that comes with the post-belief, post-concept, post-persona, post-personality assumption, post-full realization manner of abiding from the position of being fully awake, fully aware, and fully conscious.

"-ISM'S" and Beliefs Rooted in Personality 

("-ism's," Part "F") 

It has been shown how the seeds of personality are sown in children as they attempt to adjust to the familial dysfunctionalism which all children are now exposed to and how the primary personality type is usually in place as early as the age of six. 

That personality, and the others which exert influence over thoughts and words and actions, are reinforced by the "-ism's" that are dreamed up by cultures around the globe. 

To be "liberated" is to be liberated from belief in personas and the concepts and ideas ("beliefs") which are propagated by the plethora of "-ism's" that are so pervasive in societies all over the planet. 

Here and elsewhere, one tool that is used by willing seekers to advance the cause of liberation is the Enneagram test, accompanied by an analysis of the test results that are shared with the seeker - a process which can require only about two hours in most cases. 

Additionally, background information is being shared via these postings which will allow seekers to see how personality came about and why these teachings - and the understanding they offer - are required for seekers to understand completely how (on a universal basis now) . . . 

a. persons become trapped in the personality trance and how 

b. stress leads to psychic deterioration (and to totally-predictable behaviors among the mentally and emotionally unhealthy as their personality types unconsciously drive thoughts and words and actions). 

So, to review some of the main pointers offered so far: 

1. At some point, it was seen by the most observant people in their community that all persons were being driven by one of nine dominate traits or "passions," that is, by whatever they were seen to be "most passionate about." 

2. It was also seen that their behaviors were "textbook" in the way that those behaviors manifested so consistently and unwaveringly and in how unsurprisingly foreseeable and predictable their thoughts and words and deeds were going to be in any given situation. 

3. Thus it was realized that "distinctions" and "dualities" were born with personality. "Differences" and "personal characteristics" were noted. 

4. That gave rise to "self"-ishness which, in turn, has been accompanied by a fiction-based sense of some Greater or Supreme Self and which blocks any sense of Oneness.

(The same happens around the age of two when a child - previously identified totally with its mother - becomes aware of its own body, becomes conscious of itself, becomes self-absorbed, and is thus said to be "A Terrible Two." 

Indeed, once one loses a sense of Self and identities with body and mind and personality, then the results, relatively speaking, could indeed be said to be "terrible." Such is a microcosm of what happens planet-wide as persons are separated from a sense of Oneness, replace the innate sense of "Is-ness" with a false sense of "self-is-ness" / selfishness, develop a primary personality type, and eventually assume dozens and scores and hundreds of false personas as actual identities throughout the relative existence.) 

5. It was Evagrius who discussed the early Greeks' version of the nine passions (or the "nine obsessions" or "nine dominant personality traits and types"). 

6. He showed how those passions (i.e., dominant personality traits / types) distorted human perception and limited the human search for the essence and authenticity. 

7. Religions further limited the search to the confines of their buildings and texts only and became the most prolific source of some of the most rigid false personality identifications ever.

8. People were dissuaded by their religious / spiritual leaders from seeking answers scientifically or objectively and told to accept unquestioningly the answers that were provided via dogma and "holy texts" only. 

9. With the few remaining seekers who used the non-duality teachings to uncover the root of all personality-driven disharmony and emotional instability and chaos, early teachers discussed the way that everyone developed a primary "point of view" from the list of nine possibilities.

10. It was seen by some that it is those "views" or "passions" or "primary personality traits / types" that mark and mar the human condition. The patterns of thoughts and words and behaviors associated with the passions now align with the nine personality types of the Enneagram. 

11. Those separated from authenticity will be blindly driven by their dominate and secondary personality types and will be ruled by unconscious but habitual responses as well as the hidden agendas of their personality / personalities. 

Now, to continue: 

Those lost in the trance of personality / personalities will be driven by the passions or personality traits of either wrath and resentment and anger; or pride; or deceit; or melancholia and jealousy and envy; or greed and avarice; or panic and cowardice; or conceit and gluttony; or lust; or indifference and laziness. 

Moreover, each of those passions aligns with one of the nine personality types identifiable via the Enneagram method of personality identification and analysis. For the dedicated Advaitin seeker that is attempting to 

a. understand the extreme (and extremely-adverse) effects that personality has played as it has controlled all thoughts, all words, and all deeds and to

b. understand the degree to which an assortment of the nine personality types has bastardized the relative existence and to 

c. understand why personality must be transitioned and to 

d. understand how to accomplish that transcendence, 

then it must be seen exactly which of the passions (or personality traits) have been driving the seeker; it must be seen exactly to what degree that has happened; and it must be seen exactly how to be free of personality identifications and their effects. 

So here is some of what is revealed when the Enneagram and the non-dual enlightenments regarding personality come together and uncover which passions or traits align with which types when they are psychically unhealthy and driven by the agendas of personalities / personas: 

Personality Type Ones are especially driven by wrath and resentment and anger; 

Personality Type Twos are especially driven by neediness; 

Personality Type Threes are especially driven by pride and deceit; 

Personality Type Fours are especially driven by melancholia and jealousy and envy and escapism; 

Personality Type Fives are especially driven by greed and avarice; 

Personality Type Sixes are especially driven by fear or anxiety or panic and dependency and cowardice (and occasionally reckless courage when they shift to a counter-phobic phase); 

Personality Type Sevens are especially driven by conceit and gluttony; 

Personality Type Eights are especially driven by lust (their primary lust being for power and control and their secondary lust being sexual . . . but even their sexual drive is about power and control and dominance); and 

Personality Type Nines who are especially driven by indifference and inertia and avoidance and laziness. 

Most persons that have lost contact with the essence and with authenticity will be driven by a combination of at least four of those types. Some are driven by even more than four; 

furthermore, without their concrete personality test results before them in black-and-white, most will move through the entire manifestation without a clue about the personality-based motivators that subconsciously drive them to think what they think, to think how they think, to feel or emote the way that they feel or emote, to talk how they talk, and to behave the way they behave. 

Which of those types have been driving you? To what degree? In what order should they be focused on to remove the most "detrimental obstacles to seeing Truth" first? Which specific desire and fear of each type is most adversely impacting your relative existence and contributing to your misery and suffering? 

Most will never know. You can. There is the opportunity for that to happen either here or via one of the many other venues that offer an insight which will finally - for the first time ever - allow persons to understand: 

1. why they have done what they have done throughout the relative existence, even when much of it made no sense and proved to be most harmful relatively speaking; 

2. why they continue to make the same mistakes over and over; 

3. why they repeat the same unhealthy patterns in one relationship after another; 

4. why they have felt totally powerless and helpless and have been unsuccessful when they try to change; and 

5. why they are driven by fears and desires which also make no sense at all.

THE EXPLANATION

If looked at as nouns, they point to illusions and are, therefore, a total waste of time to even discuss; if looked at as verbs which are resulting in certain sane but rare behaviors among humanity, then they are worthy of some attention during the relative existence.

Meaning? There are members of certain groups who say things such as "My concept of god in the past was of a weak god, an absentee god, A Santa Claus-type god, a mean, punishing, vindictive god, etc. Today, I am in close contact with a loving and caring god whom I worship and praise and glorify and give thanks to."

The reply to that usually goes like this: "If you are in contact with a god that wants to be worshipped and praised and glorified, then you're dealing with someone like yourself - a narcissist - and hanging out with narcissists will never bring an end to your narcissism (that narcissism evidenced by the fact that you think you are "godly").

Next, in the phrase 'loving and caring god,' any supposed god that truly had her or his act together would tell you that the totally irrelevant part of that phrase is 'god' and that the only part that is relevant is the "loving and caring" part.

"That is, a non-narcissistic their god / their goddess would say, "I care not an iota about being worshipped and praised and glorified by you or anyone else. How arrogant and insecure and needy would I have to be to want that? Forget the man-made, dreamed up noun 'god' and focus on the 'god as a verb' understanding and then go forth and let loving and caring be verbs - not adjectives - and let them generate the act of love and the act of caring and let those actions manifest through you."

Yeshu'a (Jesus) and Pope John Paul II and Pope Francis were spot on:

"No one shall ever see 'the kingdom of heaven.' It is within"

"Heaven and hell are not geographic places

but are states of mind, nothing more than

concepts dreamed up by men."&

in an interview with journalist Eugenio Scalfari,

a writer used by the Pope to issue off the record

teachings which become a part of the Papal Magisterium.

[That said, would that the popes who have shown the courage to reject a core concept of their dogma - namely, "hell" - would find the additional courage required to question the very existence of their institution in light of the centuries-long cover-up of their history of raping children and in light of the mental and emotional and psychological scarring of billions of their members past and present.

And that need for courage also applies as questions need to be asked about why so many other sky cults are still being supported and allowed to continue to exist as well. When certain types of programming and conditioning have been shown to blind the masses, they should end. Will they? Not likely. Why?

Because what the masses think and say and do is most influenced by the international crime families which hold sway over the masses as criminals conduct their planet-wide operations. What are the major international crime families and which are the most influential and have the largest memberships?

The Mafia / La Cosa Nostra; the Catholic Church (with it 1.2 billion followers) whose Vatican Bank worked for decades with the Mafia while laundering mob earnings (for a 15% all-profit charge by the Bank); Protestant and Evangelical Churches (with over 1.2 billion followers) like the one I was raised in where the youth director molested and sexually assaulted young girls; big business which has long created environments in which people have been abused; powerful political bodies like the U.S. Congress, etc., etc., etc.)

With all of those crime families, neither the followers nor the leadership ever voluntarily step down or shut down their criminal activities. Be they gangs, organized crime families, religions, big business, politicians, etc., they all want control and they all want power and they all want money, and nothing internal will interfere with the driving forces at play.

The masses must demand that all those in charge must step down and their groups and institutions must shut down, and there's the real problem because the continuation of their crimes are enabled not as much by the people running such crime organizations as they are enabled by the masses of people who - wanting some perceived "payoff" - remain involved with them and give them money and support them and aid and abet the continued existence of those criminal enterprises and thus facilitate the ability of church criminals and political criminals and other types of criminals to continue to commit their crimes.]
