THE CURSE OF HABITS

(How Habits Inspire Needless Work and Counter-Productive Acceptance and Have Thus Become a Curse on Humanity)

The reaction throughout history when the masses have heard a non-duality pointer has (1) varied in the wording of their reactions but has (2) been consistent in their intent.

(1)        The wording of their reactions:

“Kill that son of a bitch!”

“Burn her at the stake!”

Hang him!”

“Crucify him!”

“Light up a bonfire of the vanities to destroy all of their secular art which encourages humanism and science over other-worldly concerns and faith!”

(2)        The intent:

To eliminate any and all sources which endorse waking up rather than continuing to sleep-walk and sleep-talk one’s way through the relative existence

and

to eliminate all challenges to belief in widespread learned ignorance

and

to eliminate all who point out that humans are almost totally subsumed in insanity.

Going all the way back to court jesters who were sometimes given the freedom to express without being immediately beheaded the truth which ran contrary to so-called “conventional wisdom” (which does not exist), only a few especially wise and realized comedians or “social commentators” or “political satirists” developed a way to inform the masses that they were - and are - batshit crazy without the masses tarring and feathering them.

Some include Mark Twain, Will Rogers, Lenny Bruce, the Smothers Brothers, Richard Pryor, George (“you are all diseased”) Carlin, Wanda Sykes, and Jon Stewart, to name but a few.

If the wise were to analyze the content of their social criticism and note what their points shared in common, the wised could witness that those catalogued above addressed the three key symptoms of the Ultimate Sickness which Maharaj identified as “ignorance, stupidity, and insanity.”

To attack truth-tellers has been a consistent response from those such as Yeshu’a when he shared the non-dual message and was crucified for not taking the established party line

to

the more recent reactions to anyone inviting the masses to “wake up and see the truth,” namely, a politicization and rejection of anything to do with awakening and to do with being awake, aware and conscious. Very quickly the forces of ignorance coined “woke-ness” and assigned a negative connotation to any invitation to the masses to “wake up.”

Instead, the masses move through the relative existence like the sleepwalkers in “The Night of the Living Dead.”

They are driven by and controlled by unconscious and subconscious forces all their lives which take away any ability to make conscious choices, much less to make sane and rationale and reasonable choices.  

Such is the curse of succumbing to habits which can render the most intelligent to abide in a fashion exactly like that of the most ignorant.

Recently I heard from an intelligent woman who was raised as a Catholic who was programmed to marry an intelligent Catholic with "potential." She worked for a time in the medical field and she married a supposedly intelligent doctor. 

As is the case with most among the 97% with religious affliations, neither studied the religions and philosophies of the planet and - after thorough investigation and after careful consideration - determined that Catholicism was the proper route for them.

No, their parents took them to a Catholic church and they never left. Their “beliefs and practices” today are all determined by habit, defined as “a practice, custom, pattern, routine, style, convention, policy, way, manner, mode, tradition, matter of course, rule, tendency, propensity, inclination, bent, proclivity, proneness, disposition, or predisposition which determines every thought they think and every word they say and ever action they take.

Thus, the woman now after several births has reached a point where another pregnancy could lead to complications and physical danger for her and the embryo. Always focused on money, her Catholic husband wants her to take birth control.

As for his getting a snip-snip? His reaction as revealed to his fellow doctors is:

"No way! The church is opposed to birth control, and I'm not going to sacrifice my mortal, eternal soul and my heavenly rewards to carry the birth control burden rather than dumping that on my wife."

[Thus, as for his belief about her, I suppose she can burn in hell forever.]

Too, as his sure-to-manifest-guilt has increased over the years, he is returning to the most rigid habits of his younger days and determined that the church is right: he should only use the missionary position for sex and he must return to eating fish not meat on Fridays and he must go to confession more than once a week and any of his patients who show up pregnant from a rape of incestuous attack must carry the baby to term - even if another of her doctors has warned that she might die if she does so - and overall everyone shall also accept as truth his most dogmatic ways which are based in earlier habits.

His return to his earlier ways, his earlier habits which were imposed by his priests, leaves him under the control of those habits which are now “his settled or regular tendencies or practices, especially ones that are hard to give up” and "his acquired mode of behavior that has become near completely involuntary.”

As Maharaj came to understand, dogma does not treat the Ultimate Sickness but aggravates the condition; spirituality does not treat the Ultimate Sickness but aggravates the condition; and the root causes of the Sickness involve psychology and the factors stored in the mind which drive habits, no matter how insane.

[Some might note that the doctor mentioned above who is being driven by habits which were taught and learned in his church is behaving in a way that differs not at all from persons who assuredly have a major case of assholism.]

So what is a habit in psychological terms?

Habits are “context-behavior associations in memory that develop as people repeatedly experience what they take to be ‘rewards’ for a given action in a given context. Habitual behavior is cued directly by context and does not require supporting goals and conscious intentions.”

Wise practitioners point out that a psychologically-rooted habit is “that which determines what persons do often and usually do unconsciously or subconsciously, especially things which are difficult for them to stop doing.”

Too, as strong as the desire for rewards or a payoff is in reinforcing unconscious habits, so too is fear a powerful, habit-based influencer of thoughts, word, and actions.

The doctor believes that “after death,” all of the original elements and energy which help form a temporary, composite unity shall be miraculously re-formed in some “shape” or “variety” or “style” which shall exist forever, either in heaven (his desire) or in hell (his fear).

[Keep eating those fish on Friday, Bro, and keep placing your wife’s physical well-being in harm’s way and keep boring here with your missionary-only position and surely you’ll be well on your way to the amazing spoils which your church promises regarding the duality-based payoff for your “good-boy-ism.”

Meanwhile, millions of his fellows who have been programmed and conditioned just as he has believe that the shape awaiting them for all eternity will be some sort of gauzy, transparent half-human / half-bird figure with wings allowing them to fly around heaven or to return to earth and fly over a person for whom they’ll be “guardian angels.”

So much for the advantages of the doc’s high IQ when it comes to being free of learned ignorance.

For those types, their habits inspire needless work and counter-productive acceptance (such as, “love what is”). The wise will see that humankind’s habits have indeed become a curse for humans.

THE EXPLANATION

If looked at as nouns, they point to illusions and are, therefore, a total waste of time to even discuss; if looked at as verbs which are resulting in certain sane but rare behaviors among humanity, then they are worthy of some attention during the relative existence.

Meaning? There are members of certain groups who say things such as "My concept of god in the past was of a weak god, an absentee god, A Santa Claus-type god, a mean, punishing, vindictive god, etc. Today, I am in close contact with a loving and caring god whom I worship and praise and glorify and give thanks to."

The reply to that usually goes like this: "If you are in contact with a god that wants to be worshipped and praised and glorified, then you're dealing with someone like yourself - a narcissist - and hanging out with narcissists will never bring an end to your narcissism (that narcissism evidenced by the fact that you think you are "godly").

Next, in the phrase 'loving and caring god,' any supposed god that truly had her or his act together would tell you that the totally irrelevant part of that phrase is 'god' and that the only part that is relevant is the "loving and caring" part.

"That is, a non-narcissistic their god / their goddess would say, "I care not an iota about being worshipped and praised and glorified by you or anyone else. How arrogant and insecure and needy would I have to be to want that? Forget the man-made, dreamed up noun 'god' and focus on the 'god as a verb' understanding and then go forth and let loving and caring be verbs - not adjectives - and let them generate the act of love and the act of caring and let those actions manifest through you." 

Yeshu'a (Jesus) and Pope John Paul II and Pope Francis were spot on:

"No one shall ever see 'the kingdom of heaven.' It is within"

--Yeshu'a (Jesus)

and 

"Heaven and earth shall fade away."

--Yeshu'a (Jesus)

and 

"Heaven and hell are not geographic places

but are states of mind, nothing more than

concepts dreamed up by men."

--Pope John Paul II 

"There is no hell."

--Pope Francis, the current pope

in an interview with journalist Eugenio Scalfari,

a writer used by the Pope to issue off the record

teachings which become a part of the Papal Magisterium.

[That said, would that the popes who have shown the courage to reject a core concept of their dogma - namely, "hell" - would find the additional courage required to question the very existence of their institution in light of the centuries-long cover-up of their history of raping children and in light of the mental and emotional and psychological scarring of billions of their members past and present.

And that need for courage also applies as questions need to be asked about why so many other sky cults are still being supported and allowed to continue to exist as well. When certain types of programming and conditioning have been shown to blind the masses, they should end. Will they? Not likely. Why?

Because what the masses think and say and do is most influenced by the international crime families which hold sway over the masses as criminals conduct their planet-wide operations. What are the major international crime families and which are the most influential and have the largest memberships?

The Mafia / La Cosa Nostra; the Catholic Church (with it 1.2 billion followers) whose Vatican Bank worked for decades with the Mafia while laundering mob earnings (for a 15% all-profit charge by the Bank); Protestant and Evangelical Churches (with over 1.2 billion followers) like the one I was raised in where the youth director molested and sexually assaulted young girls; big business which has long created environments in which people have been abused; powerful political bodies like the U.S. Congress, etc., etc., etc.)

With all of those crime families, neither the followers nor the leadership ever voluntarily step down or shut down their criminal activities. Be they gangs, organized crime families, religions, big business, politicians, etc., they all want control and they all want power and they all want money, and nothing internal will interfere with the driving forces at play.

The masses must demand that all those in charge must step down and their groups and institutions must shut down, and there's the real problem because the continuation of their crimes are enabled not as much by the people running such crime organizations as they are enabled by the masses of people who - wanting some perceived "payoff" - remain involved with them and give them money and support them and aid and abet the continued existence of those criminal enterprises and thus facilitate the ability of church criminals and political criminals and other types of criminals to continue to commit their crimes.]
