Insanity: The Invisible Condition
Insanity and covid share one element which is common to both and a second element which is not common to both.
The background:
Covid - transmitted primary through environmental exposure in either a droplet or an aerosol form - cannot be seen by either the carrier or by those who have been infected by carriers who are spreading the sickness.
Insanity - transmitted primarily by insanely-sick persons through environmental exposure to insane programming, conditioning, etc. or by hereditary defects - cannot be seen by the insane who are infected but can be witnessed by the wise that detect its presence by witnessing the thought patterns and words and actions of the insane.
Covid sickness or the Ultimate Sickness are both so problematic because both covid germs and the germs of insanity are – for the most part – invisible.
To review: "Insanity" is defined as "extreme foolishness and / or irrationality; a state of serious mental illness; or, a state of total madness."
Thus, there are degrees of insanity, though the evidence in most cases shows
that it is progressive and only becomes more serious unless addressed and
eliminated. Even in the severest cases, however, the effects might "come
and go" at times. Meaning?
Meaning the insane might at least appear
to be sane for periods of time and might only reveal their insanity
occasionally, so most of the insane can fool others and themselves much of the
time.
Many among the insane masses are said to be "functioning" - working or socializing, dating and marrying, breeding and rearing (or not rearing) children, and supposedly living in ways that their cultures deem "normal."
Consider this similarity: high blood pressure has been called "The Silent
Killer" because it is impossible for anyone to detect its presence unless
it has been tested for specifically. Only after one of its full-blown effects
actually manifests - such as a stroke - is it known to have been present all
along.
Similarly, insanity can sometimes be called "The Invisible Condition"
because it is often impossible for anyone to detect its presence until its
full-blown effects manifest; only on those occasions is it then realized that
the condition had been present all along.
As a result, most take the manifestations of the effects of personality
disorders and / or neuroses and / or psychoses and / or other mental illnesses to
be the exception rather than the rule:
"My spouse
(or parent or lover or friend) is not crazy - there are just some times every
now and then when things build up and they something snaps on occasion. And the
same applies to me."
You might be with someone for months or years before the evidence becomes clear
and you truly understand the complete degree of insanity which is at play. In
marriage, the point at which such awareness occurs is pointed to with the
expression, "The honeymoon is over."
That expression points to the first moment when the phony images which
(1) were being displayed when dating and which
(2) were maintained during the days (or months, or years) following the wedding
are seen to have been nothing more than what they are: phony images.
The-honeymoon-is-over-moment happens when the formerly-hidden personality
defects and the dark mental liabilities finally surface from behind the facade
that had been maintained.
As noted, just as it is with high blood pressure, personality disorders and
insanity can manifest in stages, and in the early stages, the evidences might
be dismissed or minimized or denied by non-objective or "love-struck"
observers.
In some cases, persons with personality disorders - no matter the severity -
can become experts at compartmentalizing. The traits that are exhibited in the
home might be covered up at work; the characteristics that show up in chaotic
traffic or in a slow checkout line at a store might never be displayed at the
church or temple or mosque.
In milder cases or in the early stages, the effects of personality disorders
can be slight enough to escape detection to the unwary observer, especially in
sicker cultures where those same defects have become "the abnormal
norm" or where even more serious defects in others can overshadow milder
problems when they are exhibited. Those "minor problems" will
increase in severity and frequency if not addressed.
Over time, the conditions can move from the status of being "mild" to
"moderate" to "full-blown," and often the mild and moderate
degrees of personality disorders and / or insanity are disguised because
cultures will normalize the abnormal to such a degree that abnormal thoughts
and words and deeds can appear to be well within a culture's range of
"what is considered normal nowadays" or in the range of the
"abnormal norm" which is no longer seen by most to be abnormal at
all.
When hidden
agendas are at play, as among the members of certain political parties, insane
words and actions will be ignored and or “normalized” by the others members who
share those same hidden agendas.
The result: just as you or a partner might have high blood pressure that is
escaping detection, so might you or a partner have mild or moderate degrees of
"foolishness or irrationality" which can develop later into more
severe cases of personality disorders or severe mental and / or emotional
problems or even madness.
To the regret of many, the signs of "an invisible condition" are
seldom obvious at first and can only show up later when observed by a wise,
objective witness; unfortunately, those with personality defects and disorders
and more serious mental disorders are not identified by labels which are
required to be worn prominently at all times, much to the chagrin of those who
entered into a committed relationship with one who should probably be committed,
but into an institution which tries to treats the mental ill.
Thus, the subtle degrees of those mental and emotional illnesses will assure
that they will often go undetected until all of the image-making and
image-sustaining games can no longer be played effectively.
Would that there were some way to peer into the depths of the warped minds and
see the Sickness therein which is difficult to detect when cultures camouflage
and normalize abnormalities.
Alas, most have
no ability - or willingness - to see such abnormalities, especially if
"love" is involved. (The case in not that "love is blind";
the case is that "love" is color blind, unable to see red flags when
they are being waved before one's very eyes).
Some might think it would be nice if everyone on the planet who is suffering
from personality disorders or clinically-diagnosable insanity could be required
to have the glassy-eyed or blank or dazed or dull or empty or glazed or vacant or
severely-mentally-disordered stare of this certified insane man:
Some might prefer an obvious, physical type of "early warning system" or a kind of "Relationship DEFCOM System" (that is, an early-warning, "Defense Readiness System") that will sound a blaring "ah-ugggg-ah" alarm when one is in the presence of another with severe personality disorders or a developing or full-blown case of insanity.
[By the way,
the system exists internally, but most never use it when blinded by the fears
and desires of their personas.]
Some would probably appreciate such a system that would begin sounding a
fairly-quiet "DEFCOM Level 5" warning as you were being approached by
a truly-disturbed individual who is able to hide quite skillfully her or his
disturbances;
with such a
system, the closer that person comes, the louder the alarm would sound,
reaching a "DEFCOM Level 1" full alert which would make clear that an
"Emergency Condition" is present inside the one approaching.
Such a system could trigger an awareness inside you when exposed to the mental
and / or emotional toxicity of one suffering from personality disorders and
mental and emotional illness. Yet the limbic brain would likely override the
alarm system if you found the one approaching to be "really
attractive," doing what that part of the brain always does and allowing
distorted perceptions to supersede good sense.
Again, to the vexation of those who end up dealing with persons with
personality defects and mental problems, most who are suffering from
personality disorders or milder degrees of insanity or even
clinically-diagnosable insanity can - and usually do - appear to be quite sane
for a time; thus, the “realized non-dualists’” warnings about . . . "appearances."
[Yeshu’a was reported
to have said, “A dual-minded person is unstable in all ways,” so if one would
be able to register the first evidence or the first hint of the presence of insanity
in another person, having the skill to hear them speak of duality-based
concepts and beliefs would be a handy tool.]
Just as one cannot know what she or he does not know, those who are
dysfunctional as a result of personality disorders do not know (or will deny)
that they are dysfunctional, and those who are insane - to whatever degree -
will deny that anything is wrong with them at all.
[One woman said me, "I really never considered that my frequent mood
swings and my shifts
from being turned on by a man one moment to being turned off by him the next moment
or
from being very happy one day to being very sad the next day or
from being totally available to someone one moment but totally unavailable to
him the next moment or
from being warm and affectionate with someone one moment to being cold and mean
to him the next moment
was abnormal until you brought it up.”
“I have always
thought the shifts were just part of the normal ebbs and flows going on inside
my body and that, since I have always thought of them as being normal, then
everyone else should as well. And if they didn't accept it, I didn't care. But
I'm certainly willing to undertake an objective inventory and look at
myself."
[It didn't happen. A glance at the possibility of being abnormal both mentally
and emotionally came and went, and no understanding or clarity or change
manifested at all. In fact, the only thing that manifested was egotism, which
then inspired the writing and sharing of an extensive list of her assets - a
list that included no liabilities at all.]
Thus: as sane as it is to be able to spot disorders and insanity in others who
are going crazy or who are already insane, it is evidence of far more sanity
when persons are able to see that they are going crazy or that they are already
insane to one degree or another as a result of faulty programming, totally
nonsensical conditioning, warped domestication, and exposure to the most
perverted and twisted and sick acculturation and brainwashing and
indoctrination processes imaginable.
The estimate is that 100% of the people on the planet suffer from one (and
usually many) personality disorders to one degree or another; many suffer from
a combination of several neuroses and several psychoses.
(Sharers of non-dual pointers for thousands of years have warned people of the ill effects of
personality and have offered a means by which persons can be free of the ill
effects of personality assumption if they are seeking and willing and ready.)
Furthermore, the cases of those around the globe who are suffering from mental
and emotional illnesses are increasing geometrically. Add to that both
ignorance and learned ignorance - which are running rampart all over the face
of the planet - and never before has there been a greater need for the use of
all of the means and methods available to address ignorance;
never has the need been greater to wipe out the consequences of learned
ignorance; never has the need been greater to make persons aware of the heavy
toll of personality entrapment and the subsequent disorders which come with
assuming personas as identities and with adopting ego-states as identities;
and never has the need been greater than now to address and reduce the high
levels of what Maharaj (not too gently) called widespread “ignorance” and "stupidity"
and "insanity."
(Note: Are
those terms offensive? WHO is offended? What ego-state or ego-states feel insulted?
The fact is, the truth will set you free, but it will likely anger and
infuriate you to no end before doing so.)
Next, note that the most pervasive cases of insanity which Maharaj addressed,
and that are also being discussed here, are not the cases dealing with
wild-eyed people who are about to be locked away in institutions.
Instead, the level of insanity that Maharaj understood could be addressed with non-dual
messages is not the current, all-pervasive levels of insanity and does not deal
with "the state of being seriously mentally ill" or being
"totally mad."
The level of
insanity that he referred to and that he addressed was more in the range of
"extreme foolishness" and "irrationality."
Yet he did address the effects of personality and persona assumption, knowing
that those set the stage for the manifestation of severe personality disorders.
To that end, consider some of the serious effects which can follow the
assumption of personality and then being vulnerable to the disorders which stem
from personality assumption.
