ILLUSION - DELUSION
Yesterday, pointers were offered for consideration regarding the myths of free will and the ability to choose. Maharaj said, “You have no choice, only the illusion of it.”
When is one finally able to make conscious choices? When totally awake and aware and conscious and realized (that is, freed of all beliefs passed along through learned ignorance, especially by use of ignorant programming, conditioning, domestication, acculturation, brainwashing, and indoctrination).
During the evolution of the human mind as it expanded in size by three-and-a-half times, the mind parts developed so that information regarding survival of the species could be stored and recalled.
Hence, the mind was originally an “asset” but it became a “liability” when learned ignorance began to be passed down and believed in.
At that point, when illusions began to be seen as true, humans became the most deluded species on the planet and remain so to this day.
Illusion is defined as “something that is, or is likely to be, erroneously perceived or interpreted by the senses” (especially by sight and by hearing).
Delusion is defined as “a false belief or judgment about reality, held despite incontrovertible evidence to the contrary, occurring especially in mental conditions”; a delusion is “a belief that is clearly false and that indicates an abnormality in the affected person’s content of thought” (meaning, in the content of a person’s mind).
Such false beliefs cannot be accounted for by one’s level of intelligence. Intelligent humans can fall prey to as many false beliefs / delusions as the unintelligent.
Consider why: after illusions and delusions began to dominate and control human thoughts and words and actions, the call for “realization” (per Maharaj, “the opposite of ignorance”) came into being.
So what is to be realized is
(1) the difference in the brain vs. the parts within it that make up “the mind”
and
(2) how the mind shifted from originally being an asset in terms of the survival of the human species to, now, being a liability in terms of the survival of specific humans and the survival of the human species as a whole.
To review the explanation offered here regarding the brain-mind conundrum and how the functioning of the two differ:
The brain is elemental and natural, as opposed to the mind which has become totally unnatural (especially in terms of the near-universal desire among the non-realized masses to be “supernatural” or “spiritual” or “other-worldly”).
Early on, the adult human brain had a one-cup size, and the parts of the brain now referred to as “the mind” - wherein information could be stored and from which information could be retrieved - did not exist.
Originally, therefore, human-like “beings” had no “mind part” of the brain.
a. Originally, they abided under the auspices of the brain only.
b. Later, they would abide under the auspices of a mind focused on survival.
c. Eventually, they would abide - as is the case nowadays - under the auspices of a nonsense-filled, irrational mind which is bent on self-destruction rather than survival.
It was not until the adult human brain evolved during a period spanning many millennia from its original one-cup size to its present 3-1/2 cup size that any human ever had “a mind,” that is, ever had those areas of the brain where information could be stored and from which information could be retrieved.
So a part of the brain is now capable of storing and retrieving information, and once that part of the mind became filled with nonsense via programming, conditioning, etc., a nonsense-filled mind formed.
But earlier, for many years, the information stored in the mind and recalled on occasion was, in terms of the relative existence, an asset because it facilitated the survival of the species as it led humans to avoid ignorant, self-destructive behaviors.
The earliest version of “the mind” was originally an asset for humanity when it was filled with facts, such as when someone called “Thorson” witnessed someone called “Rickback” fall off a cliff and break into pieces on the rocks below.
Having witnessed that scenario and having a mind part in the brain that could store the facts regarding what humans would come to refer to as “the death” or “the demise” of Rickback, Thorson was able to save in the mind-part of his brain the intuitive message, “Take caution if near the edge of a cliff. The potential, if too close to the edge, is an event which will not contribute to the survival of the species.”
Now, however, as a result of distorted and nonsensical programming, conditioning, domestication, acculturation, indoctrination and brainwashing, the mind - as Maharaj made clear in multiple warnings - is a liability.
The reason that Maharaj suggested that “ . . . You should go back, reverse, to the source” and “Follow the same path by which you came” is because it is now the case that during the “coming in leg of the manifestation” that the teaching and learning and storing and retrieving of foolishness and learned ignorance is added to and accumulated in the mind.
It is during the stages of child programming, child conditioning, etc. when each child is exposed to the hand-me-down ignorance and insanity which is being passed down to all children and which relocates them mentally and emotionally to the Land of Suckerdom where most of them will spend the rest of the manifestation.
The “realization” process, Maharaj said, is about nothing more than a human taking the steps required to be free of all of the learned ignorance and false beliefs which she or he has been taught and free of all of the past influences which set personality disorders and neuroses and psychoses into place.
It has been shown repeatedly on this site that “The Causes of the Ultimate Sickness” become “The Symptoms of the Ultimate Sickness” to the degree that “The Causes” (distorted and nonsensical programming, conditioning, domestication, acculturation, indoctrination and brainwashing) result in the passing down from one generation to the next the symptoms of the Sickness, three of which Maharaj identified as “ignorance, stupidity, and insanity.”
Once the symptoms manifest in one generation, then those symptoms of the Sickness will be passed down to the next generation, and the next, and the next, ad infinitum; thus, the transmission of the Ultimate Sickness now involves almost all among the masses (among all of whom happen to be entrapped in a cycle of nonsense and who are now engaging in nothing less than the widespread dissemination of ignorance - including what Maharaj called “learned ignorance” - without their ever becoming aware of how truly Sick they are and without any awareness of how nonsensical their thoughts and words and actions actually are).
You may have heard someone report something like this: “Well, my son brought home the crud from school, he passed on the sickness to his brother and sister, they passed the illness to me, and I passed it on to my spouse. Now we’re all as sick as can be.”
The same happens with the Ultimate Sickness except that it now starts not with children passing a sickness down to adults but with the adults passing the Sickness down to children (and to other adults as well).
What do their distorted and nonsensical programming, conditioning, domestication, acculturation, indoctrination and brainwashing generate? A crud-filled mind, the content of which is now passed down to their children and also passed down to everyone else who listens to their nonsense and who accepts their lies and distortions and delusions and illusions as fact.
Thus, this is a key point in understanding what the Sickness is about and how it is to be treated:
If persons were to all become reasonable and rationale in a flash, they would see that the greatest challenge being faced but ignored all around the globe is persons being fooled and then all acting the way that those playing the role of “The Complete Fool” act.
Maharaj said: “There is no such thing as peace of mind.”
I added: “There is only peace if you are out of your mind” which is actually “their mind” which has been “transplanted” into your head.
The above shows both what is to be realized and why steps should be taken to be freed from being driven unconsciously and subconsciously by the nonsense and of the mind and thereafter to abide under the auspices of a fully awake and fully aware and fully conscious elemental brain.
And what is now stored within it which has transformed the mind from a relative existence asset into a total relative existence liability?
False ideas, notions, concepts, thoughts, impressions, images, opinions, views, theories, and learned ignorance (a.k.a., “knowledge”), all of which can be summarized in a single word: “beliefs.”
Want to be free of being driven subconsciously and unconsciously by the nonsense that has been taught and is now stored in the mind? It’s really a simple process:
Simply abandon all beliefs and allow the mind to dissolve into what Maharaj called a “zero concepts” state (which is actually a zero beliefs state).
