THE DESIRE TO CONTROL AND THE DESIRE TO FOOL CONNECTION

Maharaj: “I have no faith in anything which has ever been told, not even what has been told by the Vedas. Only my own experience.”
For those who watched the movie Oppenheimer, they heard Oppenheimer share a quotation from the Bhagavad Gita when he watched the erupting fireball from the first atomic bomb explosion.
The quote from the Bhagavad Gita he referenced came during a conversation between Arjuna and Lord Krishna, a supposed incarnation of Vishnu, who said: “Now I am become Death, the Destroyer of Worlds.”
[“Death” literally translates from the Sanskrit as “world-destroying time.” In the fourth argument in that text, the point is made that the concept of death - as is the case with the concept of birth - is an illusion. Why? Because all is merely cycling. Nothing is being “created.” All is merely cycling, and all which “comes together” will eventually come apart, per the Second Law of Thermodynamics.]
Regarding “Worlds,” Maharaj had this to say:
“You are not in the world. The world is in you.” Meaning? The world is in you, that is, in your mind. It’s a concept, totally flawed.
He offered to take away that illusion. While nothing can be created nor destroyed, what “a destroyer of worlds” could do is eliminate the illusory, conceptualized image of “the world” which 8 billion+ persons imagine to be real;
however, that could only happen if the masses were willing to abandon their false beliefs about what “the world” is like).
I offer the same opportunity, but during my 35 years of sharing pointers about submitting to being un-taught and thereby un-learning all taught ignorance, I’ve had very few who availed themselves of the opportunity. People do love what they erroneously take to be “their beliefs.”
Maharaj told those in his loft that they should not come there expecting to get something. To the contrary, he said, he would take everything away. Meaning? Meaning all of their false beliefs.
Moreover, while lip service might be given to “buying into” Eastern pointers about de-accumulating, few really follow through and deaccumulate that which calls for deaccumulating, namely false beliefs.
The Western mindset centers on accumulation. The realized - not being burdened by the content of a mind bent on accumulation - understand that decumulation is preferable.
Does that mean that one should give away a car if one has a car? Your house if you have one? “Your bank accounts and investments?” Your clothes? Your food? No.
When a realized guide such as Maharaj
offered to seekers this pointer . . .
“Give up all and you gain all”
there is a call to investigate further to understand what he meant by “all.”
Such investigation reveals that his advice means
“Give up all [concepts, ideas, notions, thoughts, images, opinions, learned ignorance, body identification, mind identification, personality identifications / personas / pretense / fronts / masks / masquerades / characters / guises / roles / façades, etc.] and you gain all.”
How to summarize that lengthy cataloguing? One could simply say,
“Give up all [beliefs] and you gain all.”
Yet how non-realized persons love to guard “their beliefs,” tout “their beliefs,” hype “their beliefs,” push “their beliefs,” peddle “their beliefs,” share “their beliefs,” “fight for their beliefs,” and try to persuade others to adopt “their beliefs.”
While not in theory, in practice such proselytizing is what religious and spiritual movements and many versions of non-duality are all about.
Regarding the insanity of clinging to the beliefs of others which have been accumulated as (supposedly) one’s own beliefs? Humans for the most part do not realize that there is no such thing as “their beliefs.”
They have not realized that what they take to be “their beliefs” are actually the beliefs of those persons who programmed them, who conditioned them, who domesticated them, who acculturated them, who indoctrinated them, and who brainwashed them.
Those programmers, conditioners, etc. taught / passed down BS beliefs which can be traced back to the times of the darkest ages of ignorance and when nonsense and superstitions and lies and non-facts and irrationalities and gobbledygook and drivel and babble and jabbering and illogicalities and foolishness and craziness and absurdity and senselessness were blindly and unquestioningly accepted as truth.
When did the last period of The Dark Ages once again manifest? During recent years.
As President Obama pointed out during his presidency, those in the opposition party lied about his policies and made fun of advice which could lower oil demand by 3-4% annually. He said, “It’s like these guys take pride in being ignorant.” Further investigation proved his advice was correct.
See? Functioning with enlightenment. Aware.
As an example of the opposite, the president who followed Obama was running the show during the covid outbreak which killed 1,000,000 people in the U.S. alone. Additional deaths and / or internal injuries occurred when people followed the advice of that man who suggested that people could drink disinfectants such as Clorox or Lysol to cure covid, should avoid wearing masks, need not avoid large crowds indoors, should use a medicine intended to de-worm animals though it was proved early on to be ineffective against covid, etc.
Can Clorox destroy the covid virus on countertops? Yes. Can it destroy the covid virus inside a human body? No, not without ramifications.
But ignorance-driven persons who unquestioningly believed the man's words were calling poison centers after ingesting those disinfectants.
See? Functioning in darkness. Unaware or uncaring. Ignorant nonsense passed down and ignorant beliefs accumulated which in turn drove persons to behave in an ignorant fashion. So it is.
