Here, there is nothing that is believed, so there is no one here who wants you to believe anything, either. Here, the invitation is to be free of all that you have been programmed, conditioned, acculturated, and domesticated to believe so that you can be free, period.
FROM A SITE VISITOR: Friend sent me the link to your site. Recently diagnosed with advanced stage lung cancer (yep - i did it to myself with tobacco) and when I asked one of the doctors to be completly honest with me, he said to get my affairs in order.
My friend also gave me a book on the last talks by Maharaj when he was dying of cancer, also from tobacco abuse. Told me you had been diagnosed w/ colon cancer and are going through something now that is not minor. Trying to handle this, but not doing a very good job of it. Any advice?
F.: No, no advice, but some similar relative experiences did happen years ago and, yes, some new "issues" are being processed now. First, to the colon cancer that was dealt with here:
the doctors back then gave an ultimatum and a time frame: "either do our procedure two times per year or you will die, soon." For those who do that procedure two times per year, so it is. Never would they be advised to stop.
What is shared is that enough investigation was undertaken to uncover some non-traditional, more natural, protocols that were available. (Again, no advice about that will be offered, either. All who might be interested can do their own research.) Here, though, the traditional approach was abandoned and a natural protocol was used and the verdict is: cancer-free for nearly six years.
Nearly two months ago here, there was similar talk: "If this diagnosis is correct, you might have to undergo open-heart surgery or you're facing some bad numbers, maybe 6 to 24 months at the most." The reply, "What if I get hit by a train going home today? Then those would be considered good numbers, right?"
There will be no effort to try to describe "the look" or to share the words that followed, other than to say the attitude is - as always, "I am a healing professional who cares about my patients, so do what I say or to hell with you."
Again, the course of treatment being followed here with these current physical conditions is also a natural one, not a surgical one. Never say never. Surgery could happen someday, but predictions about "length of time to live" have proved here to be mere conjectures that fail to take into account a variety of variables.
Yet whether their projections are spot on or spot off, here is the understanding: the few that have the clarity that can come via this Advaita understanding will enjoy a clarity-induced peace and an unclouded focus on the facts about illness and health for whatever the remaining length of the existence.
Why can that happen with peace? Because the sources of all fear - personality and all else thought to be "personal" - have already been cast aside. And that includes the belief that there can be a "personal death."
From that belief-less and personality-less platform, the Realized can see all, including the lies and fears surrounding what some mistakenly call "death." With the clarity and the understanding and the unblocked consciousness that allow for a perfectly-clear perspective, the Realized not only function throughout the relative existence on their "own" terms but "depart" the relative existence on their own terms as well.
If you re-read the pointers shared by Maharaj in the days and months leading up to his taking mahasamadhi, you will see all of the above at play.
In college, there was one professor that was notorious for handing out failing grades. It was often said by some of his students during the early part of his course, "Flunk now and avoid the May rush."
Here, a similar suggestion is offered, as was shared with one retreat participant who was driven by his fear of "death": "Afraid of what's coming up? Concerned about the inevitable un-manifestation of the consciousness? Then die now and avoid the later rush. I have." What does that mean?
It means that, though the body has not yet undergone the "inevitable death" that some speak of, it means that here, the death of the "mind" and the death of the ego (of any and all identity and personality) have already happened. Again, re-read the final words of Maharaj and see the same at play.
None of that may turn out to be what you were seeking. Neither may the content in the complimentary copy of the eBook that I will forward to you - a book entitled What Happens When I Die? (An Advaita Explanation of What Happens After the Manifestation).
Yet you may consider this: while the means that triggers an end to the manifestation does not matter, what matters (to the degree that anything "matters") is how each lives. Trapped in personality, one will live with unmet desires and a plethora of fears; trapped in the "mind" one will live with ignorance and insanity.
The reason persons experience such angst when contemplating their own "demise" is two-fold: (1) a fear of the unknown, and (2) the belief that, "I'm going to miss this, this, and that."
Actually, nothing is going to be missed because there will be no "one" to miss it. What can be missed can only be missed now, during the relative, so the invitation to all site visitors is to stop missing out for the remainder of the existence as a result of focusing on "the future" and "loss" and "death" and any other false concepts as well.
And that invitation is extended to all, no matter the "relative" condition, including the "young" and the "old," the "healthy" and the "sick," those "alone" or "not alone." During the final days and months of the manifestation of that speck of conscious-energy called "Maharaj," what had always happened continued to happen, right up until the moment of mahasamadhi.
The means by which it happened might have been limited, the means might have been less animated, the means might have been less forceful; however, the message was as spot on as always as he witnessed the body and witnessed the pain but knew that none of it had anything to do with that which was observing it all.
Non-attachment allowed a position of neutrality to continue, neither running to something nor running away from anything. The model Maharaj provided for the way to abide during the final days is the model for the way for all to abide every day. Peace and Light to You. Regards, f.

The Twice-Stolen Necklace Murders offers the non-duality message by way of a mystery-adventure novel, discussing the movement from pain to healing to awakening to peace.
From Dr. R.F. Maley, Ph.D, Professor Emeritus and former Head of the Department of Psychology, University of Houston: "Floyd Henderson's book, The Twice-Stolen Necklace Murders, is a fun read and an interesting mystery, but perhaps more importantly it serves as a vehicle for blending Eastern Philosophy and Native American Spirituality to make an intellectually challenging novel. The book's insights into both relationships and authoritarian conditioning of people in our society make it a must read, tracing the roots of narcissistic, sociopathic and psychopathic behaviors to the very core of the culture. This truly witty and politically-incorrect study of the aggressive nature of 'the American character' offers not only a diagnosis but also a treatment plan, making the book an excellent supplemental reading in courses such as psychology, anthropology, philosophy, sociology and counseling."
