Here, there is nothing that is believed, so there is no one here who wants you to believe anything, either. Here, the invitation is to be free of all that you have been programmed, conditioned, acculturated, and domesticated to believe so that you can be free, period.
F.: At its core, The Ultimate Medicine received via an understanding of the Advaita teachings brings magical thinking to an end. The non-personal is no longer personified, including the personification of "the universe"; further, all of the appeal that accumulation and abundance may have had as a result of earlier programming and conditioning comes to an end.
Desire also comes to an end, so a desire for abundance could never manifest. Blame and shame end, so there can be no suggestion that the airborne virus that settled within your body is "your fault"; nor will any Realized Advaitin suggest that the virus-caused illness is the fault of your improper "thoughts."
Post-Realization, the no-mind state begins and continues without interruption, even without the interruption of saying, "I have no mind" except as a "teaching thorn" employed to allow seekers to reach the same state. The mindless deer does not think, "I have no mind." It cannot think anything, being mindless.
If seekers understand the consequences of buying into the Western concept of "The Law of Attraction" (a.k.a., accumulation and amassing) vs. what comes when the Eastern teaching of de-accumulation is applied, then they will understand how the former brings stress and chaos and misery while the latter brings freedom and happiness.
The one that understands the difference in the Western penchant for "more" vs. the Eastern bent for less will also understand the point shared yesterday in an e-mail from a man who began awakening after a retreat here nearly a year ago:
"Thanks for being bold enough to tackle another of the distributors of c**p concepts who are getting rich off gullible people. As you well know, I had abundance. I had an abundance of homes (including my own house + rental properties + that nearby lake house + a time share condo in FL.) I had an abundance of wives and lovers. I had an abundance of vehicles. I had an abundance of money. And I had all of the costs of accumulating all of that and all of the toil and grief that came from trying to hang onto all of that (to no avail.)
"Nowadays, I just shake my head at those buying into the same programming that drove me to accumulate when I was just as gullible, just as blind. To hell with the law of attraction. Give me the law of repulsion so I attract nothing. Thanks for what you taught me about de-accumulation, and please forgive my initial remarks about your being full of it when you suggested at the retreat that I might consider bringing all my accumulating to end and try de-accumulating as an alternate approach. LOL. Peace, Love, and Light, Bro."
The Advaitin teacher offers pointers regarding de-accumulation, unlearning, and less-ness. One trait that all of the big names have in common is that they are selling re-tooled concepts about accumulation, supposedly-new concepts that they claim must be learned, and ideas that trigger a desire for more-ness. Specifically, they are selling:
** the supposedly ability to mind-control the universe, the supposed ability to gain power and control for one's self or selves, and the supposed ability to attract more, to attract abundance.
They are also selling concepts...
** about finding meaning; about finding purpose, about changing your thoughts in order to change your life; about how incredible you are; about secrets; about secrets to success; about sacred contracts;
about the power of intention; about advancing your spirit; about your Infinite Self; about the power of now; about how to love and be loved; about your ageless body and timeless mind; about spontaneously fulfilling desires;
about spiritual laws that guarantee success; about how to know God; and about how you are supposed to love what is...be that loving rape and your rapist or the murder of your child and the murderer...loving whatever is.
They may not have an understanding of the Absolute, but they most surely have heaps of absolute nonsense that they are willing to sell to the gullible at premium prices.
